That’s what I can’t stand about the singles sites – Catholic or not. I felt like I was being “picked over” by men looking for the “right size,” “right color,” “right style,” “right price.” Some of the things I heard from men made me want to scream, “THIS IS NOT A WAL*MART AND I AM NOT FOR SALE!”

Goodness, that “yelling” felt good

I’m totally open to what God wants, and He seems to be leading me in the direction of, what, meeting someone? I don’t know how to say it, but God can see further down the road than I. For what it’s worth, I highly doubt that I’ll meet that lucky man online.

That’s what I would always do too. Haha. You can learn a lot with just that. So far we’ve been working with models called ETA and WRF and are just getting into forecasting with computer guidance models. I successfully predicted the amount of snow we would get from the snowstorm we just had with those. And yes, all of those things. Right now we’re working on the jet stream and pressure systems, plus lots of analyzing maps, especially the skew-T/log-P at the moment.

Awesome. Right now I’m watching a possible winter weather event. In fact I believe our local NWS is about to issue a WWA. Carolina mountains will probably get a WSW though. Anyhow, it’s been tough trying to predict the snow totals with the models lately. Currently we have front coming through, which will bring some cold air in with it. Highs tomorrow are expected to top our around 39°F. Should be mainly rain throughout the day changing to snow in the evening. I don’t think it will take long for 850mb temps to cool off. Should be 0°C around 5:00- 6:00P.M. Surface temps may be a little longer, but once the snow starts falling I think it won’t take long to cool, especially with the sun down. I’ve said all along this would be a wait and see event since we’re so close to freezing and the model are not in complete agreement of the moisture spread. Bottom line, NWS has us pronged at 1-3". Will you be affected by this system? Where are you located? BTW are you taking college classes on this?

I know it dosent sound nice to be on " the market". Ofcourse people aren’t fruit. I guess its just a way of saying your available.

I took the long road. I knew early on that my vocation was marriage, motherhood, and teaching, but I went my own way for a really long time.

Teaching – breaking things down into smaller, understandable components – is a gift God gave me. Speaking in public comes easily for me, although performing makes me sick to my stomach and makes me want to run out of the building screaming.

Knowing it’s my vocation is just something inside. The first time I stepped into an elementary music classroom, something just “clicked” and I felt like I’d come home. High school choir was my first experience of music class, so I was surprised by this “feeling.”

At this point, I think God may be leading me in a new direction. My district is considering cutting music, art, and PE next year to meet a budget deficit. So I am taking the necessary steps to be licensed to teach elementary (K-6) education by the end of April. That’s two months of putting a basic history course ahead of my doctorate.

Wow I am a Mommy 4 7 great kids, not 47 yo.
I am a slim 35, I homeschool my kids and teach art in our Coop. and in my free time I work as a play therepist…there are people in this world who dont know how to play…How sad!
I also teach families the importance of play in learning.
I garden, I paint I sew I pray I read I sing I laugh…I get the kids to clean!
I am very active at Church. I teach the faith to children and adults, and help my kids vollenteer as much as possible!

First of all, how can someone with ***seven ***kids find the time to play on the computer? :hypno: Hard as that might be to believe, I’m afraid you’re going to have to convince me that there’s a way to get kids to clean anything! EVER!

HI everyone. I haven’t read through the whole thread, I jut thought I would join.
I’m 23 and female. I’m in grad school for a masters in library science. I hope to become a conservator.
In college I majored in classics (Latin and Greek) and minored anthropology and religious studies.
My favorite saints are St. Gianna Beretta Molla and St. Cecilia. I also love the Blessed Mother.
I love classical music, and some other music, but not mainstream popular music at all. I really don’t care for modern contemporary music at Mass. I’m not against the Novus Ordo, but I do wish it was done more solemnly. I have been to two Tridentine Masses, and would probably go regularly if there was one near me.
I really like Theology of the Body teachings.
other stuff about me: I’m vegetarian, I play clarinet and flute (though hardly have time now), I recently re-learned how to crochet, and I’m working on a blanket that I started with my grandma when I was little.
well, I don’t really know what else to say. PM me if we have any mutual interests I guess.

well Black Dog…two things first, I live with seven kids…I need adult interaction, preferably intelegent interaction, I dont play on the computer, but I figure Catholic answers is a heathly place to hang out these days. We are all pretty like minded, in most areas.
Second right now the kids are cleaning up after supper. My 13 yo is sweeping the floor, my 12yo is putting away leftovers, the 10 yo is cleaning counters, my8 yo is washing dishes my 7 yo is drying and putting away, my 5 yo is clearing the table and 2 yo is “washing” the bench. I train them young. They all know, Mom has to work in the office (shhh dont tell they think I am still working!) they do their part of the work, then we can play together, card games tonight then a movie together later. Now if you have any form of OCD, please dont eat with us. I cant make any guarentees. But they have learned responsibility and they all know how important they are to the rhythm of our family!

You may be able to help me…My 13yo picked up “The Complete Works of Plato” over the summer for fun… she asked me for a referal for some good theologians to read… I said I would get back to her. That was an educational leap…Who do you suggest!?

Well mommybug47, I’m impressed. If I can get my kids to pick up after themselves, I consider it a great victory; but little do they know that I am going to tell them that a nice lady on the internet motivated me into making them do the dishes. (I’ve only got two, but sometimes it seems like seven.) They won’t be happy, but it will be fun for me.

I saw your post to Fidelia, and as a voracious reader, I find it amazing that anyone is reading Plato, let alone a 13 year-old, and I will read almost anything. Have you ever heard of Archbishop Fulton Sheen? I have seen re-runs on EWTN of an old TV show he used to do in the fifties. I am always in awe of people who are as smart as he was. I find myself almost hypnotized by him. I know he wrote a lot of books and if they are anywhere near as good as his show was, they would be worth it. I plan on trying one someday.

I have a small request…would all you in SE Wisconsin stop sending the cold weather this way? I realize you aren’t using it any more, but I’m freezing!

OK the kids are yelling, they will have to start the movie with out me…this is just too tempting.
I have habit of getting parents to motivate their kids but usually it is mom saying " Little does the dishes and mops the floor and she is two years younger, it is high time you start!" Then the kids still love me! My Mother was “the meanest mother that ever lived” and it was a title she loved. I was telling my kids I was the second meanest mother…but when I realized she could not say no to my kids, I kicked her off my throne…She cried. But my kids now say “You may be the meanest mommy, but you love me more than 's mommy loves her.” ( I may have started that when the little neighbor didn’t where a helmet and when mine pointed that out I was very sad for that child because her mommy didnt love her as much as I love my kids. Now when some one shows up to play on a bike, my kids feel real bad for them and hand them an extra helmet, and says “We love you!”)I guess it is not all that bad.
( Do they call this brian washing, if so I like clean brains, none of that junk hanging around!)

Many days we turn on Bishop Sheen in the morning and listen to him during Math time. His books are not fast reads, but great reads, I have several. I am never allowed to move again…we have too many books! Yup, teach them to read and they will never be fooled by a politician!

HA I am so done with this weather, I put them to work standing facing East blowing bubbles today… 7 kids you would think you got the hot air! I wish Some one in California would send all the schools out to blow bubbles facing North East! No wait…Arizonia, that moist air would hit the cold and dump more snow on me. I want dry warm air!

At first I thought it was a little odd that you were starting the movie at quarter after ten, then realized that Mid-Michigan is an hour ahead of SE Wisconsin. I’m a 38 year-old (sometimes going on 16, sometimes going on 60–aren’t we all) male, recently divorced (not by choice, but not *necessarily *sorry about it now either), who is growing in faith like nothing I ever thought possible. I’ve got two children, 10 & 8, that I am hopelessly devoted to (and two useless dogs that I’m not): my eight year-old scored in his basketball game yesterday and I think I embarrassed him, if not myself, in my, uh…enthusiam. I am waiting for my lovely and gracious ex to start the annulment process, that I am coming more and more to think might not be such a bad thing.

I have literally never been in any forums on the internet until this week–I don’t even know if there are proper rules or manners, etc. I was looking for friendly, or at least informative, voices (or I guess listening would be the correct way to put it), because I am somewhat of a loner by nature (meaning I don’t mind my own company) and the person I thought was my best friend turned out to be…not, I don’t really have any close friends and there’s a void where rational conversation and harmless fun used to be. I was actually looking at divorce/annulment topics, but thought Thread for single catholics!!! might be amusing. I kept picturing some old lady chatting with some college kid, or better yet, two people who already know each other finding out a little more that they wanted to. Now that I think of it, that’s not so funny–you’re really from Wisconsin…right?

By the way, how was your movie?

Wow, that is very impressive! I read a little bit of Plato one semester in Greek. When I took my Ecclesiastical Latin class, I enjoyed Tertulian, St. Jerome, and St. Augustine. As far as more recent theologians, Avery Cardinal Dulles has written many books, unfortunately, I am not very familiar with them, and have not read one yet. He passed away in December, but for a long time he was a in the theology department at my alma mater. I had the opportunity to briefly meet him and shake hands once. (my claim to fame lol).

I love Fulton Sheen! I watch him on youtube a lot. I should look into his books too. I love this excerpt that Michelle Arnold posted in the apologist forum:
