And where does that verse say: ONLY the WRITTEN word?“for you have exalted your Word above all your name”
Psalm 138:2

I believe 1voice simply cannot admit such a belief or notion does not exist anywhere in the Bible. Refusal to admit it is a sign of pride.Likewise, the question posted in 481 and 500:
Okay…question then…who gets to decide what supports and contradicts the Bible?
How is one to know what contradicts and supports Scripture? You, the individual, someone else? the Church?
It should be an easy question for you to answer, right 1voice?
Huh?“for you have exalted your Word above all your name”
Psalm 138:2
You misunderstand my position. No, 1voice. Our logic is that we believe the Word of God in its ENTIRETY, which has been revealed through 2 channels: Scripture and Tradition.
YOUR paradigm is that God’s Word is only revealed through the Scriptures.
Another side-step. Catholics are not Mormons and I have not seen one post supporting the Mormons or the Book of Mormon in this thread. Again - you have introduced a straw man. You are misrepresenting our position and then attacking it. Illogical. A fallacy.Originally Posted by 1voice
Your logic is exactly the same logic that Mormons stand on when they justify the claims made in the Book of Mormon.
If you use that logic… you must allow others to use the same logic.
And Jesus Christ said:Huh?
This is not even remotely close to what you have claimed.
God’s Word is Jesus Christ,…!
Okay…then show us the tradition: Everything must be said or taught from the Bible. You misunderstand my position.
I accept tradition as long as it lines up with the truth already revealed in the Bible.
You can take this as my response to #250 as well. …![]()
More important, that verse in no shape or form is claiming the written Word only. Strike one!Huh?
This is not even remotely close to what you have claimed.
God’s Word is Jesus Christ, whose word is revealed through Scripture and Tradition.
If anything, this supports the Catholic position that God’s Word is the source of all!
“If then I being your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; you also ought to wash one another’s feet.”And Jesus Christ said:
“ask in my name”
John 13:14
If you choose to be arrogant I will ignore you.More important, that verse in no shape or form is claiming the written Word only. Strike one!
But Tradition came first, 1voice. That’s what gave you the Bible. You misunderstand my position.
I accept tradition as long as it lines up with the truth already revealed in the Bible.
Cuz Eric loves us!Hey! This thread now is rated five stars!!
I wonder how that happened!

Arrogant? You are the one who refuses to provide the scriptural verses supporting your tradition:If you choose to be arrogant I will ignore you.
Yes … is the answer to all of the above.I’m addressing this post to 1voice in the hopes that he/she will see it.
1voice, when you pray, do you pray only by yourself - in your own room?
Or do you pray during church services?
Do you pray by yourself with the door shut behind you?
Do you pray out loud?
In “Biblical” proportions! You didn’t answer these questions. I realize you are being bombarded with posts and I suspect that is why you haven’t answered them.
Then you are doing things which the Bible prohibits. Are you aware of that? So how DARE you accuse Catholics of doing that?Yes … is the answer to all of the above.
Well it is evident we will never get to read any verses supporting 1voice position. Then you are doing things which the Bible prohibits. Are you aware of that? So how DARE you accuse Catholics of doing that?
Please answer the question that I and others have asked over and over and over:
Where are the Bible verses that support your position?
All three of these statements are false, and the source of your error is revealed in the words in bold. But Tradition came first, 1voice. **That’s what gave you the Bible. **
You would not know that Hebrews is inspired, except for the Sacred Tradition of the Catholic Church.
So really your position ought to be: I accept Scripture as long as it doesn’t contradict Tradition. And that’s how I know that Hebrews is inspired.
