Toilet paper shortage

The Husband told me that some places elsewhere in the world are restricting the purchase of diapers because people are buying them to use as masks. šŸ¤Ø Nevertheless, despite there not being any face masks available for love or money in the entire country for many weeks, no French supermarket I know of has put a limit on how many diapers one can buy.

I really think thatā€™s terrible! This pandemic has been an eye-opener at how self focused (selfish?) people can be.

I guess the face mask diaper-wearing people must be in my area, too šŸ˜‰ as they were definitely limited here.

The Family Dollar store in my neighborhood also has toilet paper, whereas the supermarket hasnā€™t had any for weeks. Who would have thought that life would be reduced to waiting anxiously for TP and feeling a sense of joyful achievement when the jumbo rolls appear on the shelf and can be purchased?!

We have grand twins, so it would be a disaster to restrict purchasing diapers. For our other grandchild, mommy and daddy both being home is a perfect time for potty training!

I was wondering if any moms have resorted to old school cloth diapers during the disposable diaper shortage. Of course, I suppose then youā€™d need bleach to clean the diapers, which has also been hard to get some places.

I really feel that there is not a shortage of toilet paperā€¦only that the hoarders are taking it abundantlyā€¦Yes, I am trying to find my ā€œbe not afraidā€ cap to wear and go to our local Walmart on a Tuesday at 6:00AM to get TP and other needed itemsā€¦

Thanks for sharing. I wouldā€™ve assumed they would be same size as ours but then our society tends to mega size everything. At least youā€™re ā€œsitting prettyā€ so to speak for the time being due to a creative solution on your part.

Look at the bright side. You have a great story to tell your grandkids when theyā€™re older!

The only thing I couldnā€™t get at the supermarket that I needed was canola oil
Quality oils were on my priority listā€¦ especially olive oils sourced from Mediterranean regions. A full pantry can only go so far without good fats!

My wife just got a good laugh from it.
Sheā€™s been in contact with a couple of businesses in China as she considers beginning selling some things on Amazon. She was shocked at the high prices they were wanting to charge. Not everything is cheap in China anymore!

A little humor I foundā€¦

ā€œran out of toilet paper and now using lettuce leavesā€¦today was just the tip of the
icebergā€¦tomorrow romaines to be seenā€ šŸ˜

I havenā€™t found any brand name tp available on Amazon. You canā€™t even preorder. They do have some commercial types which is probably one grade above sandpaperā€¦thatā€™s what they look like, anyway! šŸ˜‚

For all items in great demand, our stores are limiting one per purchase. I found three bottles of antibacterial hand soap and at checkout, the cashier told me I could only purchase one. I was fine with that but pointed out there wasnā€™t a sign saying so!

TP is often available at 7am opening time. There were probably 20 packages put out but they were the 12 packs of jumbo rollsā€¦one to a customer and gone in 15 minutes. I was so excited to get a package that I ran into the house shouting Toilet Paper, I got Toilet Paper and my family applauded! Five peopleā€¦four are adults and three bathrooms, I was getting nervous. Iā€™m good for about two weeks nowā€¦though if I chance upon another package, Iā€™m buying it!

Most items seem to be slowly returning. Pasta, jar sauces, cooking oil, flour, sugarā€¦are all available now though many name brands are still being shy! Is this our new normal? šŸ˜±

I think once the truckers manage to get the truck stops/rest stops they need back open, things will go more smoothly with the supply chain.

(Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.) Iā€™ve noticed thereā€™s no trouble getting wine shipped! šŸ·

Yes! And thatā€™s a point I hadnā€™t realizedā€¦truck stops, rest stops. Just didnā€™t think far enough on why supplies are so slow as Iā€™ve seen numerous articles showing warehouses fully stocked.
Pasta made sense as most comes from Italy and Iā€™ve not seen Italian branded ones back yetā€¦just American brands. Iā€™ve seen truckers on the highways but have no idea if theyā€™re coming from the next county or five states away!

And the poor grocery stockersā€¦they are working their little hearts out trying to get their shelves stocked with what the do get in. My daughter is a night stocker on leave right now. Sheā€™s the primary caregiver for her fiancĆ© whoā€™s a liver transplant and the doctors do not want her in contact with the general population. Her company has been awesome! She is on family medical leave but she feels so guilty staying home. Sheā€™s text them encouraging messages and making thank you cards to later give them for covering her!

Coloradoā€™s governor gave a televised speech last night. Told us Colorado is doing much better and heā€™s aiming for April 26th as the end of lockdown. Of course, caveats to a changing situation but it feels good to have a day to mark on the calendar!

Ooooo, what kind? I love Merlotā€¦is it a Merlot? Now I want a glass!

Itā€™s a Red Blend from Northstar winery in Washington state. I went their last year with my son and joined their wine club. They do have awesome merlot!

I will also need a haircut in the near future, but barbers and hair stylists are considered non-essential businesses here so they are closed indefinitely. Is that the case where you live, also?

In the meantime, I am slowly turning into ā€œShaggyā€ on Scooby Doo. I am reluctant to cut it myself out of fear of looking like Moe on The Three Stooges.
