So you think the Acts of Thomas should have been included in the New Testament? Man, I’m glad you were not sitting on any of the ancient Church Councils. The Acts of Thomas was not even written until the 3rd century AD, so how could it have been an apostolic work worthy of inclusion in the NT?

It was written by a gnostic named Bardaisan in Syria. If you want to identify yourself with the gnostics and other heretics of old, go ahead. Gnostic doctrines were about as Christian as Mormon doctrines, so I think it’s a good match.
So you admit that there were doctrines practiced in the primitive church which are close to Mormonism and were surpressed by the church? Thank you. I will do just as you suggest, and that proves the apostasy nicely.

Incidentally, no one knows who wrote either the Acts or the Hymn of the Soul which doesn’t really fit into the Acts- the authorship is unknown although this one scholar quoted things the author of the Hymn is Bardaisan, though others disagree. Of course the Hymn could be and probably is much older.

I’m not scared of you because you are obviously not among those who do. 😃

No, I acknowledge that there have always been heretics who separate themselves from the true Church and follow charletans. The Mormon heresy is just a mish-mash of much older heresies, including gnosticism. There really are no new heresies. If you read the Early Church Fathers, you see that they describe all of the heresies that fought (and successfully defeated) way back in the first few centuries AD. Mormonism contains most of the same heretical beliefs battled by the ECFs.

Thanks for admitting that. To me that is evidence that those “heresies” were little shards of truth all pointing back to the real truth that was lost.

Boy that Joseph was quite a scholar to have made this all up, huh?

Would you care to let us know of any Mormon who does participate in 'blood feuds?" because frankly, I’m not aware of any.

At least, not of any CoJCoLDS…or come to think of it, any of the offshoot sects, either.

Ervil Labaron’s group…took BY’s teachings of blood atonement to heart, and then some.

Ron and Don Lafferty, also used the mormon doctrine of blood atonement to justify murder.

You are quite right. I had forgotten about those guys; fundamentalist polygamists who truly were very, very nasty pieces of work.

Oh, and Ted Bundy was a Mormon once. Excommunicated before he started killing women, but hey, who cares about that part? Aurthur Gary Bishop; he actually served a mission, but was excommunicated in 1974. He started killing people about five years later.

Then there is Mark Hoffman…but then his targets were the church and members of it, so one might have some difficulty figuring that it was the church’s teachings regarding 'blood feuds" (there’s a teaching about ‘blood feuds?’) prompted it. He, actually, was prompted mostly by greed.

Lessee…There is Butch Cassidy (a cousin of mine, actually…) though he wasn’t a serial killer as much as he was a serial robber. No real blood feud going on there. He was probably baptized when he was eight, though as far as I can tell he didn’t do anything else about the church, like getting the priesthood or actually, y’know, GOING. (shrug)

So you are right…there were some pretty nasty fundamentalist Mormons and ex-Mormons.

Jerusha, however, claimed that LDS, as in “members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints” practiced blood feuds.

I was able to find the above, but I haven’t seen any evidence of Jerusha’s claim. On the other hand, the sources I found didn’t mention Labaron and Johnson, either. Perhaps I missed someone?
