I know, I just like getting some of the regulars here’s goat.🙂

It’s funny to see them get mad when they should know better. I think the word “Trent” in my ID makes them very nervous. 😛
Why?
I’m not afraid of Trent Lott.

Mindinao isn’t quiet when Abu Sayaff comes to town! Lots more terrorism in the southern islands…
Mindanao. I admit, its quite peaceful and more orderly here compared to the more crowded cities of Luzon and Visayas. In exchange for that peace though, it gets… kinda boring here. 😊

Halloween is fine just for fun. . .I thought it might be a holy religious holiday? . .

I think it’s veiled hate. I celebrate Halloween and I intend to totally enjoy every person
who comes to my door for candy and prizes.
I don’t care what the age of the person is.
I already have my decorations up. I try to show as much respect for the Pagan faith as
I do for any other religion. It’s a faith dear to the heart of some folks and it deserves
to be treated with gentleness.
Then you should respect a Roman Catholic’s acceptance of extra ecclesiam nulla salus, no ? 🙂

But hey, at least you see Halloween as a pagan holiday. That’s more than some Catholics understand. I don’t think pagans are hated by Catholics as much as you think they are. The inquisitions are long past, and weren’t the Salem trials conducted by non-Roman Catholic Christians ?

Not with our mayor. Frankly, people here are more scared of breaking the law and getting gun downed by motorcycle riding vigilantes than terrorists. 😛

So lemme get this straight. You believe that secularization kills the essence of a Christian holiday yet when the same happens to a pagan one, it is still pagan? Wow, your skill with double standards keep getting better and better.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

I know why you are upset, it’s because Samhain is what you live for. If you see no threat, that’s fine, but Roman Catholics are free to have their own opinions of it. I don’t know. Do pagans see the secular Halloween as a threat to Samhain ? I never insinuated it does or doesn’t.

I guess commercialization of a religious holiday only undermines it to the extent you let it. It doesn’t bother most of of pagans, as far as I can tell. It DOES bring on an unfortunate slew of cheesy reporting from the news media at this time of year. Despite it’s ancient pagan roots, Halloween really is a secular tradition which has much more to do with American schlock horror films and fall festivals.

Actually, Irish Catholics had a hand in establishing Halloween in the US.

ken, we might be on the verge of the apocolypse you spoke of the other day if you and I both agree we LIKE Halloween! I love it…(are the four horsemen coming yet?) 😛

Maybe we didn’t get the memo…because we celebrate Halloween.

I’m sorry, if you look at that my little info corner that’s next to the word Religion, you’ll find that mine is Roman Catholic. I guess you really do have bad reading comprehension. You’d have actually responded with a decent rebuttal.

Again, will you answer the question? How can you believe a secularized version of a “pagan holiday” remains pagan, yet believe that when its applied to a Christina holiday, it no longer remains Christian?

I thought you were cyberwolf 🙂

Sounds like somebody has lost their steam in the discussion…

oh well…Smallville is on…gotta go.😃

It reminds me of when I asked the priest who was going to marry us…how should we settle the problem of alcohol at the reception. (Hey it was and Irish/Italian wedding reception after all :D) He told us to have two separate drink tables…one with Catholic punch in the bowl/fountain and another with Baptist punch in the bowl/fountain. He guaranteed me that although there will be more Baptists at the reception, the*** Catholic punch bowl (alcohol table) will have to be replenished more often.*** 😃
:D;)

I don’t know about Catholics prefering Halloween to All Saints day…I plan to pass out candy to the little kids on Halloween. But come All Saints day…my butt will be in the pew…I’m excited to see what it’s about…(newly returned Catholic here)! And All Souls Day as well.👍
