The East has been doing just fine for the last 1000 years spiritual, liturgically, etc. without Peter.
Without Peter?

He was in Church when I got here. Where did he go?
Per the Encyclical of Pope John Paul II, it seemed pretty clear to me that he thought that the West needed the East, not the other way around.
None the less, it woud be more than nice to be together again.

Btw, my priest was a member of the Cardinal Ratzinger Fan Club (and has the official stein for his office coffee), and I’m a cheer leader.

It’s amazing to me how those who leave Rome are immediately accused of either one (or both of two things). 1. You didn’t know anything about Catholicism! 2. You have a hatred of Catholicism! The apologetic thought process cannot simply comprehend that someone legitimately disagrees with the teachings of Rome and must instead be defective or psychologically damaged. The arrogance is astounding.
I see what you are saying. But don’t let it bother you.

Who knows perhaps a few years ago, I would have made the same or similar comments.

Just in prayer place those who make such allegations into the hands of the Theotokos, she will take that person or persons to her Son, Jesus, and He, the Divine Physician, will heal their heart(s).

I know what the Catholic Church Teaches and I know that I do not hate Catholics or the Catholic Church. I know it, God knows it. If any accuse me of anything, they simply do not know what is in my heart and mind.

Trust them to God and don’t let it stress you. It doesn’t stress me.

May we all be blanketed with the Peace of Christ which surpasses all understanding.

No need to leave permanently. There are plenty of Orthodox Christians on this forum who are a part of our online community. The Eastern Catholicism forum would be a good place to hang out especially since you will be participating in the same liturgy that many Eastern Catholics use (Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom?)
Yes. Why leave?

You thanked CAF. Why not repay the favor?

yes, sometimes discussion gets heated, but I’ve learned lots, on the Vatican (and that includes good things) and Orthodoxy and evern the Protestants, including the Lutherans (I didn’t know before that I was not supposed believe in consubstantion). And I’m from the University of Chicago (BA-PhD), and we don’t think can learn from anyone.

Yes, I know it’s hard to be humble when you are Orthodox, but let’s try.

Prayers I would not expect to be answered in my life-time because Rome would have to do so much back stepping in renouncing the heresies she currently embraces. Per some on Eastern Catholic Forums, Rome has already begun back stepping in regards to the doctrine of Limbo which is a definate start. Yet, because of God, there is always hope.
Looks like you bought the Eastern Orthodox anti-Catholic propaganda lock, stock and barrel. Too bad. You’ve separated yourself from Christ’s true church and, IMO, hence from Christ Himself.

Again, Christy, God bless you on your journey!

Christy and Isa Almisry,
I hate to infiltrate this thread, but I began a thread a few days called “Sacrament of Reconciliation”
I was wondering if one or both of you could reply to it.
I am sure by now it has gone a couple pages back, but if you do not mind I would greatly appreciate it.

I have enjoyed reading what you both have been teaching me about the Orthodox faith! I said a while back that I visited my uncle for Easter at his Greek Orthodox Church which bares the name The Assumption.(Looking forward to the Feast!) I fell in love with the liturgy! Christy, I can understand why you are in love with the Orthodox Church.

The seven sacraments put us so close to Christ that people have no idea until they experience them! (Well…I cannot say I have experienced anointing of the sick, nor holy orders, nor matrimony, but I think you get my point.)

The Catholics are here to assist you on Papal Infallibility and The Immaculate Conception.
😉
Not quite. The East has been doing nothing the last 1000 years spiritual, liturgically, etc, w/o Peter.
Oh? We’ve had 64 of his successors in Antioch, and 61 in Alexandria since the Vatican decided to go out on its own.
They are stuck in history because they do not have The Holy Spirit to make sure whatever the pronounce is not pronounced in error.
Since we haven’t been mired in heresy, we haven’t needed an Ecumenical Council. We’ve had several Pan-Orthodox councils, thank you.
The do not have the authority to change anything, so, they liturgically stagnant.
yes, we’ve never needed a Vatican II.
Anyway, I for one do not feel that you are sincere. You do not love the Orthodox Church, but are very angry towards the Church of Rome. You do not show that you have Love in your heart and a mature will to do this respectfully with dignity and grace. With God’s Grace, this is not how one would act.
I pray for the Orthodox Church to which you are going, that they can help you get over whatever issues you have and I will also pray that you do not drag the building and it’s people (for the Orthodox Church is too strong as a whole) down with you in your bitterness. Your martyr complex here does nobody any good.
I hope you part friends and fellow Christians.

God bless you,
Mary keep you,

~ADSTrinity

Actually, from what I’ve been informed all Eastern Orthodox have been banned from going to Eastern Catholic Forum. Roman Catholics often go to that Forum and attack the Eastern Catholics for their beliefs and when the Orthodox consistantly came to their defense, they all got banned. That’s what I was told anyway…
Not exactly. I don’t want to go into details, but I’ve posted frequently of late, and have others in the Orthodox Church.

**T **minus 3 hours and 50 minutes and counting!
Shouldn’t you be in prayer, or doing something more meaningfull than trying to make your conversion story a show for everyone to observe? I’m sure there would be many psychologists that would get a kick out of this one.

Okay this is it!

GOOD BYE EVERYBODY!

Good Bye all Catholics: Western and Eastern! Perhaps you’ll follow me one day on this journey. Whether you do or not, I wish you all the very best spiritually and physically!

Good Bye all Protestants: All 30,000 plus types of you! I hope you too will enter the Orthodox Church one day. Whether you do or not, I wish you all the very best spiritually and physically!

Good Bye fellow Orthodox: I’ll see you in Church!

PEACE TO EVERYONE!

:extrahappy: :extrahappy: :extrahappy: :hug3: :extrahappy: :extrahappy: :extrahappy: :grouphug:

Hasta La Bye Bye!

Sorry! Too excited not to.
:extrahappy:
Good for you, I’ve debated quite a lot on this forum with them, and they couldn’t answer many of the questions put to them.

The famous " development of doctrine" one they tried to squeeze out of, and there’s more, but one will suffice, and not much point in going over old ground, I bid you bon-voyage.

Are you saying that West is free from pride and always acting in charity?
No, I wouldn’t make a sweeping generalization like that. Just given that fact that the Greek never truly tried to understand Filioque and still generally hold certain things like as an excuse to remain in schism. And we can honestly say that, since there a quite a few Greek scholors today that say the problem was in the translation of Filioque from Latin to Greek; however, we still see Orthodox lay teething at how “wrong” Rome was/is on this issue. Absolutely uncharitible. From what I can tell from the last 600 years, Rome has made every attempt to view Orthodox beliefs with charity and it has not been reciprocated. Florence anyone?

I mean the Greek all but disregard every Latin Father of the Church like what they wrote means little to nothing. Even when Greek Fathers agree with Rome, well they were just “mistaken” and “human.” Hardly an objective viewpoint; it seems more like picking and choosing with what is convenient to justify a schism.
Well, I call myself that right now in union with Christ’s Holy Orthodox Catholic Church.
Call it what you will; the only One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church I know of is the Catholic Church. And of course, there can only be one.

Thank you Catholic Answers, especially the Eastern Catholic Forum, for leading me back out of communion with the Roman Church and into communion with the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church aka the Orthodox Churches!

I am so happy and relieved to be joining the true historical Church which has been protected by the Holy Spirit which has prevented it from teaching error for the last couple thousand years. The Roman Church has not had such a protection which can be seen clearly with the doctrines it has come up with in the last several hundred years since the Church of Rome removed herself from union with the Churches established by the Apostles.

Thank you!
I’m wondering why one would wait until coming into communion with the Orthodox catholic Church to re-leave the orthodox Catholic Church (or any church for that matter).

If the Catholic Church is heretical and one knows it, isn’t one obligated to leave asap?

she’ll be back!! LOL we may not know it, but she will sneak back and read some threads. LOL
