The WI GOP re-classified the bill as non-fiscal then rushed a vote ignoring debate from the lone democrat in the room. On its face, this action is hypocritical and a violation of open meeting laws (illegal). A war… perhaps not. A politically motivated attack… you betcha. If they can enforce this nonsense expect another check to be removed from the checks and balances between corporate influence and state law.

How right you are. In the last few years, unions have lost membership. Many people finally got wise to where their money was going. The union bosses do quite well for themselves on someone else’s money. If people in unions want to keep supporting these folks, that’s fine. As a taxpayer, I don’t. People who work for the government, federal or local, should not be allowed to form a union.

A liberal on Bill O’Reilly said the GOP had started a Civil War.

I thought, wow, now if the conservative had used that kind of language we’d be whistling a different tune.

As a taxpayer you don’t. Public employees pay out of their own pockets. Would you be willing to give all public workers the same benefits and conditions as private workers? For teachers, to equal the conditions of private teachers, you would need to build more schools and hire more teachers to reduce class size. Also, things like government furloughs and some state required certification need no longer apply. Do you want your public servants to meet any kind of standard, if so what and do private employees adhere to the same standard (for schools they don’t)?

That simply is not true. He inherited a 3.3 billion dollar deficit:

The tax credits were ONLY to be provided for businesses that would relocate to the state-thus providing new jobs. They were only for 130 million-about 4% of the projected deficit. Since the credits could only be given to new businesses it is arguable that they added nothing to the deficit.

Illogical.

Not all working class people but all union members are working class people. You remember sets and subsets in math, yes? Unions are a subset of working class people. Unions and working class people (unionized or not) are all on the SAME SIDE.

You may not realize it. You may not like it. You may think it’s the worst thing ever, but that all doesn’t matter. You and I are on the same side because you and I both have to work to put food on the table and a roof over our heads.

He can speak for unions all he wants, an overwhelming majority of them support Democrats and would agree with his statement.

But he can not speak for all working class people, because a majority of them are non union members, and many of them do support Republicans.

What we do for a living, from day to day, may be related in the sense that without it or something like it, we wouldn’t be able to pay the bills. In that sense we are on the same side of the fence.

Religiously, we may be on the same side, being Christians.

Politically, we are far apart.

Splitting hairs here, he said plainly that a Republican getting elected as President, not total power. That it would not bode well for unions AND working class people.

I took the long way around of saying speak for yourself, and the unions if you so wish.

Republicans have done very well for the employees of the cities/states that elected them during this recession…compared to other non-Repulican cities/states.

So, basically, besides reality and rhetoric, you can also have an “alternate reality” … kind of like my friends who live in that Web-based world … what do they call it? Second Life? Whatever.

Of course, then you live in your mother’s basement and she slips a pizza under the door every other day.

Really ? Brad Pitt and Alex Rodriguez are “working class people”. Belonging to an organization does not make one a “working class” person. There is nothing noble in in of itslef of being a union or belonging to a union.

Working class people and union people are alike; just that non-union counterparts do not have the rights in the work place as do union represented people. In no case should we be looking at the balkanization of all working class people in this country based on labor status.

Good thing that he doesn’t speak for the Liberals, otherwise you’d have had a lot of ammunition to use to be whistling another tune. 🙂
