I’m not a doctor, but I’m confident that the two issues are completely unrelated.
Okay, here is ortho trycyclin insert, read page 2

Here is Yaz, read page 2

Google the perscribing instructions for any brand of chemical birth control, you will see that the secondary method is to prevent an newly concieved baby from implanting, that will lead to a spontaneous abortion.

There is potentially a difference between the postulated mode of action of a drug, and the actual mode of action. At one time it was thought that PCC only worked by affecting implantation, then it was found it also delayed ovulation. So inserts do not constitute definitive proof.

If there is no implantation, there is no pregnancy. Common sense!
It wasnt common sense until the late 50s when the pharmaseutical companies developed the IUD. The idea that pregnancy begins at implantation is the product of a PR campaign. It is facinating to read the letters bewteen them and physicians on the need to change the change the definition of pregnancy from conception to implantation.

Wow! 44 pages! Too many polysyllables for me!

I’m not exactly sure what the point is. To my knowledge, if a woman never ever ever used any birth control, she, like every other woman on the planet, can naturally miscarry, and the frequency of this occurrence is rather high. Is your point otherwise?

My point is that Artificial Birth Control increases the number of spontaneous abortions. It adds to that death toll.

This from someone who doesn’t seem to believe that scientists can even know how many early pregnancy losses there are?🤷

Got it. I’m not very clear on the biological details, but I’m willing to accept your premise.

However, I also think it’s crucial to understand that it’s a naturally occurring phenomenon. Thus the death toll from naturally occurring spontaneous abortions is part of the plan that your God designed.

It’s a dubious premise that Kage_ar relies on, since the endometrium is different in an anovulatory cycle from an ovulatory cycle.

Life belongs to God. He sets the time of our death, we may live one minute, one decade or one century - it is His to give and take.

WE sin when we take that power ourselves, we cannot murder.

The pill prevents pregnancy; it doesn’t terminate one once conception occurs. Some argue that while the pill may just prevent implantation and not fertilization, recent studies have shown this mechanism to be false. Therefore, no spontaneous abortions are the result of the pill.
Source please.

I now comprehend what you are saying, that a sponaneous abortion is not the same as a pill influenced lack of implantation. Even certain Muslims are on board with this approach to splitting hairs.

And to Catholics, this really isn’t an issue since we are to be open to new life.

A baby is conceived before plantation. So I am not sure where your common sense comes from.
There is a bit of misunderstanding in both pro-life and pro-abortion circles as to these terms and the relevance.

Life begins at conception.

However, biologically, pregnancy begins at implantation.

That’s how the pro-aborts can get away with saying the emergency contraceptive and IUDs et al, do not cause abortions, or the medical term “terminations”, as an abortion is the natural or intentional ending of a pregnancy. And since pregnancy doesn’t start till implantation, they are biologically correct.

They’re just being grossly dishonest though, by avoiding the fact that while not pregnant, the woman is still carrying a human life in the pre-implantation stage.

yes, there is, this is the medical term for a pregancy that terminates before term, spontaneously, without any intentional intervention. that is what the word “spontaneous” means. You are referring to deliberate abortion. The adjectives are important.
Interestingly enough, Americans in particular I’ve noticed, have their terminology mixed up.

Abortion is actually a miscarriage. Threatened abortion, incomplete abortion and spontaneous abortions are in reference to the different types of miscarriage.

“Abortion” in the American sense of the word referring to the procedure carried out 4,000+ a day is technically, medically, referred to as “surgical/medical termination of pregnancy”.

I’d wager the pro-abortion movement started using the term “abortion” to try and peddle off their pre-natal homicide as a natural act, when in fact, surgical termination of pregnancy (STOP, poetically enough) is a lot harsher advertisement.

Its also a great big nusiance because it means you have to be very careful in referring to “abortion” and “miscarriage” when discussing a woman’s medical history, as a woman who’s miscarried might be horribly offended if you use the word “abortion” as she may see that as the intentional destruction of the uterine life, as opposed to the natural miscarriage.

It’s the same semantics game as “pro-choice”, conception vs. implantation, etc. Thanks for pointing it out.

Wow. The very fact that this blows your mind is what blows my mind! I thought that this was a well known fact!

Thank you for not bothering to read previous comments. Your reiterated statement of “plinko is stupid; how could she not have known this fact?” is falling on increasingly deafened ears. I GET IT. You guys think I’m dumb. Seriously, this thread has no point. Can we PLEASE close it?
