Yet this Muslim guy has over 1 million subscribers on Youtube…
And a lot of his followers are relatively young people.

I think your argument would be stronger if you just focused on the numbers in the pews and didn’t start trying to relate everything in the universe including CAF to the “Benedict Option”. Fauken nailed it in her first post responding to you, about 92 posts ago. There is nothing more to be said re CAF.
Because as a result of having been successfully raised by their own culture, Muslims remain engaged with their faith over and against the world.Yet this Muslim guy has over 1 million subscribers on Youtube…
The user count has gone up since the closure announcement. But yeah, it was disappointing to see the actual stats I linked to above. In all honestly, I find it very hard to believe there are only 70 users per day on CAF when I just counted roughly 35 users of this thread alone
Which again shows that people want a transcendent alternative to the world, not a compromise with it.there are sometimes people in the comments section writing “I left Christian now and now follow Islam” etc
Well, I linked to the stats from Gallup and WSJ and Pew throughout the thread, and they say what they say.I’m not seeing a shrinkage in people in the pews.
I’m seeing the pew population as stable and older.
Perhaps I was not clear on the earlier pattern I see.
People over 60. As older members move on, more over 60 are there replacing them.
I have been watching this in multiple parishes for almost half a century now.
A small private board with 100+ members, which includes non-Catholics that has existed for maybe a week. I’m not sure that’s consistent with the Benedict Option, especially the non-Catholics part, and it’s way too early to be calling it a success either way.But you started an alternative forum to CAF that is consistent with Benedict Option principles . You rejected the concept of the big public forum and instead made a smaller private board. Lo and behold, it worked… very well, I might add.
… in cultures without an all consuming secular culture.growing globally because of Africa, Asia, and South America.
How do you define “success?”A small private board with 100+ members, which includes non-Catholics that has existed for maybe a week. I’m not sure that’s consistent with the Benedict Option, especially the non-Catholics part, and it’s way too early to be calling it a success either way
Where is the sadness and defeatism? It is the world that is lost, not us.Sad, defeatest talk is the opposite of attractive.
I did not realize you were a Catholic convert. You joined the forums recently in 2019 so are you a new convert? There aren’t any. That is the problem. Case in point: Catholic Answers was founded, primarily, to defend the Church from Protestant attack and to make converts out of them (and I am one of them.) This forum is supposed to do just that. Back in the day, it worked (and I am proof.) But it doesn’t work anymore.
That’s because FB filters based on interests. Only Christians see Christian content such that we end up preaching to the choirno one engages except christians but I don’t encounter animosity anymore, the world has given up with me lol
Catholic since 2009. I have had different handles on CAF.I did not realize you were a Catholic convert. You joined the forums recently in 2019 so are you a new convert
