. . . “I think now consuming animal products is no longer just a personal choice,” (Joaquin) Phoenix said. . . .

This is part of the plan leftists have in their mind regarding THEM making YOUR choices for YOU.

They constantly speak for others, FORCE their mindset upon YOU, and EXEMPT THEMSELVES whenever they want to.

This FORCE is sometimes with a “sin” tax, brainwashing your children (to manipulate developing minds intergenerationally), or sometimes by abusing police actions.

This is a leftist elitist mindset,
that sees people as mere beasts that cannot control themselves
and NEED elites to make decisions
FOR THEM
about God, Guns, Religion, and even the food you eat as well as other things.

They view themselves as highly superior over you,
even though many times their personal lives are in utter disarray,
they could not hold a candle to you in school,
and they help kill-off their own family and friends with abortion, euthanasia, or affirming others that commit such self-destructive acts (including suicide which other living people hear the elitist mindset affirm the suicide victim and wrongly conclude that isn’t such a bad thing after all by the elistist enablers who are proverbially wormtongues against them.)

“Listen” carefully to not just their words, but their actions.

I live in the People’s Republic of California, so I have rules shoved down my throat on a daily basis.
(And I thank the Lord daily that the county I live in is one of the very few normal places left in this state). So, good ole Phoenix “thinks that now consuming animal products is no longer a personal choice”.
But killing a pre-born human should be a personal choice???

I’m confused, I thought being pro-choice was a “good thing?”.

Good point. Which leads me to my favorite quote. (At least my favorite quote today.)

Chesterton talks about that priority inversion phenomenon too.
Of all the marks of modernity that seem to mean a kind of decadence,
there is none more menacing and dangerous than
the exultation of very small and secondary matters of conduct
at the expense of very great and primary ones,

at the expense of eternal ties and tragic human morality.
If there is one thing worse than the modern weakening of major morals,
it is the modern strengthening of minor morals.

Thus it is considered more withering to accuse a man of bad taste than of bad ethics.
– G. K. Chesterton

Taco Mac took the Burrito Mac off their menu. So now I eat at Moes. 🙂

Going vegan to protect the planet?

I’m sure they will all fly into the ceremony?

The menu for a party I’m not going to really doesn’t interest me.

🤷‍♀️

Surely Mr. Phoenix is joking.
I see what you did there. Good one.

I love the Chesterton quote. Here’s another one by C.S Lewis. It concerns those who think they know what is best for everyone.

“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. They may be more likely to go to Heaven yet at the same time likelier to make a Hell of earth. This very kindness stings with intolerable insult. To be “cured” against one’s will and cured of states which we may not regard as disease is to be put on a level of those who have not yet reached the age of reason or those who never will; to be classed with infants, imbeciles, and domestic animals.”

C.S. Lewis, God in the Dock: Essays on Theology (Making of Modern Theology)

@ThinkingSapien by implication pretends like it is always just your choice.

But that is false.

And if guys like Phoenix get their way, more of your own decisions will be made for you by the elitists in the nanny state.

This is what the hard-core leftists day-dream of. Controlling others.

Great quote Zach!

Big deal, Mr. de Blasio…Catholic schools were meatless on Fridays long before you came along. 😉

@ThinkingSapien by implication pretends like it is always just your choice.
Oh dear, so they are coming for my 🔫 and my 🐄? No more 🍔 or 🥩? Only 🍃 🥗? And now that are talking about wearing the same outfit more than once?

😲

Seriously though, I think there are much better things to get outraged about than the unknown menu at a party that someone else is having.

Shall I also concern myself with the ingredients of the potato salad at a picnic a few counties away that I wasn’t invited to?

I’m sure that was influenced by onomatopoeia. Friday might have been a better day otherwise.

You’re missing the obvious principle TS.

Or maybe you get it, but don’t care.

Or maybe you get it, and like it when Government makes such decisions for the “plebeians”.

You are making my point.

Focus on the tree to miss the forest if you want.

Laugh it up ThinkingSapien. Some day you’ll figure out that they look at you as a beast too.

For everybody else (who is interested in how these guys REALLY think) . . .
. . . “I think now consuming animal products is no longer just a personal choice,” (Joaquin) Phoenix said. . . .
If people like this had the means to FORCE their ideas on you, they would do so in the blink of an eye in areas like this. For now though, they are stuck with carrying it out incrementally.

And naive (or malicious) people are always going go be there to tell you it is just an Oscar gala . . . while ignoring or downplaying the much more pervasive ideas and principles of people like Joaquin Phoenix.

I’m sure there are all types of thoughts from the raw animal products I eat. Steak tartare, sushi, and occasionally oysters or quail eggs.
If people like this had the means to FORCE their ideas on you
Oh I’ve had to endure hearing someone express an opinion to me before. I don’t know how I ever survived.
You’re missing the obvious principle TS.
That I should be upset if someone expresses a wish for a change in the world that doesn’t coincide with the wishes that I make?

I don’t agree with the label being used for people here. But as far as the school lunches go there’s no pathway in which a school provides lunch that doesn’t involve some government decision. There’s no government provided lunch that is free of government decisions.

If one really wants less government interaction with their lunch just bring a lunch. Though that pesky FDA might have gotten involved with their e.coli and other contaminant testing and other requirements for substances sold for human consumption!

So what.

The Government is involved in virtually ALL foods in America. Using your “reasoning” just reinforces my point. Government involvement to you = pretext to control “meatless” Mondays in this case. That principle can and would be extended by others like Phoenix.

And guys with ideas like your’s TS are going to continue to be befuddled thinking “Well Government is involved, therefore it is reasonable for them to nanny me on if I eat meat or not” in other situations too using the same “reasoning”.

You’ve always got the option of growing (or hunting) food one’s self:tomato:🥔🌽. I keep a garden myself. Though it isn’t to escape the government. I just like growing veggies. One can also grow animals for meat. We had chickens:chicken:🍗. Never anything bigger than that. Though one of our neighbors had cows:cow2:🐮.

We visited our grandfather one day and for dinner he went into the woods, shot a deer, and prepped it for dinner.🦌🥩 Visiting an uncle he prepped a fish that he caught:fish:🐠🐡. Now that fish might have been under government influence with the EPA of the time limiting what people could dump into the waters in which the fish swam. But I think I know of a pond that the government doesn’t know exists. I could get fish from there completely free from any of the influence of those environmentalist that had been part of the EPA.
Like I said. Laugh it up.
If you insist! 😁
