of course. but nature dictates that life must do everything in its power to survive.
Bunch of BS The only power involved here is Elevating The God called pro-abortion onto the Church

All preganacy has a risk - people will die

Medical Errors - A Leading Cause of Death
The JOURNAL of the AMERICAN MEDICAL ASSOCIATION (JAMA) Vol 284, No 4, July 26th 2000 article written by Dr Barbara Starfield, MD, MPH, of the Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health, shows that medical errors may be the third leading cause of death in the United States.

The report apparently shows there are 2,000 deaths/year from unnecessary surgery; 7000 deaths/year from medication errors in hospitals; 20,000 deaths/year from other errors in hospitals; 80,000 deaths/year from infections in hospitals; 106,000 deaths/year from non-error,

adverse effects of medications - these total up to 225,000 deaths per year in the US from iatrogenic causes which ranks these deaths as the # 3 killer. Iatrogenic is a term used when a patient dies as a direct result of treatments by a physician, whether it is from misdiagnosis of the ailment or from adverse drug reactions used to treat the illness. (drug reactions are the most common cause).

a moral dilemma. a choice between two evils: the evil of letting both die or the evil of aborting the fetus or embryo. this one is easy. save the woman, if thats what she is pleading for.

theoretically: if she is the last female on earth, nature wont have it any other way. the species must survive.
this is the pro-abortion person’s trump card: “what about the life of the mother? how can you be pro-life and not make an exception for the life of the mother?”

how often does this situation arise, if ever? there is never any moral ground for aborting a fetus, period. life begins at conception and no one has the right to terminate an innocent life but god himself.

There really is no more dilemma as a choice between mother and child rarely if ever comes up. Other than etoptic pregnancy can you give us a situation where a child needs to be aborted to save the life of the mother?

It is so rare as to be insignificant to discussion like this. The only reason it is bought up is to try to push the discussion to the extremes rather than focus on 1.2 million children slaughtered a year. As we have seen with Doe V Bolton the health of the mother clause is stretched to cover any abortion from the moment the child is conceived to the moment his head fiully exits the womb. A woman need only say she is afraid of childbirth and she must be allowed to abort her child regardless of gestation or any other circumstances.

No, you are incorrect. It is not a moral dilemma. With the exception of an ectopic pregnancy, (the Church’s position on this has already been explained here) can you give me an example of a situation where the child MUST die to say the mother? Note I am not asking for a situation where the mother’s life is in danger during delivery or other circumstance where she MAY die in an attempt to save the life of the infant. Zerinus could not answer this, and I doubt that you can too.

if you make an exception of abortion under medical emergencies only, you will still save 1.2 million children.

AMSTERDAM, Netherlands - A hospital in the Netherlands — the first nation to permit euthanasia — recently proposed guidelines for mercy killings of terminally ill newborns, and then made a startling revelation: It has already begun carrying out such procedures, which include administering a lethal dose of sedatives.

The announcement by the Groningen Academic Hospital came amid a growing discussion in Holland on whether to legalize euthanasia on people incapable of deciding for themselves whether they want to end their lives — a prospect viewed with horror by euthanasia opponents and as a natural evolution by advocates.

puppies, kitties, babies…no difference

There are some people that I’d consider putting out of my…errrrrr…their misery.

Well that is more or less what Mormonism teaches. The terminology used may be different, but it amounts to the same thing. So what is the problem?

zerinus
No, Mormonism allows *direct *abortion of some pregnancies, where killing the baby is the intended goal of the procedure and as a result, the mother’s life/health/sanity may be saved.

Catholicism allows for treatment of life-threatening conditions even when such treatment may cause the death of an unborn baby. One example of this is ectopic pregnancy where, according to Catholic teaching, an unhealthy fallopian tube(containing an implanted baby) may be removed to save a mother’s life, although it will result in the death of the baby. This is indirect abortion. If these babies could be saved, Catholics would probably be morally obliged to do so.

It’s true, in the case of ectopic pregnancy, following either Mormon or Catholic teaching leads to the same end result, a dead baby and living mother. The means to reach that end in Mormonism are different from Catholicism, though I doubt I could ever convince you of that, zerinus. Suffice to say, Catholics have no interest in sacrificing pregnant mothers.

Catholicism makes no allowance for abortion in cases of rape, incest or fetal deformity as we believe human life begins at conception. (Whatsoever you do to the least of my brothers…).

Good-Daughter knows what I am talking about. I started this thread partly in response to hers.

zerinus
I recently started a thread, trying to learn when human life begins, according to Mormon belief. zerinus, given the opportunity, chose not to give a direct answer(fair enough) and started this thread shortly after.

I wasn’t sure the two threads were related, but I did suspect this thread was both an attempt to discredit the Catholic position on abortion, and a veiled attempt to build support for the “compassionate” Mormon position.

Momrmons Hate Babies or they would baptize thier infants

Every one of those deaths was a medical mistake - prove otherwise

If you wan to talk about that, you can do so by starting a new thread. I am not stopping you to. I started this thread in order to talk about this subject. Just because you want to talk about that subject, that does not mean that I shouldn’t talk about this one.

zerinus
Dear zerinus,

I do sincerely believe that you are a reasonable person. That was why I am asking what the Mormon is doing in order to prevent the abortion in Nicaragua. If you get sick, you are not medicated the symptoms, right? That is why I believe that the problem does not lay on the one you called as “Killer Laws”. The real problems are elsewhere.

It is not okay to kill deformed or not perfect babies in the womb of their own mothers. It is not okay to decide you want a boy and kill a girl. It is not okay to decide that because the baby has spina bifida it is okay to kill it. It is not okay to kill a downs baby. These babies are people too. I work with these babies they are special and loved. They deserve a life. I know life as the parent of a special needs child is not easy as I live it every day but that is no excuse to kill your child. Even if my son only had a few days to live I would want him to have those few days to live rather than dismembering him inside my own body. Even if he had 0% chance of surviving I would keep him alive as long as I could cherishing every kick that made me want to pee until they stopped. I DO NOT approve of killing children who are not up to their parents standards and I am proud to be a part of a church that will back me up with solid religious teachings.
Jodi::amen:
I think it is sad when a church says it is okay to kill a baby! In the **mormon church ** it is okay in such cases of **rape or deformed ** children.
and this is MURDER
You can’t just pick and choose what God send to you…but they do…😦

i was referring to the scenario that the injured pregnant women is the last female on earth.
Well AgnoTheist, what, if anything, is even logical about this argument?

You can purposely kill the unborn child, and the mother may live, an hour, a day, a month, a year, 30 years, who knows? Tomorrow is promised to no one. It is probable that you just killed the last child to be growing inside the last female.

It is probable in such a scenario that a female child would survive to grow and mature and have more children than the mother ever would.

YOU DON’T KNOW. You are basing your scenario on the outcome that you WANT, the mother lives and becomes pregnant again. This is not the only probability.
