Like them? When I read science journals, it doesn’t matter who I like. Credentials do matter. But I’m there to check on new research, new devices and current progress. Otherwise, the people themselves are not personally known to me. What ‘they’ provide is a number of different perspectives. Here, aside from a handful of posters, only one side of the coin is given.

What I’m talking about is how you seem to have this pattern of getting dissatisfied with the Catholic Church–for reasons that have nothing to do with faith–and then trying something else out, then advertising it on here to seek validation. A Catholic forum, of course, is not going to tell you that your non-denominational or LCMS Church is correct, which is probably what you’re looking for on some level.

Why don’t you ask “What is the truth?” instead of “What aligns with me?”

Sure. Not everyone is Catholic, and not everyone believes Catholicism is true. But that doesn’t change the fact that there is still a truth, and it’s the same regardless of who believes it or what they believe about it.

I appreciate your concern, but why don’t you ever try to lead these other people to the Church, too?i know they’re not vascillating but their firm beliefs against the Church makes me think they’re far less likely to become Catholic than I am to change my mind about it.

Because Providence has ordained that you’re who’s in front of me today, and so perhaps it is that I am to try to help you. If you don’t want that, fine. But I act out of a sense of duty to God and love for souls. I see you struggling and I want to do what I can. It doesn’t have to be either-or. I can reach out to you, and I can reach out to lots of others. I’m pretty good about being able to do multiple things at once, you see 😉

He’s helping me as well. You’re not his sole concern.

Ok.

I’m Anglican. I’m considering becoming Catholic.
What’s your reason for wanting to leave the Anglican church?
Wrong end of the equation; it’s not so much that I’m trying to escape Anglicanism as it is that I have begun to think that the Catholic Church is where the truth lies. In particular, I think the Catholic positions on salvation, the nature of the sacraments, and which books constitute Scripture are much more coherent. Bound up in the arguments for those positions are arguments regarding authority that point towards the Catholic Church.

And, to be clear, I did not go seeking this. I heard an argument about sola scriptura’s being self-contradictory, and it hit me like a ton of bricks. So I started diving into Catholic apologetics, and that’s what I’m up to these days. Please pray for my wife’s patience.

I feel your pain. I log on to an astronomy forum now and then and the limited posts dedicated to a geocentric view is ridiculous. Why not discuss alternative views! Everyone there seems to just ‘follow the consensus’.

Ok, I will.

Hope, you came on a Catholic forum, and while is not completely populated by Catholics, it is a Catholic forum.

I’ve been lurking and all I’ve seen is watch this video watch it watch it watch it did you watch it why didn’t you watch it the least you can do is watch it now explain it to me because I can’t understand it no wait that’s not what the explanation I wanted to hear.

You like a different church and you want us to tell you it’s ok… to tell you it’s ok to leave the truth because you’re bored. (and if you don’t want people who call it the truth post elsewhere). Truthfully, and I’m tying to say this with all the charity I can muster, it comes off as terribly childish that a grown woman can’t be bored for 45 minutes in order to receive something as valuable as Christ in the Eucharist. He bled and died for you but you can’t be bored! You’re seeking validation from the wrong people.

And then you push people away who are concerned.

Again, thank you for your concern, I’ve been posting here for YEARS and need a little help from my online acquaintances. Not snide comments. Simply saying you’re trying to be charitable doesn’t mean you are. HTH.

So let’s go back to the original question. Why is it you need a little help from your online acquaintances? What’s at the heart of all of this? Please, I’ve asked you this question several times, and you’ve not yet answered. You’ve answered with things that are peripheral–the Church feels like a funeral parlor, etc. I’m not talking about your experience at Church or with any particular belief. I’m talking about what’s going on inside of you. Why do you feel this way?

This really isn’t necessary. I’ve heard worse. I’m just trying to have a conversation with her.
