The Invisible Crisis: Small Children Crossing the US Border on Their Own

I read about this a while ago. I think each family has to consider the risks for themselves. For a family with young children who aren’t fully vaccinated, it wouldn’t be a very wise idea.
I agree! But these children need urgent, medical attention. Tuberculosis is not going to go away by itself. It is the government who created this situation with possible untold damage. I can imagine the panic that will ensue with the general public and perhaps this was the intended outcome. To further destabilize this country and push THE agenda!
But, other than that, it shouldn’t be too much of a big deal. It looks like the government isn’t going to do anything about them. It’s better they get in with a good family than used by gangs or trafficers.
Of course. In our morning paper it was reported they stopped a car here in our area because it was weaving in traffic and found several sick children. What evil to use God’s innocence for political gain. Of course, none of us, in our heart of hearts, could look upon such despair and turn away. (Can you imagine the horror of being in a foreign country, not even understanding what is happening to you, away from the only life you’ve ever known and unable to communicate!) Time to practice our faith regardless of the evil that initiated it.

“it is more than usually desirable that we should make some slight provision for the Poor and destitute, who suffer greatly at the present time. Many thousands are in want of common necessaries; hundreds of thousands are in want of common comforts, sir.”
“Are there no prisons?”
“Plenty of prisons…”
“And the Union workhouses.”

. “Are they still in operation?”
“Both very busy, sir…”
“Those who are badly off must go there.”

I’ve had my shots and so have my kids. Funny thing is…my grandfather came to this country at age 15 from Italy in the early 1900’s. I dont recall his relativez who sponsored him asking for a shot record. I suggest you refrain from any Catholic missionary work…you might catch something. And we wonder why there is huge shift from the Catholic faith to evangelical fundy faiths among Hispanics. Really?
I think it is charitable if people want to take in the needy and the immigrants. That is their personal call. I give cash to the homeless when I pass them, and many others choose not to for their own reasons. I do not judge them for that.

However, one cannot (not just you per se) continue to throw out biblical quotes to use against the nation if one does not leave their own doors open to the homeless and needy already here.

I suspect, without proof of course, that if most members here came downstairs at 3 Am and found people sleeping on their kitchen floor or watching TV, they’d call the police and have them removed. If we are to let the bible guide us, as we are told we should with regards to our borders, these same posters should simply allow the random people to stay and foot the cost. That would be the Christian thing to do, correct.

And yet, i suspect most of us lock our doors at night…

Actually, all that land in Arizona, California, Nevada and New Mexico really belongs to Mexico as the USA killed 60,000 Mexicans as they illegally grabbed and annexed that land from Mexico.
Not too sure about California. But the parts of AZ and NM were bought and paid for in the Gadsen Purchase which was accepted along with the cash by Mexico well over a century ago.

You know what? My husband’s relatives also came over on the boat from Italy as well as my Dad and stayed at Ellis Island where their name was changed from their native tongue to something more “American.” They were *processed! * And please don’t dare to judge Catholics who #1.) know the *authentic *social justice teaching of the Church including all the tenets, and practice their faith in charity and 2.) see the clear and present danger of a country they love being thrown to the wolves because of political ideology and outright deception. I will pray that the spirit of discernment come upon you.
You were the one who “asked” for thoughts. I gave you mine. I am well aware of Catholic social justice. I was wondering with your last sentence in that post if you were. My grandfather was processed however he didn’t have to change his name. It still appears on the ship register.

I dont see the country in any more danger than it was during WW2. …the McCarthy era…the Cuban Missile crisis…the Vietnam war…Nixon…911…the war we are still in…the flood of illegal immigrants who have come over the border throughout every administration for decades. There is no one political party to blame…it’s all of politics. Look how easy it is for the extremists on both sides to keep us polarized. …and pointing fingers for the government to “do something”. Positive change comes from the inside outward…from the smallest kindness. … I will remain an independent/moderate. … right now there are children…hungry…yes possibly sick and very afraid.

The money we are sending to the countries where the children are from should be cut in half…in order to pay for the processing…getting the children identified as much as that can be done…allow faith based organizations to assist with whatever they can…and move forward. Close 1/2 the bases in Europe. …and bring the soldiers to the border and seal the thing up.

Right now the children need assistance. Show their countries. …we will help your kids…but you will be losing 1/2 the money we send … maybe they will wake up.
