I was fortunate to get my hair cut the day before our Governor closed the shops. I had it cut shorter than usual just in case.

Sounds like a good and forward-thinking move on your part.

A good move, and lucky more than forward looking. I didn’t realize shops would be closed so soon after.

I go out once a week and feel like I need to buy toilet paper when I find it now.

It is like finding gold.

Today there was no bar soap or liquid soap in the store. I long fo the day I can find another container of Wet Ones antibacterial wipes to carry in my car.

barbers and hair stylists are considered non-essential businesses here so they are closed indefinitely. Is that the case where you live, also?
Yes. Barber shops and hair styling salons have all been closed for three weeks and will remain shut until further notice.

Not having had a haircut since early January, I’ve discovered that my current hairstyle can grow out considerably and still look good. Of course, I’m a girl and my hair is usually shoulder length. Longer than this and I just pull it back into a ponytail. :+1:t3:

The short-haired Husband, however, hasn’t had a trim since mid-February. 😬 He was going to have his hair cut on March 21st; lockdown was declared in the evening on March 16th and went into effect at noon the following day. We have a set of hair clippers that he might use if the confinement decree is extended again on April 15th.

I wonder what guys in the military are doing to keep their hair within regulation?

I can relate to your husband’s situation because my hair is also generally short, but am glad to hear you are coping well.

I would imagine that the military will continue to provide buzz cuts, although they are probably having to modify their assembly line model to allow for more social distancing. Just a guess, as I do not currently have family in the military to ask.

There’s more roll there than toilet paper! 😁

I thought I got a bad deal the last time I bought toilet paper at a grocery store, about three weeks ago. In the photo below, the top pack is what I usually buy, before the panic buying started, and the bottom pack is the only type that the store was offering when I last went in to shop, which is substantially less TP for the money 😠.

Our Costco had no eggs.

Our Aldi had eggs, but limit 4 dozen.

Produce Junction had eggs at jacked up prices and limit 4 dozen ( but the produce and flowers are super-cheap, so it would balance out)

That’s just wrong. 😒 We can’t get the TP that we usually buy, but what we can get is packaged in the same quantity as before and sold at the same price.

Eggs are hard to find here also. We place an online pick-up order every week, and the last two weeks they’ve been out of stock. Buying them at the supermarket works 50% of the time, but often all they’ll have are organic eggs that cost twice as much as the conventional variety 😞

Thanks for the honesty. I have a feeling we got this way because many people had the same mentality and were allowed to purchase as much as they wanted before limits were instituted at many stores like exist now.

At some point there will probably be a glut of the stuff in stores as the crisis ends, but that will be preferable to today’s situation.

Thanks again for sharing.

Haha, one of those times when buying used to save some dollars doesnt make the better deal.

My husband used to argue with me when I would stock up on toilet paper and paper towels when they were on sale … I have a closet in my daughter’s old room that I would just throw it in … and I constantly bought when it was on sale … this was way before corona virus … now my husband isn’t complaining anymore.

It seems to be regional.
Our supermarkets are out of toilet paper.
But the convenience stores and dollar stores have it, although they limit the amount you can buy.
I was going to recommend that people try the smaller stores like these in their area.

In fact, I had also read an article that suggested doing this.

The article was saying that people tend to go to the large big box type of stores to buy the larger packages of items, but it was interesting how it explained things.

It said that both kinds of stores had the same type of inventory, but the larger stores were able to put all of theirs out all at once, while the smaller stores had to put theirs out when they had the space for it, so that meant that you might be able to find what you’re looking there more often, since the stores had to be re-stocked more often.

I’m not sure what’s going on exactly but the nearby local convenience shop closed last week until further notice, and now the next nearest shop, which is also the post office, is closing today. I think that just leaves the supermarkets for me.
