It isn’t their business.
If I have an ambulance at my house, I expect they will be using standard precautions.
These should be in place regardless.
Same with police…and fire.
No, EMS providers don’t normally put on an N95 mask and personal protective gear for every patient they treat. Besides, I don’t know of a single jurisdiction that is giving first responders the information you’re talking about. Are you talking about the United States or some other country? Nobody here is sharing COVID-19 test results with law enforcement. I haven’t even heard of people who have a case of something that could be COVID-19 who don’t want to be tested, nor anyone with no symptoms and no known substantial contact who is being forced to get a test. It is more like people who would like to be tested can’t get a test without any evidence that they could be infected.

You tell me. These figures are conservative too, as many are not being tested.

It isnt over in 2 weeks, people are still testing positive after some time and there are long term health consequences for many. Age does not discriminate . There are also emerging issues as in the Kawasaki illness in young children.

Here.

The highlight - "In a growing number of cities and states, local governments are collecting the addresses of people who test positive for the coronavirus and sharing the lists with police and first responders.

Law enforcement officials say this information sharing — which is underway in Massachusetts, Alabama and Florida, and in select areas of North Carolina — will help keep officers and EMTs safe as they respond to calls at the homes of people who have been infected. "

So you see…the police are already being given this data.

What I can never understand is why some people do not understand evil and corruption exist, and not on a small scale. Many are very skeptical about privacy rights because they know instinctively that just because there are HIPPA laws, that doesn’t mean people won’t share the information. It’s the same for gun-free zones. Put up a sign. That will stop an evil person from bringing in a gun. Laws do nothing to stop people, they only punish people afterwards.

3,199,277 cases total (active, deaths and recoveries combined)
1,979,528 active cases of which
1,919,739 ( 97 %) are in relatively mild condition and
59,789 ( 3 %) are in serious or critical condition
1,219,749 cases with an outcome of which
992,959 ( 81 %) have recovered at least enough for discharge
226,790 ( 19 %) died
For the serious or critical numbers and for the deaths, are there statistics on age, co-moribities and other data that give us a better idea of who is dying? I know from what I’ve heard is generally it is older people and/or people with co-morbidities (not that their lives are any less valuable). Just want to know if there is data on that subset.

Also, with the many studies coming out from some of the major universities showing that infections (asymptomatic and mild) that have not been counted are on orders of magnitude higher, pushing the death rate (again all lives are valuable) well below 1%. I’ve seen and heard it may even be as low as 0.1%, but seen it as high as 0.9%.

So when there’s an active shooter in town and police yell “stay in your homes” you don’t?

No, because I’m:
  1. Not a coward
  2. Able and willing to protect my family
  3. Not willing to solely rely on the police (their job is to not to be the protector of me and my family, that is my responsibility)
  4. Think for myself and not cede rationale thought to authority just because they are authority, assess the situation, because even police are human, and don’t just act because someone tells me to
  5. Willing to take an active part in preventing evil and stopping additional death if I can do that

I would temporarily, not for a week.

I’d definitely come out after they achieved their goal of catching the shooter, even if they changed their justification that we remain sheltered in place.

With Corona, the stated goal was to not overload healthcare, and this was accomplished a couple weeks ago. Now it’s time to ease up restrictions with some mitigation remaining to continue slowing the spread.
  • No big events
  • Masks when around others
  • General 6ft distancing with reasonable exceptions (like barbers, who are wearing masks and spraying with Lysol between cuts.)
  • Ongoing vigorous hand washing 😉

What’s your take on restaurants re-opening? I envision them opening up again but with much less seating and strict limits on how many diners can be inside at any given time.

Yes, I think restaurant staff will have PPE and there will be fewer seats and/or plexi barriers. I have no idea how bars are going to operate, if they are allowed open. I think PPE and some barriers will give people confidence to eat in restaurants again.
