I find there is more insight comparing countries with normalized data
Spain is in worse shape than Italy
US not looking good

And it’s good to see my state (WA) is flattening it’s curve

I am going to start a prayer thread for NY. Medical authorities there state they ate going to run put of medical supplies by next Sunday.

We need to pray for them

Thank you Jean for linking this. DNR’s should always be discussed and it should always be the decision of the patient and not the medical services for DNR’s. She is right, a letter from the grim reaper with no choice or discussion.

That GP surgery should never had sent that letter out.

How are the frontlines, @TheHolyTrinity.

You are in my prayers.

I am on days off. Finally as of today we are testing people who have had no overseas travel or contact with someone who has been in contact with a person who has been overseas. I expect there will be a rise in positive results.

Enjoy your days off and well earned break. I also think when antibody tests become robust and freely available, it will be surprising to find out how far this virus has spread in a quiet fashion.

I agree with you. I hope at the end of this, antibody testing would be crucial to identify how far this virus has actually spread. Last reading a couple of days ago, that 8 mutations has been found. Dependent on which mutation a person has contracted will depend on how severe the illness is.

cientists found that severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) was detectable in aerosols for up to three hours, up to four hours on copper, up to 24 hours on cardboard and up to two to three days on plastic and stainless steel. The results provide key information about the stability of SARS-CoV-2, which causes COVID-19 disease, and suggests that people may acquire the virus through the air and after touching contaminated objects.

The findings affirm the guidance from public health professionals to use precautions similar to those for influenza and other respiratory viruses to prevent the spread of SARS-CoV-2:
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Stay home when you are sick.

Unfortunately, they should have also tested fabrics and on human skin. The reason is other viruses become non-viable faster on fabrics and on our skin than on other surfaces.

I like how Canada in Yellow was following the USA then turned sharply.
No thank you eh?

This highlights horseshoe theory. The extreme left advocating euthanasia. The extreme right advocating loosening social distance measures that will protect the vulnerable. Both sides deciding the fate of the vulnerable.
I wonder what the middle might look like, if one accepted the horseshoe model-which seems a bit biased towards the first world and the middle class, given that in many countries, starvation is going to become an issue pretty quickly if people do not get out.
Many of us are able to weather staying in to protect the vulnerable elderly or immunocompromised, but this in turn might, in many places lead to the deaths of the vulnerable impoverished. I’m not sure that the horseshoe works particularly well across different socioeconomic groups or from community to community or country to country.
On the other hand, its situations, like this one, that lead to the development of new theories.

I think the US has a new theory already waiting in the wings in the American Solidarity Party. I’m hoping that in Australia with the example of our practicing Christian, conservative PM at this time, creates a desire for such a party here in the future. Yesterday our PM legislated free childcare for everyone who is working through this crisis. A couple of weeks ago he doubled the job seeker allowance for the next three months and announced 2 x $750 payments for anyone on government benefits. The media idiots are calling him ‘comrade’ but they are too insular and uneducated to understand ‘solidarity’ and how it’s anything but socialism!
