If the thread exceeds 1000 posts and is closed then Ag_nt you should seriously consider starting another:Great. How you think Cinette is going to sell tickets to the gig with that kind of publicity
OR…
Martin777 and SIA and ‘‘us’’ will have a very healthy, vigorous, erudite discussion, both sides listening and learning, and maybe, just maybe, a seed will be planted, from which a rich fruit tree will grow.
That nearly brought a tear to my eyeIf the thread exceeds 1000 posts and is closed then Ag_nt you should seriously consider starting another:
Calling all Protestants - AG_NT’s CHALLENGE!
Seriously, I am going to pray that we can have a good debate. This is not a contest. However, there are a number of individuals on this thread that have made some serious allegations about the Faith and some have been downright insulting and heretical. We should consider also that there is an individual here who might be “wounded” from his past.
So, gently, intelligently, charitably, studiously, seriously, lovingly…let us discuss the Christian faith in the light of Catholicism. Are we not all members of God’s family. When I look at the terrible horrors of this world I ache for Christians to be united. We could achieve so much more.
Love you lots
Cinette

Agh man! So it is to bed now? In my part of the world we are all preparing to go to work or whatever…I unreservedly and fully apologise for that remark. Im working on one pc and reading lots of threads at the same time on this laptop. I misread and mistook your comment about not being a scholar to mean you didnt have the degree you claimed you did, which is not what you said - and I apologise.
Goodnight to you too. And God Bless.
He’s goneAgh man! So it is to bed now? In my part of the world we are all preparing to go to work or whatever…

What’s the matter with you and all this name-calling?Do not answer a fool in his fooly. You said nothing that need be answered.
I tried to find something to respond to, but you did not make any points of your own. You simply applied your false beliefs to things that you thought made sense. If you want to address me, please don’t do it so pointlessly.Hank, these are all good verses about not makng an idol out of money. However, they have nothing to do with gambling.
The Catholic church does not teach that it is wrong to eat meat.
No, Hank. Salvation has nothing to do with how someone “feels”. It has to do with being in a right relationship with God. Sometimes, this actually is the opposite of how one “feels”.
There is a big difference to working out what has already been placed within, and working “on” something. We cannot “work” our way to heaven.
Are you trying to be funny, or are you really just ignorant about this? Were you taught a Catholic prayer where you were “begging Peter to intercede with Mary”? I have never heard of such a preposterous idea, however, I concede that I have not heard it all!
There is some truth to this, yes. Clearly the saints do intercede for us endlessly before God.And if our righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and pharisees, we are on the way!
are you suggesting that God’s word does not tell us we are to work out our salvation?
And it has been! However, we know that not everyone receives that gift, do they?
I don’t think he does know. I am not sure he is reading the posts, either. It seems to me that he has come here to enjoin us to repent, and leave the errors of Catholicism.

According to the Apostolic Teaching, we entrust our souls to a faithful creator:
1 Cor 4:3-5
3 But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged by you or by any human court. I do not even judge myself. 4 I am not aware of anything against myself, but I am not thereby acquitted. It is the Lord who judges me. 5 Therefore do not pronounce judgment before the time, before the Lord comes, who will bring to light the things now hidden in darkness and will disclose the purposes of the heart. Then each one will receive commendation from God.
Failure to do this is considered the sin of presumption.
Did you know that this is part of a Catholic creed?
These things are all true. I know this is off topic, but how does one get a degree who has such atrocious spelling?
You still have not substantiated where those “scriptures” came from. How do you know the book you are whacking us over the head with is really Scripture?
It also says in the Bible that it’s a sin to call someone a fool… and you just called me one, but anyway…Do not answer a fool in his fooly. You said nothing that need be answered.
When one has the Holy Spirit, he knows that the will of God is to take His gospel to all creatures. Even to the ones who don’t know they are sick so they may see and be healed. How sure are you that you are following Christ? To follow Christ is to DO HIS WILL. To do what HE COMMANDS.
For that matter, how do you know it is His will?
How do you know that you have the Holy Spirit? You are making BIG claims here. Pride me thinks. When one has the Holy Spirit, he knows that the will of God is to take His gospel to all creatures. Even to the ones who don’t know they are sick so they may see and be healed.
Wow! This is too strong to even respond to.Those verses don’t say anything about gambeling. Just about money or greed. So you’re infering gambeling is wrong from these verses. Then a business man who manufactures a product (we’ll call it a wigit, yes I went to business school) and is unsure of the demand and takes a chance by puting large amounts of capital (sum of money) with the hope that it will pay off is therefore a sinner? Or better yet how about stock traders who trade betting on selling shares at a higher price then when they are bought? You need better verses to prove your point.
And again. What could I add to this conversation? Your wit overwhelms me.So… You don’t fast. Which is why many baptist pastors are very fat.

Why is everybody an expert?
And, do they have the right to criticize?
Yes
I run into non-Catholics Protestants all the time, who criticize Catholicism and have all sorts of opinions on Christian beliefs and why the Catholic Church is wrong about this or that… and yet, these same people, seldom, if ever… attend any church and do not themselves, behave like Christians.
** Well, I consider myself a member of the Via Media, so we don’t take kindly to the Protestant comparison. There have been pletny of non-Roman Catholics who act in anti-Christian manners, just as many RCs have in the past as well. It all deoends on your personal commitment to pursuing the Christian way of simplicity and humility.**
Additionally, many of those who complain about, what is “wrong” with Catholicism, know little or nothing about Catholic beliefs.
**Depends on the issues, now doesn’t it. **
Now, what’s up with that?![]()
Try dry witticisms when you have no come back? Hmm, maybe a wise move. And again. What could I add to this conversation? Your wit overwhelms me.
