I’m sorry, I just started reading through this thread and this post caught me - I laughed out loud!hi wanner, people are confusing pointing out with interpreting. which is understandable. what i did was to direct someones attention to a prefix on a word.i stay away from interpretations by taking face value the scriptures. some things need interpreting, or, if you will, explaining. for example; eye of the needle. i used to think jesus meant a sewing needle until i read somewhere that eye of a needle was what they called the entrance to a city. it looked like an eye of a needle. but they were made small so camels couldnt get in and poop all over the city.you see, this isnt interpreting, its explaining historical fact, which looks alot like interpreting, and i guess can be construed as interpreting.
The city gate was not small so camels couldn’t get through so as not to poop in the city - pleese!
Jesus used that imagery to show how getting into heaven would be difficult - in order for a person, with a camel, carry supplies, gear, earthly belongings, the person would have to unload the camel to get inside the city.
It means, if we want to get into heaven, we must leave our earthly attachments behind us. We have to unload the camel before coming into the city, which is heaven. It’s the story of how it’s harder for a wealthy man to get into heaven - because he has more earthly attachments - not because they didn’t want camel poop in the city!
