I was thinking about giving Kingdom Hearts a play. But one thing bothers me. Why is it that in Final Fantasy Tactics you go against the Church? I recall in one part that you kill a bishop who uses a Zodiac stone and later on the Church deems Ramza a heretic. What would you guys say?

I’m not sure about Final Fantasy, but Kingdom Hearts is a good game. It’s one of my favorite games.

Story-wise, FF Tactics was a huge disappointment. It’s pretty anti-religious and I wouldn’t blame you for not playing it. I personally couldn’t wait to get the story over and done with so I could go around tinkering with the job system

The Kingdom Hearts series though is just simply BEAUTIFUL! It is my most favorite game series of all time. Heck, you might even find some themes very relevant to Christianity. If you grew up as a Disney kid like me, then trust me when I say you’re gonna fall in love with Kingdom Hearts. 😃

I wish I had my own Kingdom Hearts adventure. 😦 (If I did, expect me to land in Port Royal, arrr!!! >BD)

I really like the Christian themes. In fact, sometimes I play Kingdom Hearts on Sundays just because of the Christian themes.

Glad we can agree on something. I used to be a huge fan of Tactics when I wasa kid but I also was not catholic when I enjoyed it. After I joined the Church I really looked into the anti-religious parts of the game and I regretted getting attached to it.

What christian themes are there in Kingdom Hearts? I didn’t see any on the youtube videos I watched.

I’m a big fan of Mecha Anime/Manga particularly Gundam and Macross. I build 'em models too. Just can’t get enough of 'em.

I also like Martial Arts anime like YuYu Hakusho and Dragonball Z.

They’re simple really. You have constant themes of light conquering darkness. How those that turned to darkness still have a chance at redemption and stuff. You’re gonna have to invest in the series a bit to get the whole picture. I recommend buying Kingdom Hearts, Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, and Kingdom Hearts II. 😃

Don’t forget agape love. The main character sacrificed himself to save people, especially in that part in Hallow Bastion during the first Kingdom Hearts game. Also, certain characters makes me think of Mary.

Oh yeah! (Although, that part struck me more as romantic than religious :o).

Not to mention in the very first game, SPOILER! (use scroll bar to see the spoiler)

Sora’s friend betrays him for a good portion of the first game. When this friend finally realizes his mistake, Sora actually forgives him. In the second game, not only does this same friend return to fight alongside Sora, but I think you can even have him in your party for the final battle.

😃

The character you speak of is my favorite character! Sora was so quick to forgive him but the poor guy took so long to forgive himself (if you play the sequels). I love redemption stories…especially the ones where the character goes though a difficult journey to make his/her peace.

One thing I like about Riku actually took focus in Chain of Memories. I like how, despite the darkness within him, he still believes that the darkness within him is his to deal with and does not belong to Ansem.

It may not exactly be one of the more Christian-like themes in the story but I have serious respect for guys that take responsibility like that and choose their own path.

When I think about Riku using darkness for good, I think of how God gives everyone gifts to use to glorify him.

I really wanted a new series, but I do really want to see this Trigun movie!

Yes! A new Trigun animation is coming out!

Apparently, the first one in a decade, with an original story by the series creator.
I love Trigun, the setting, the cast, everything. Vash the Stampede is the most sympathetic character in any anime I’ve ever seen. Plus, I really dig his get-up.

The movie is classic Trigun so if you enjoyed the series you’ll definitely love Badlands Rumble. It’s nice to see the show animated in today’s standards, I nostalgia’d a lot when watching it.

That’s good to hear! And I see Apple fixed the release date, before it said it was coming out Dec 1969.
