Good to know what we’re up against. Some of the FB comments express this same wish, in words. Many of those comments explicitly mention Catholics as targets.

I believe the statement of Mr. Sandmann. Videos back him up. It is the Black Hebrews who should be called out for their provocative profanities directed at the peaceful students. Here’s Sandmann’s full statement:

COuld you identify the time point in the video where you heard the kids chant that? CNN went through the video and did not hear it. So I would like to hear what you heard.I heard the “build the wall.”
The situation today is more akin to Spain in the early 1930’s than to America in the late 1850’s. It’s worth studying what happened in Spain in that decade before dismissing this comparison out of hand.Seriously though, it’s getting scary. There are literally millions who are on the conservative/right wing/GOP supporting spectrum and who HATE those on the progressive/left wing/Democrat supporting end and vice versa.
It’s getting so bad that I and others are starting to compare it with those who were North vs South in the decades prior to the American Civil War.
The level of hatred and disgust with those across the aisle is intense and palpable.
I find that the people who are so quick to accuse others of those charges, are actually describing themselves.Right. And I lived in Maryland for the past two years before moving out to the west coast and used to make trips to DC. There were (and most likely still are) many visitors who wore a MAGA hat of all stripes (white, african-american, asian, latino, young, old) every time I made it down there. Where I take issues is when people assume that one is a racist and bigot for wearing a MAGA hat and that it symbolizes hatred, oppression and intolerance. I think that in and of itself is quite ironic after this whole debacle.
It’s almost beyond comprehension that they haven’t retracted their statements. The lack of a retraction is just feeding into the stereotype that Catholic bishops are inept at dealing with difficult situations. They need to correct the situation now and issue a new statement immediately.
