…and the person I thought was my best friend turned out to be…not, I don’t really have any close friends and there’s a void where rational conversation and harmless fun used to be.
BlackDog,

My heart aches for you. I, too, thought I was married to my best friend when he decided that marriage just wasn’t his thing. I had just returned to the Church, and prayer and community became a great comfort to me. I highly recommend reaching out and creating some “friend time.” OK, that’s a “chick expression” but hey, I’m a woman. What I mean is, go bowling with the guys. Go to a game of something. Have a poker night with pizza and belching.

One caution I have for you, not that you asked, but again, I am a woman after all :o Be careful not to fill that emptiness inside you with another relationship. Men and women both tend to try to rush into relationships before the ink is dry on the divorce decree. Being single is hard at first, especially when, as in my case, one was so used to being someone’s spouse. I never realized how much I identified as being __________'s wife until that role was taken away from me. I met a few men for coffee and shared a few phone calls and emails with others. But I’m grateful now that I didn’t find someone to get serious with right away. Two years since the divorce and annulment, I am so much more stable and ready to move forward. Again, not that you asked, but there you have it 😛

Catholic Answers Forums were the first place I ever took part in any online forums as well. It is indeed a great place to share ideas and play (check out the “clubhouse” for some serious goofinees!).

Welcome! and God bless you!

Plato! Argh! The kid loves to read! And she loves to learn…trouble is, I read Plato and Socrates way back in 1992. And was in a car accident while read ( not driving) , So I tell her it was too traumatic for me to talk about those too. she has to find some one else to share that knowlege with! Great thing about homeschooling, I dont have to know it all I just have to light the fire and show them where to find the info they want to know about! God does the rest!

The movie was cute! We watched Wall-E for the first time. I was impressed, for hollywood, a good message, get off your butt and clean up your act. And the romance between 2 robots was all “Hello Dolly”!

Thanks Gertie. I’m not going to get involved with anyone until I’m sure that I can morally do it–see my interesting annulment thread. If I had it my way, an annulment would be granted for sincere reasons, and I would meet someone and live happily ever after; but I would rather do it God’s way. In the mean time, I’m going to do what is right and do what God wants me to do.

You will never regret following God’s plan, rather than moving under your own ideas and opinions. I failed at being the “shining example,” and now serve as the “terrible warning” for ignoring God’s directions. But I can also now serve as the poster child for God’s grace in action! 👍

Keep the faith, and keep breathing. This life is very, very, very short compared with eternity – thanks be to God!

Hey mommybug, clear some space, I’ve got a message for you.

How dose everyone feel about
marrying only in the lord?

Dose that make you want to marry
only a catholic?

What if a man that was not a Catholic or even a christian showed romantic interest ?
I only date christians at this point…no sense in wasting time. My dad was a convert from being a southern Baptist and turned out to be quite a devout catholic. I don’t think being catholic is an absolute requirement in a partner but it does make things easier in the long run. I pretty much leave that part up to GOD though. 🤷 I think faith, values and communication are the most important elements of any relationship. 🤷

Cool well we have a few here that are close in age.

Sierra and rpp, it seems you are in
the same age group…the 40’s.

Also we have pureza and turbo stock who are EXACTLY the same age.

How do we all feel about distance?
Personaly I know long distance can be hard, but if things get serious one can always move.

So distance can be an issue, also pics…we should be ready at some point to show pics to someone you are interested in. Because its not good to talk to someone for a week, only to stop when you see a pic LOL
So may as well get pics and the distance thing discused early.

Also just be honest, don’t say your he man or wounder woman if your
not.
Distance is a hard call. I can’t really travel that far from STL so I wouldn’t be involved with someone more then a state away it wouldn’t be feasible since I have obligations that keep me where I am for the moment. I wouldn’t mind so much living in another city but family would be hard to leave as well. 🤷

I will only date a practicing Catholic. (I don’t really like dating to begin with either.) I don’t want to raise children one day with someone who doesn’t believe everything that I want to teach my children.

That is a good point, children would be in the middle if a husband and wife were in separate denominations.

This leads to many potential problems, the Catholic view of politics, family, what worship should look like…are different just to mention a few things. If a husband dose not approve of the rosary and the mother dose, we have a problem because the husband is head of the house just as Christ is head of the church… technicaly the children are obligated to obey the father until there adults.

Why would anyone want to experience things like that?

You don’t like dating?

Dating can’t be to bad, since men are encouraged to continue dating there wifes even after marriage.
Going out to eat…opening doors…
flowers and candy…poetry…etc…et

You could get used to that right? LOL

Lol. I meant, it’s the less pleasant aspects of dating that I don’t like.

I would think most men would do that anyway…at least if they want a happy, well contented wife…lol 👍

Yea but don’t you think its better when a guy dose things because he wants to. And not just to keep his girl from geting upset.

And spontaneous…not just birthdays and valentine day?

Awesome. Right now I’m watching a possible winter weather event. In fact I believe our local NWS is about to issue a WWA. Carolina mountains will probably get a WSW though. Anyhow, it’s been tough trying to predict the snow totals with the models lately. Currently we have front coming through, which will bring some cold air in with it. Highs tomorrow are expected to top our around 39°F. Should be mainly rain throughout the day changing to snow in the evening. I don’t think it will take long for 850mb temps to cool off. Should be 0°C around 5:00- 6:00P.M. Surface temps may be a little longer, but once the snow starts falling I think it won’t take long to cool, especially with the sun down. I’ve said all along this would be a wait and see event since we’re so close to freezing and the model are not in complete agreement of the moisture spread. Bottom line, NWS has us pronged at 1-3". Will you be affected by this system? Where are you located? BTW are you taking college classes on this?
How did the storm turn out? 🙂 No, I wasn’t affected by it. I’m not anywhere near the Carolinas. Haha. And yes, I’m taking college classes on it.

That’s a part of what I have found I dislike about dating. When a guy is all nice and does sweet things, and then stops once you’ve been together a while.

I am a female senior living with my small dog in Glendale, California.
