While I don’t think this is the best Catholic site out there, I haven’t seen it mentioned yet: catholiceducation.org. I always enjoy reading their articles. I suggest checking it out! 🙂

New Advent is great for raw data, fact checking and background:

www.newadvent.org

The one I didn’t see here that I really love is the American Society for the the Defense of Tradition, Family and Property

www.tfp.org

Very monarchist, pretty much the personal project of a Brazilian professor and writer Plinio Corrêa de Oliveira. It has about 5 or 6 online books by him and a large variety articles on catholic philsophy and history. The organization is international with affiliates in about a dozen countries. There is a bi-monthly magazine they publish (Crusader) and even a boarding school in Pennsylvania. Its a very interesting organization, not for the Liberal “catholic” tho.

IMHO I think tcrnews2.com/ is the best Catholic web site on the net. Check it out. 👍
Seen better, seen worse.
When I go to a new Catholic website I first look at the links, if they list Catholic Answers or EWTN I figure they must be ok. 😉

The Byzantine Forum is a very diverse group - our membership is no longer accurately described by the board’s name. There is a free exchange of ideas and disagreement, but the basic rule is one of charity and respect for each other and each other’s Churches; the tolerance level for bashing - whether it be of Catholics, Orthodox, or others - is low to non-existent. Still, we do have some highly opinionated posters. We discuss, debate, disagree, and pray for the time that all of Eastern Christianity will be united as one.

Our membership is a mix but we are, underneath it all, a family. Byzantine Catholics are the largest group overall, with Ruthenians and Ukrainians predominating, but we also have Albanians, Belarusians, Croats, Hungarians, Italo-Greco-Albanians, Melkites, Romanians, Russians, and Slovaks . Non-Byzantine Catholics include Armenians, Chaldeans, Copts, Ethiopians, Maronites, and Syriacs.

There’s a sizeable active Eastern Orthodox membership - including Albanians, Antiochians, Belarusians, Bulgarians, Carpatho-Rusyns, Greeks, Romanians, Russians, Serbs, and Ukrainians (an Orthodox Archimandrite from the EP’s US Belarusian jurisdiction moderates one of our boards). Our Oriental Orthodox members include Armenians, Assyrians, Copts, Ethiopians, and Syriacs.

We also have a contingent of Latin Catholics, whose views range across the spectrum, from traditional to liberal; they share an interest in the Eastern Christianity with a number of active Protestant posters - primarily High Church Anglican/Episcopalian.

Geographically, we’re very diverse as well. Besides all of North America, there are folks posting routinely from England, Scotland, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Scotland, Spain, and Scandanavia, as well as Australia, Brazil, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Phillippines, with other places represented on a less regular basis.

Anyone with a sincere interest in Eastern Christianity is welcome among us.

Many years,

Neil

The fact that they’ve got the audacity to disagree with catholic doctrine does not make one anti-catholic. It’s no more anti-catholic than this site is catholic elitist

And don’t worry guys, I’m not trying to be a troll…just want some good discussions. As you’ve no doubt guessed, I’m obviously not a catholic, and some will recognize me from carm.
nope, i recognize you from your constant overlooking of the truth provided you on steve ray’s website at catholic-convert.com , AKA Defenders of the Catholic Faith

you’re right … disagreeing with Catholic Doctrine does not make you anti-Catholic… however the way that many responses are given clearly indicate there is an anti-Catholic contingent there

Now, I may be a bit naive…but, there’s this one catholic site that seems just a bit too radical for some reason. It’s called conservativecatholic.com. I consider myself a conservative, personally, but…eh…it seems a bit out there. Or maybe I just misunderstood it.

since the link is “frozen”, i wasn’t able to check it out, but i would guess it might be a schismatic site…the radical traditionalists consider themselves conservative catholics:p 😦

Then why in the WORLD would they not prefer the term “radical traditionalists”? 😛 I guess the name “conservative catholic” does have a positive ring to it, though. Anyways, I didn’t bother going to the site before I came here, so I didn’t know at first that the site was temporarily unavailable. My mistake.

i guess because sedevacantists and schismatics have such a negative connotation:D 😉 noticed your location…chris farley fan…or just SNL in general

What’s wrong with being a motivational speaker living in a van down by the river? 😃 Actually, I’m both a Chris Farley fan and an SNL fan…well, I actually think some of the older episodes are funnier. The ones now are just completely inappropriate, crude humor…only without the humor. It just isn’t funny anymore, y’know?

Well, heh, just to make sure that this post isn’t completely chatty spam…I think I know a good website. catholic-convert.com is good, and the forums are pretty good too…plus, most of them are good conservatives, without being too radical! 👍

you’re not baiting me are ya max?i’ll leave it at that…😃 i agree that steve ray’s website is excellent… i’m the one with over 11,000 posts there since i joined in march of 2003:thumbsup: …course not having a job is a big reason for that:(

That’s more than 700 posts a month.

Don’t even THINK of posting so many at these forums! :nope:

11,000 posts?! Well La-de-freakin-da! 😛 Heh, nah, really, that’s a lot dude. I’m a member there too, but I don’t post that much…I am glad I joined though, because I started talking to this knowledgeable catholic member. Heh, if I ever need to know anything, I just go to that guy for advice on what’s right. But, yeah…so, any other good catholic sites?

don’t worry karl…the word is out…i understand the parameters … you don’t want more than 4-8 posts per day from any one poster… besides, if i’m still active there, how could i possibly post that much here?

www.beliefnet.com has got some good and bad things going for it…depending on what you are actually looking for…i check in occasionally to see what’s happening, but don’t spend too much time there… i have heard al kresta’s board is excellent, but is infrequently visited
