Actually it was a case of judicial activism that decided Roe v Wade. It’s no more settled than the next abortion case that the Supreme Court hears.

If things play out the way I think they might (no unions, corporate rule, a Republican politburo funded by corporate money in control of the government), no one who works for a living will be smiling for long. :sad_yes:

So if a dictator outlaws unions it’s wrong, but it a democratically elected government decapitates them it’s ok?
 
It should be noted that not one single Democratic Sen. voted against this bill

That’s what separates us from totalitarian governments. We have free elections to
decide the issues.

The people voted for the politicians who removed collective bargaining, If the people want collective bargaining returned, then they’ll elect politicians who support the return.

I for one am tired of all these partisan hacks pointing fingers. OOOOOOHHHH the Democrats do this and the Republicans dooo thhhiiiiisssss aaaahhhhhhhhhh. I have quit both parties and will remain an independent for my life. Why do we quibble so much and point fingers?We need to approach the situation in an objective and moderated manner. Are the unions too powerful? Yes, most likely so. Would getting rid of the unions hurt workers? Yes it would most certainly would! I live in Ohio were they just passed a Union busting bill that I half supported. The problem was that it was so partisan based that the good parts of the bill (merit pay, limit outrageous benefits, increase accountability etc.) were ignored by the Democrats, but the GOP pushed in the negative aspects of the bill on top of what was good. Let’s stop this all or nothing partisan garbage!

Yeah!!! I love your post! I am an independent/moderate. I have NEVER voted a straight ticket, EVER! I don’t tow the party line, nor do I bandwagon. Have the unions got out of hand …sure…have the union busters got of hand…sure…

These are the games the party liners are playing with our lives and livelyhood. This isn’t about what is best for the American people and the American worker…it is about “who” is “right”…and grandstanding.

Your physician tells you that you have diabetes and that you have to lose weight and take insulin. If you get mad and scream at him that he’s toast and ignore him, you will die and it will be your fault. You cannot change reality with rhetoric.

Sorry, I hadn’t realized that collective bargaining was an issue in the recent elections. Must have missed that part…

It was passed through illegally. The repubs classified the bill as non-fiscal, ie no longer about the budget. Then, they rushed the notice of the meeting, less than two hours, and held a vote. Both the re-classification of the bill and the notification time are illegal. On it’s face, it’s hypocritical to classify the bill as non-fiscal when that’s been the WI GOP’s campaign against it. The notification violates the state’s open meeting laws, specifically WI st. 19.84 section 3. This is the gripe.

What the H E DOUBLE TOOTHPICKS are you talking about? Walker inherited a Balanced budget. The only reason they have a looming deficit. Is because of his tax breaks for business. Can it be any planer?
