Yes, I find the Biggotry aghinst Muslims on this board just stunning, let’s take a look.

Amen, but we Catholic catch some stuff, too. There is no reason to be a bigot, although some posters have lost loved ones in terrorist attacks. Those few have a basis. The biggest problem is that we treat Muslims like a homogenus group with regards to acceptance of violence against non-Muslims. They are not.

The Islamic creed itself teaches Muslims to slaughter us and every other “infidel”. We have no reason to pay our respects to such a savage and primitive cult.

Christ Himself used harsh language when denouncing the money-changers perverting the temple. He (righteously) used brutal, frightening terms when condemning those who lead children to sin.

Christ does not respect Islam. He hates it. I hate Islam. Islam itself is a sin, and we are taught to hate the sin.

One must keep in mind that there are several times the number of Catholics as of any other group: the odds of rubbing a Catholic and finding a crazy are higher simply because there are more of them. Given a sizable enough population of Mormons, Protestants (although there are a good many, and yes, some of them are nuts), and atheists, I’m sure we could find a comparable number of people who seem to have nothing better to do than attack others. However, those non-existent Mormons, Protestants, and atheists generally aren’t the problem. They’re pretty quiet.

Because this is a catholic forum, it appears that mods give catholics a little bit more freedom to offend non-catholics. in contrast to offending catholicism which is a strict no-no.

I would very much like to see Conduct Rule #7 (‘Non-Catholics are welcome to participate but must be respectful of the faith of the Catholics participating on the board.’) amended: either cut it off at ‘but’ or make sure Catholic posters know they are expected to be respectful of others’ faiths. One or another, but level the playing field.

I was not offended. However, I am not certain where the humor came from. Perhaps the juxtaposition of my response to what others said.

I am tired of the demonstrably false claim that Islam is a peaceful religion. Certainly there are sects within Islam that state war and violence is to be eschewed, but they are vastly outnumbered, and have always been. Islam has spread predominantly by the sword. It only flourishes today in those countries that were conquered and converted by force.

Islam has never been a force for peace or the dignity of individuals. The truth in this statement is that Islamic countries do not permit non-Muslims to worship.

While I have not been penalized, I think that those who have have been have learned their lesson. Usually such penalties arise from a poor choice of words rather than hate.

Telling the truth about Islamic violence is not popular. Still it must be done with care and charity, but never at the expense of truth.

I have seen virtually no Islamic bigotry on this site. And what little I have seen is from people who have been promptly banned.

This is the thing Christians don’t get. Jesus commanded to put your sword away, to be wise as serpents but harmless as doves, and to stay out of worldly things like politics and kingdoms.

But early on, from Constantine to the Popes and Crusaders to the Church of England to US Presidents waging wars, Christians have been rattling and raising their swords to build kingdoms of men, in direct violation of what Jesus said.

So it’s like Jesus was holding a football game between Christians and unbelievers and told Christians to play nice but they decided to play dirty instead. So Jesus brought in another team for God and allowed them to play just as dirty as Christians since Christians seemed to prefer those rules instead. But Jesus never changed the commands for Christians, so they are still hypocrites for using violence, and also for crying foul against the other team for doing the same thing.

So we see here who is worse, not Muslims who are allowed to be violent, but Christians who are not allowed to be violent but still are.

And your little picture here perfectly illustrates this defiance of what Jesus taught. If Jews had listened to Jesus there might not be a religion called Christianity, and if Christians had listened to Jesus there might not be a religion called Islam. So as far as I can see, it’s divine payback. It would have been better to do what Jesus said from the start.

I’ll be honest, God forgive me, there are people I hate. If I ever meet bin Laden I will do my best to kill him. That’s hate. I fight it every day. With Gods grace maybe I’ll be able to conquer my hate someday, but it is always a fight with me to keep these feelings down. Deep down I think we all have these feelings. Some have better control than others. That is why I believe in God, because without Him, I’m just an animal.

If given the opportunity, I also would help kill an author of murder and evil deeds like bin Laden. However, I would not be motivated by hate. I would be motivated by the desire to defend people from an unjust aggressor and an unrepentant mass murderer.

Ideally, such people like bin Laden would convert and surrender themselves to face the civil justice the deeds they have committed cry for. Unfortunately, I think the chances are not good that that would happen.

Christ taught people to love their enemies. And while he did say that those who live by the sword die by the sword, only the suicidal would interpret that to mean a person should not defend himself or protect the innocent or defenseless. Rather Christ meant those who use violence to force the will on other or use coercion to get people to convert. (By the way, conversion by coercion is permitted in Islamic theology.)
