Is there anyone here who is taught by Jesus?

Is there anyone here who gets their Answers from Jesus?
What do you have in mind?

Are you asking if I have had any special, private revelations of Jesus Christ, like St. Paul on the road to Damascus or like St. Stephen when he was being stoned to death? No, I haven’t had any of those yet, though there have been quite a few Catholic saints who have had such experiences.

For my part, Jesus teaches me in other ways, especially through his Catholic Church. I have heard the teachings of Jesus Christ in the Gospels read and commented upon (homily) at every Catholic Mass and I have also read his teachings for myself many times at home in my Catholic Bible so that I have a pretty good idea what Jesus’ teachings are for many circumstances. For those circumstances not dealt with explicitly in the Gospels or in the other New Testament books, I have recourse to what his “pastors and teachers,” the bishops of the Catholic Church, have taught over the past 2000 years and recently summarized in the Catechism of the Catholic Church. (Ephesians 4:11) I am especially glad to observe the bishops’ conciliar decisions as they are also the decisions of the Holy Spirit. (Acts 15:28)

As a baptized Christian, the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Christ, also dwells within me and guides me. Unfortunately, like many individual Christians (see Acts 15), I often find it difficult to discern his holy promptings from my own human thoughts and desires and from the deceptions of the Devil. Therefore, I am glad to obey and submit to my leaders in the Catholic Church, who keep watch over my soul and over the whole flock the Holy Spirit has given them to guard as men who must render an account. (Acts 20:28 and Hebrews 13:17)

Anyone here who receives humbly instruction, teaching and preaching from the bishops in union with the universal CAtholic Church, and from those delegated and commissioned by them to share the teaching office, and who is formed within the mind and heart of the Church through Divine Revelation transmitted through Sacred Tradition and Scripture most definitely is taught by Jesus and gets their answers from Jesus, so long as they humbly ask for, receive and heed the teaching of His Church. We have this assurance from the lips of Christ himself.

From the nature of OP’s question, I think this was what he differs with us on. We will see when he comes back.

I hope he does return.

Really when one comes to think about it, there are so many similarities between Christians (Catholic, Orthodox, and Protestant). We worship the same God. We have the same Scripture (to a degree; Orthodox have an even larger canon than Catholics, who have on the whole a slightly larger canon than most Protestants); we have the same goal --to hear the Lord, to follow the Lord, to love the Lord, and to love each other.

There are some powerful gifts that Protestants possess. There are some powerful gifts that Catholics possess. There are some powerful gifts that Orthodox possess. If we could only come together. . .

Just imagine a world where Christians possessed the Catholic /Orthodox Eucharist and the Mass/Divine Liturgy. . .where they preached with the fervor of evangelical Protestants. . .where they had the richness of all the traditions of 2000 years of western and eastern Christianity, and all the richness of 500 years of Protestant community-centered caring and sharing .

Wow, what a rich Christian faith that would be.

I suspect that the OP will not be back. At least not for a while.

A look at his posting history shows that he tends to come in for a short time then disappear for long stretches.
Since in his last posting he did not ask a question but made a statement as follows:Originally Posted by Foreigner
So then since you are directly taught by the Lord, you have no need that anyone else teach you.

I suspect that he feels he made the point he wished to make…of course I could be wrong…🤷…But I just looked and he has not been on at all today…

Peace
James

It sounds like music made visible and light made sound; like the smallest of whispers in the deepest most hidden recesses of the mind and like the thunder of a million lightning strikes that circles round a world. . .like the expanding of ripples on a pool and like the drawing in of petals on a flower. . .words that make Shakespeare seem like a hack and knowledge that makes little children wiser than Solomon. . .words to make a person cry in both joy and sorrow, joy for the glory of the Lord, sorrow for the sins we commit against Him, and then joy for the forgiveness of the Lord who pardons our iniquity and heals us. . .
Awesome & inspiring statement! I’d like to keep a copy of this in my laptop.

If CAF ever creates a poetry forum then be sure to post this therein!
