It has been said that only hospitalized people in China are being tested. I am sure the actual number is far greater.

I am just reading that a Chinese tourist to Bali tested positive. That is a huge tourist spot for a few nations.

Seems a lot of false negatives with testing, or incorrect swabbing or no virus in throat …
He said his test results had come back negative on multiple occasions before he had finally been diagnosed.

Chinese journalists have uncovered other cases of people testing negative six times before a seventh test confirmed they had the disease.

And similar issues have been raised in other affected countries, including Singapore and Thailand.

Health workers are among the dead and ill now. I have just been watching a doco that states in low temperatures some of these viruses can survive on surfaces for 28 days,

The first case on the African continent has been confirmed in Egypt.
I just read a stat that 6.5% of the world’s population is in lockdown or quarantine due to this virus.

Another first, an elderly man from China touring in France died. HIs daughter was sick but recovered.
He is the first Chinese to die outside of Asia.

I ran across a few products in my home today…Made in China. My heart felt pain and sorrow for all the times I never thought of the high population of people there working and contributing so much to everyone else…working class people.

Five US cities will now start routinely testing for Covid 19 on all patients exhibiting flu-like symptoms. More cities are expected to do the same.

Considering that China is a little over 18% of the world’s population I am surprised it is not higher.

I wonder how many they will find once the isolation has ended. Thinking of people who live alone etc.

They have real really tightened up what lockdown means in the last few days, I wonder if it is a result of better virus knowledge or something else

I wonder how many are managing, the lock down quarantine started on January 23rd, it is coming up to 4 weeks now. For many, how are they managing - mentally/emotionally and financially?

Are people who normally work, getting paid during this time? What about mortgages, rent , regular medications etc. Do people have enough financial resources to continue to purchase food etc.

Not much has been said in the news about this aspect. When you look at how people are struggling to cope in quarantine for not quite two weeks on the cruise ship one wonders how people are coping in the Chinese lock down.
