If I were the Dems. I’d just stall and go ahead with their recall petitions. Then Run Walker and the rest of the Repubs to ground. But thats just me.🤷
That’s all well and good and I sympathize greatly with that position, but things aren’t strong enough for the unions yet to attempt such a thing or for the Democrats for that matter. It would surely backfire on them and any advantage they had would quickly disappear.

I think they need to sit with the Governor and see if they can hammer out a deal.

Walker won less than a six months ago. There is no reason to think that he would not win again. A recall this quickly based on an elected official doing what he said he was going to do during the campaignis sour grapes. I think that most people are fed up more with politicians that stall, run away and play other games than any single topic.

BTW - It is Democrats and Republicans, not Dems and Repubs.

I agree with part of what you say. This comment you quote was for the democrats. They are going ahead with 8 recall petitions. All they need are three. It’s a safe bet, they’ll get them. for the record, I’m a staunch pro-life voter. I’m at war with the republicans because they have turned on me. They picked this fight and they should suffer because of it. Then we’ll see how it goes from there.

For the workers, I posted this.
“I’m thinking it’s the looming threat of recall . I just hope they are all sitting at the table soon.”

Walker is safe for one year. As I posted above, there are eight recall petitions at the moment. His support is about to evaporate. Tides seem to be turning quicker each year.😉

You’re right, I should’ve been more careful with my wording. It’s only the Democrats that can get recall notices up and going. Some of the people might prefer that, but it’s essentially up to the various politicians to act on that.

I got this realization in the middle of Bush’s first term.

So you are wishing suffereing on others now? Great Christian attitude there.

How about* “they picked a fight, and I pray they are able to see the error of their ways.” *Makes you sound less evil.

But the only problem with THAT argument is that the Church doesn’t recognize state (OR corporate) ownership of people, and recognizes the right of people to bargain collectively in order to keep whatever entities–the state, corporations or whoever (and their tendencies to try to GET ownership over people) more at arms-length, and less overpowering. And no unbridgeable gulf between state and private sector is recognized.
Civil servants have more legal protections than do employees of private entities. Wisconsin public employees have, in fact, more protections than do federal civil servants working in Wisconsin. AND , even under Walker’s proposal, more collective bargaining rights.

Hmmm…really.

Can you give specifics? Please include citations to any applicable laws that state that civil servants have more rights than private sector employees.

Federal vs. State is irrelevant.

Also, some Federal employees do have collective bargaining rights under the Civil Service Reform Act of 1978.

The Republicans in Wisconsin should quote our president, We won, great over it.

I’m merciful towards individuals. Organizations that attack me. Get no quarter.

Gov. Walker considering union concessions, emails show

By Eric W. Dolan
March 8, 2011 @ 8:53 pm

After three weeks of large protests, Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker appears to be willing to make concessions on his budget repair bill, according to an email sent to Democratic state Senator Bob Jauch.

The email, along with others from the governor’s office, were obtained by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel [1] through an open-records request.

According to the latest email sent to Sen. Jauch, Gov. Walker’s aides offered to amend his bill so that it would no longer limit public employee union bargaining over wages, mandatory overtime, bonuses, and hazardous duty pay.

The emails show that Gov. Walker began discussing possible concessions on the bill last week, but Republicans and Democrats have yet to reach a final deal.

E-mails reveal possible Walker concessions on union bill

The two Democratic senators, Bob Jauch of Poplar and Tim Cullen of Janesville, have met face-to-face in recent days with both Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald (R-Juneau) and Walker aides.

Cullen characterized the talks as “discussions” rather than negotiations since he and Jauch weren’t speaking on behalf of other Democrats. Jauch also cautioned that the two sides had never reached a final deal.

Cullen said he was disappointed Walker released the e-mails.

“I’ve never seen negotiations be done successfully in public,” he said. “I thought they were bargaining in good faith.”

Walker spokesman Cullen Werwie had no immediate comment on the release of the documents, which showed that Walker had begun detailed negotiations last week on some aspects of the bill after initially saying that the state “was broke” and unable to negotiate.

In the latest offer by Walker aides emailed to Jauch on Sunday
• The bill would no longer seek to limit public employee union bargaining over wages to the rate of inflation.

• The bill would allow union bargaining over certain economic issues, including mandatory overtime, performance bonuses, hazardous duty pay, and classroom size. On this set of issues, both labor and management would have to agree to discuss them for bargaining to happen.

• The bill would allow bargaining over workplace safety but that would be limited to workers’ physical health and safety. It would not allow bargaining over hours, overtime, sick leave or family leave, work schedules or vacation.

• Union contracts for public employees would be limited to a one- or two-year period.

• Unions would have to vote every three years to remain active, with the first of those votes coming within one year of the bill becoming law. The current version of the bill would require unions to vote to recertify every year and require them to get at least 51% of workers’ votes.

• Employees of the UW Hospital and Clinics Authority would not lose all union bargaining rights.

• The Legislature’s budget committee would explicitly have to approve changes to state health programs for the poor sought by the Walker administration. The budget-repair bill gives Walker broad powers to reshape those Medicaid health programs.

Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald said that his caucus Tuesday went point by point through the negotiations between Walker and Senate Democrats. But it was unclear whether Fitzgerald supported the proposals made to Democrats by Walker aides. He said Senate Republicans remain firm in their support for Walker’s bill.

“Were rock solid, we’re fine.”

Good news-The only real difference between this and what the Governor had orginally proposed is the union will have to recertify every three years instead of every year. I am surpised the Union is giving in on the provision thatthey will no longer allow the unions to dedcut their dues from State Employees checks. .

I assume this is the start of the negotiations. Since the Gov. has chosen not to bargain in good faith. We’ll have to wait to see.

He’s toast anyway.

I couldn’t agree more.

I miss Brotherhrolf as well. He was a good man. May His Memory Be Eternal!
Yes! I miss him too. He was one heck of a nice guy. :crying: Hard to believe it has been a year since he died.
