and they put their Malthusian principles into practice by limiting themselves to one child. Ehrlich had a vasectomy in 1963, shortly after getting tenure at Stanford.
Ahhh…but see? They “indulged” in a child. If they were truly going to practice what they preached, then no children would have been the only way to do it. They had one child, sure, but what was stopping their one child from having only one child? Or their grandchild from only having one child?

My grandparents only had one child- yet look at what their granddaughter went and did!

Having only one child, as you point out, is no solution. What they must do is depart from this earth – so they will cease to consume precious resources and leave no offspring.😛

I had a “discussion” with a family member who borders on socialist. She was of the opinion that we should be taxed more and then the govt. could provide more services. I informed her that if she wanted to pay more, she could do so, the IRS does indeed accept donations when you file your return. Nothing was stopping her.

She got very quiet… 😃
I have a tax question radio call in show. For years I have made an offer to do anyones tax return for free if they will use the tax rates in effect before the “infamous” Bush tax cuts. I have yet to have any takers.

There are a few givens when talking to people about taxes:

I pay too much
The “rich” pay too little
Anyone who makes more than me is rich

Ribozyme, the one who started this thread and is pushing the issue, has offered only one solution to alleged overpopulation: suicide. So indeed the only way for him to maintain any integrity on this position is to, indeed, take his life and persuade others to do the same.

I think he’s disappointed that he wasn’t accepted by Heaven’s Gate, and so couldn’t leave on the Hale-Bopp comet.😉

Whoa!

You can’t just throw around these SSS accusations like so. I mean, you might just get a spot as Fox News contributor, but ask yourself, is it really worth the ethical price?

Show some respect – the kid is in real pain over his disappointment.😛

Big deal, he’ll get over it. If only he overcame his silly aversion to Tinkerbell and Santa Clause, he would realize that with a single wish upon a star all his dreams would come true.

I think he only has one real dream – to get through life without ever holding a job.😛

I do not care if I have to work… I want to contribute politically in the way that George Soros had done. I want to engage in political activities too.

Contributing politically in the way that George Soros does is easy. Steal an old lady’s purse and donate 1% of the money to Planned Parenthood. Donate another 3% to the hard left. Keep the rest.

Won’t it be great once the Amazon Rainforest is gone
I agree, and this is why.

Nature is original sin exemplified. The amount of violence, animals killing animals mercilessly and instinctively. Animals do not serve a higher purpose, only attempt to further their own survival. How often do animals pray, donate money charity, or make pilgrimages to Jerusalem. Never. Nature is in no way a fellowship of animals, like it is portrayed on Finding Nemo.

The Amazon Rainforest, like the Great Barrier Reef, are a testament to our disobedience to God. The sooner they are destroyed, the better humanity can turn its eyes from worldly matters instead toward heavenly concerns.

 Yikes…it’s also a sink for 10% of the worlds carbon, and it’s being cut down at a rate of 10.5 square km per hour - to be replaced by low quality farmland that’s only productive for a couple of years.

Hopefully you’ll put your money to much better use than Soros, I don’t care much for him…
