The Bible is a “Catholic Book”

Dear Christy74 - you ask this:“Question, when & why did the Roman part of the Catholic Church remove some of the books of the Old Testament: 3 & 4th Macc., Susanna, Bel & the Dragon, etc. which the rest of the Catholic Church still uses?”

Off the cuff, we didn’t. The universalists did and are trying to sell their version of the Bible back to us. Chuck that one. Get another.

Peace,

Gail

I absolutely LOVE that motto! It is indeed something to strive for. You can be sure I’ll be adding that to my Christmas Cards, or would this be frowned upon by the Power Catholic organization?

** Add it to your “Life” not just to your Christmas cards dear! Let Satan know you reject Him and embrace Jesus’ “True” church. I told you membership is free. We should all stop being afraid to speak out for what is right! I attempt to never be opinionated (Do not listen to Tony, he has that errr, “drinking” problem, that we are working on. Don’t tell anyone, they may talk! ) When someone says something as fac against God, His Mother or His Church. Others will say “Your interptetations may be incorrect” I say; “The devil told you to say that, you son of the beast!” They bascially the same meanings, just a different approach! 😃 **

My family are all Roman Catholic, except myself who had a falling out when I learned things about the history of the church that I was too innocent to accept. Now I’m starting to question that bit, to be honest. I had misgivings, due to being too naive in the ways of men, and absolutely felt that the Church could never, and would never have done anything wrong or questionable … that it came straight from God.

**I have been a cradle catholic for 64 years. I know what you mean. We all have “questions” of faith from time to time. It is the Devil seeing if he can make us become Protestant and join His children on their trip to eternal damnation! What do you do? PRAY! Yup, we just pray, accepting and realizing that Jesus is always with us! I would offer you one little piece of advise: Pray the Rosary! If you don’t know how, that is OK, don’t have a set of Rosary beads, that is OK. Just start praying to Mary! Start with one Hail Mary and progesss up to 10. After that it becomes easy to say an entire Rosary. When you have any question, doubt or concern ~ pray a Hail Mary. Jesus’ Mother will confort you and your doubts.

I will tell you that you didn’t lose your Faith.Sadly, you never had it! I don’t mean to sound harsh there. If you “knew” that Jesus was “physically” in the Euchirest that you ate, you could “never” leave the Church. How could you turn your back on your Lord and Savior for any reason?
Some Catholics have left because of the “priest sex scandles” How dump it that? Sure those evil acts were wrong and the priests will have to answer to God for that But that doesn’t make the CC any less the true church! It just prove that the Devil is a work everywhere and we humans must be on guard and ready to defend our Faith! The other 99.98 % of Priest who are now afraid to even be 'friendly" to our children for fear of being accused of wrongdoing! Jesus once said a great thing in plain words “Let you who are without sin, cast the first stone.” I pray that we all become so sindless that Satan gets hit on the head constantly! :crutches: **

Then I learned of some not so nice things from its past and crashed hard. However, this site is helping me to resolve many of those issues.

Just know two things:

**You need to get your soul right!
Jesus Loves you, he really does. How else do you think you got here? Even JustAsking4 is loved and respected here.👍 All of them actually! 😃 . I am off to Mass you will be included in my intentions! **

I also wished to add that your post was well thought out, and appreciated by myself.
**
You are too kind!

TONY DID YOU HEAR THAT! Your eastern Cowboy, Eeerrr I meant Catholic!

God Bless you. Remember The Devil hates Power Catholics come joing us! The water is Great! **

Thank-you:blessyou:

didn’t help me on this one.

Of course the Holy Bible is a Catholic book (as this thread points out), ‘cos it’s been collected of many scriptures at a time, when Jesus’ Church was called catholic and there was no other split church.
But:
How many Catholics know this Catholic book? Who of those who own a bible, really do read in it regularly? Who has actually red the bible from Genesis to revelation - as if reading a biography?

In fact the Bible is a biography. The biography of Life itself – it’s originate, it’s course, it’s destination. The Bible tells us how it all came, where we came from and where we will go, why things are as they are, what God did and what we did, and even – how life will go on after that last step, called death. (Though there is no death!).
And finally the bible is a first class help for our life; how to live and how to be happy and how to tread our next.

I must admit: I often was very jealous at the USA, as quite officially only you TRUST IN GOD as it tells everybody from every dollar-note. Many I hear say, the USA is a rotten state. I don’t think so. If we in Europe suddenly would have the statement
IN GOD WE TRUST
on every Euro-note, there’d be an outcry of protest. Most likely loudest in France, but here in Germany too as we are so terribly tolerant.
Sometimes tolerance borders over into stupidness.

Many great thoughts again, bruder Bruno. “Cradle Catholic” is a frequent saying for lifetime, born Catholic. Like only Bayern (Bavaria) is truelly Germany 🙂
Unfortunatelly big super Rich Money (Globalization) is quickly ruling the world, picturing tradition, God, Religion, Ethnicity as obsolete foolishness. Biggest MOney, Business is Ruling the USA now, in Anti-Christian business of (false) wars fashion. Hopefully, the new Administration will soon change many of those. And Here, we hear that the Catholic Church is begining Revival. More Seminarians, some Processions again.

I say the bible is eastern orthodox catholic.and eastern orthodox catholic jerusalem is the Mother church,of all the eastern orthodox, and western catholic churches ,yes i include rome in this…🤷 😉

Those who follow the truth of the Bible are taught to interpret it from the Holy Spirit. In so doing, those with true belief are filled with God’s spirit, and begin to act more like Jesus Christ.

It should be the goal of all Christians to become more like our Savior. If anyone could ever attain that ideal, we would never have needed his sacrifice.

It is our job to continually work towards this goal, and to help our brethren when they need encouragement.

The official books of the Bible were selected to be placed into the Bible at the Council of Trent. The Roman Catholic Church did put the modern day Bible. I will not deny that, but it is the word of God meant to be shared with everyone. It is a fallacy for anyone to deny the word of God to anyone, or to declare it belongs only to one organization.
Well…scripture was written by members of God’s congregation to and for members of God’s congregation. Hence scripture, the Bible itself, belongs to God’s congregation. And if you are not a member of God’s congregation, it is dangerous to attempt to interpret scripture by youself. 2 Pet 3:15-16, “There are certain things in the letters of our beloved brother Paul that are hard to understand, which the untaught and the unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the rest of the scriptures.”

So unless you are already taught, you are taking a terrible chance in trying to understand scripture yourself. The probability of misunderstanding is extremely high, and the consequence of misunderstanding is fatal.

Of course the message of scripture, the Good News, is for everyone, and is delivered via God’s congregation. Scripture is one of the tools God has given His congregation for that purpose.

I understand a few people on this board might consider the Bible to be dangerous or ill used by people of other faiths. Satan will do anything to pull people away from God. However, the Bible is a chance for people to meet Christ who might otherwise not have. It is a book with unlimited value, and I believe the Gideons are correct in their approach of getting it out to everyone they can.

Even if people misinterpret the message, they will pull from the Bible that they must believe in Christ Jesus to attain the promises. If more people looked up to Jesus, and aspired to act as he taught us … then this world would be a much better place.
Darn, I’m not sure the Gideons are right–because if an untaught or unstable person reads the Bible in the loneliness of their motel room, twisting it to their destruction is a distinct possibility.

Peter indicates that scripture comes in a context, and a person who reads scripture outside of that context can easily misunderstand it.

True, Scripture does indicate that those who have the anointing need no one to teach them, but if you don’t have the anointing…

Keep trying on that accent it needs a lot of work! You don’t "get out often do you? Another Correction Tony, You really make my job hard! Correcting Protestants, correcting YOU, correcting Protestants!
“Eastern Cowboys” can be found all over “gay” districts of NY and other citys. They look the look but thank God they can’t walk the walk, too much swing in their hips! I have been to Midland for the KofC, I am on 2/3rd Degree team. I do promotions. We did one today for 45 candidates!
Midland is a nice place! Nothing around for thousands of miles, well it seems that way! It might only be hundreds.
Yes, actually have seen him ride a horse on TV. 60 minutes! He is not bad actually. At least he doesn’t ride side saddle!

Another, correction: You said : “We got to combine Texan** and Non-Texan wisdoms to solve all world problems” 😃 Everybody knows there is no Wisdom outside of Texas" Sorry :o What happened is this, God only had so much wisdom to give and he started in Texas, and it such a large place. I heard he ran out real near the Louisiana boarder. Then again it could be inbreeding from across the state line. The only thing small in Texas is our egos! Even our Humility is huge!

I really agree that The Bible is a “Catholic Book”, therefore, everything in the Bible, in one way or another supports Catholicism. Ignorance of Catholicism is ignorance of the Bible.

Wiege-Katholik! Das, sollte mein Freund leicht gewesen sein. Wer lebt in einer Wiege? Baptised as a Catholic near birth. I was 11 days old! We also have “Tiber Swimmers” The river Tiber runs outside Rome. Some people swim it to reach Rome. Converts! 😃 **

**Burbo, I have been in many, many countries: China, Tiawan, Tailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Japan, Korea, Phillipinnes, Canada, Mexico, Germany Italy, France, Switzerland, England, Luxenburg, I also have been in many of the United State. 25 or more of the 50! The USA is very large.

I can tell you that The USA was the greatest Country on Earth! Just like England, Germany and Roman Empires were once

**In 1955 , my group help get the words “One Nation Under God” added to the Pledge of Allegiance to the United States flag. It is an oath of loyalty to USA. It use to be recited at many public events. Our US Congressional sessions still open with the recitation of the Pledge. The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag reads as follows:

“I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands: one Nation under God, indivisible, With Liberty and Justice for all.”****

On January 22, 1973, The United States of America as a Nation “officially” turned its back on God. Ever since that time we have suffered under the yoke of the devil. 48,589,993 People murdered in the United States authorized and supported by the US Government. Every minute of every day 1.7 children are murdered in the United States. As Germans we both understand the shame and guilt from the murder of innocent people. Bruno, this is so much worse! These “people” are unborn children. God’s gift of life is being rejected. Their souls cry out for Justice. How can God ignore their cries even if we do? Can you imagine the cries of 48,589,993 sould demanding justice. How can God refuse? It is “just” it is “deserved”

My country shames me! It is still the greatest country in the World that only speaks poorly of the rest of the world, not reflecting greatness on this country. We are taking God out of everything! Our children can’t pray in school! We can’t mention God at “Government” Functions. The want men to marry men, women to marrry women. The desire all things evil to be legal.

Bruno, we know history, the Bible holds samples as does other historical books. Any intelligent person knows what this is all leading to: “GODS WRATH AND JUST FURY” Why would God stay where He isn’t wanted? Why would He protect a country that refused to even “protect” their own lives? They are trying to remove God from everything even the Money of which you see as a sign of our "Godliness. I see it as a memorial to what use to be like. Somewhat, simular to the greatness once enjoyed by the Roman Empire. I think we should scratch it off our money! At least then, we wouldn’t be hyrocrites also! Heuchler! Jesus und Gott beide Hasse Hyprocrites!
**
If we in Europe suddenly would have the statement IN GOD WE TRUST on every Euro-note, there’d be an outcry of protest. Most likely loudest in France, but here in Germany too as we are so terribly tolerant. ****Sometimes tolerance borders over into stupidness **

**Bruno, I would have to say this was one of the most intelligent things said in this entire thread! **

Yes the Bible is a Catholic Book. The word Catholic mean Univerisal.

With that thought in mind, yes indeed the Bible is a Catholic Book.

The Bible belongs to whoever reads, follows, and obeys its teachings.
well, yeah, but who put it together? The Catholic Church. If it weren’t for the Catholic Church there would be NO Christianity in the world today. There would be NO bible.

So the Bible is a Catholic book and anyone who reads it and adheres to is “Catholic”… whether s/he knows it or not. 🙂

and by the way, there are probably more of “those kind” of Catholics around than there are real Catholics… “Actual Catholics” (so called) voted (mostly) for Barack O. 😦

But then, there probably weren’t many of either: Catholics or quote-unquote Catholics (those aforementiioned who read the Bible, etc…) this election. 😦 I mean, Jesus puts Life before $, so you would think his followers would also.

I just wanted to thank everyone in this thread who responded to my posts. I read each of them, and articles that were provided either here or on another thread. I have been praying.

Most of you know by know that I left the church and have been using this board to help with the misunderstandings I had/have.

Thank-you for all your support. There were many posts, and all very well written. You guys are very convincing, and I’m glad to see you are fighting for Christ.

Now for this thread …
Possession is nine tenths of the law, but who can truly posses the Bible?

I went to buy another version of the Bible a few months ago. A new version is almost like reading a new book I was amazed at how many different Bibles there were. An entire wall was filled with nothing but, and it was more like going to Chapters. Have we reached a point now where we should be recognizing authorship/ownership to those who translate them? Is the Bible still the Bible when another translates it and removes certain books?

(Tongue in cheek) Can you see renaming the other Bibles to …

President’s Choice - Book of Biblical Passages
New King Jame’s Biblical Translation
NIV Biblical Translation

The Holy Spirit guided the putting together of the Bible. The organization known as the Roman Catholic Church put this book together and named it the ’ Bible’. If another comes by and changes it, should they have the right to give it the same name? Copy write would have expired by now, but would you still consider it a theft of sorts? (The name only)

Are you offended by the many Biblical translations out there?

**Hi Symux,

There are estimated to be over 100 different “VERSIONS” of the Bible. The SDA just released their own version. These versions change what the bible was suppose to teach to what they want taught. They are also “translated” into 2,200 diffrent languages whicheven complicates things further. I speak several languages and it is hard to do translations. Our simple phaise “It is raining cats and dogs” can cause confusion if translated directly. It translated to say “It is raining heavyly” That is more accurate but not true to original words! It gets even more complicated with Bible. I read German and Korean versions and like you said A new version is almost like reading a new book

The Catholic Church have several different versions ourselves. But we only "teach from two different versions. Both approved for teaching. We have the HS and 2,000 years of church history and tradition that explains what the authors were trying to explain to us in each and every book. Monks spent their entire lives hand writting the bible to keep it alive.
Martin Luther wanted the catholic church to righten some wrongs. The devil choice this opportunity to divide the true church.

“All things truly wicked start from an innocence.”- Ernest Hemingway

The KJV was written in the 1500s. It had many ‘rewrites’ until the 1800’s what they made 3,600  “corrections” to the bible. The Devil didn’t like some things it said I am guessing! 😃 He got rid of that problem!

“Do not consider it proof just because it is written in books, for a liar who will deceive with his tongue will not hesitate to do the same with his pen.” - Maimonides

Some Bible Trivia
The system of chapters was introduced in A.D. 1238 by Cardinal Hugo de S. Caro, while the verse notations were added in 1551 by Robertus Stephanus, after the advent of printing.
A Bible in the University of Gottingen is written on 2,470 palm leaves. According to statistics from Wycliffe International, the Society of Gideons, and the International Bible Society, the number of new Bibles that are sold, given away, or otherwise distributed in the United States is about 168,000 per day. The Bible can be read aloud in 70 hours. There are 8,674 different Hebrew words in the Bible, 5,624 different Greek words, and 12,143 different English words in the KJV. A number of verses in the Bible (KJV) contain all but 1 letter of the alphabet: Ezra 7:21 contains all but the letter j; Joshua 7:24, 1 Kings 1:9, 1 Chronicles 12:40, 2 Chronicles 36:10, Ezekiel 28:13, Daniel 4:37, and Haggai 1:1 contain all but q; 2 Kings 16:15 and 1 Chronicles 4:10 contain all but z; and Galatians 1:14 contains all but k.

The Catholic church reamains true to Oral and Written Tradition to include the sacred scriptures. It has been argured in Catholic circles that the “Bible” as such may have been the Devil’s way of attempting to destroy Christs church. That is an interesting thougth. I know it sure hasn’t kept us together.

God Bless,**

Precisely:D
anyhow: The bible was send on its way by the Holy Spirit at Pentecost.

But what’s even worse badly worded, that’s my English in this forum. Leela and others didn’t understand me in the least, and finally I got this mail today:
“your English is ‘English pattern’ speech and not American pattern, and needs a little translation”
so, I wonder if anyone understood what I was talking about lately 😦
I think I’d better leave in order not to ster up wrong conclusions when I speak about holy things, making people think I talk about the weather or crack jokes :rotfl: 😃

Anyhow: Weather here is sunny and I’m taking the dog for a walk now (that was off topic smalltalk not holy - :tsktsk: )

I know it sure hasn’t kept us together.
**Right; it hasn’t kept all Christians together. Too many… (see above).
But however; Catholics know which version is nearest to the Aramean, Hebrew or Greece original.
In continuous work, the Cath. Church works on as near as possible versions.
And still:
The Bible isn’t a Book one reads like a book about gardening or how to be happy, but the Bible is red by heart and in constant prayers for God’s help to really understand.

Definitely it’s true, that…
  • if the Bible simply is “red” simply as “a book” it will not make itself understood. A great deal of personal hermeneutics is required to understand.
Quite often, quite simple people understand right away what they red in the bible a sentence, on which a professor puzzled all his life in vain.
There’s but one way to read AND understand the bible, and that is in closest togetherness with heavens - God - in believe and faith. Those who doubt, will never understand.
