Has anyone heard when toilet paper, disinfectant wipes, and liquid soap will become available again? In my area they are practically non-existent in stores.

I can understand why certain medicines and medical equipment are in short supply, but not this other stuff.

We still have enough of all of these things to get by for the time being but are starting to get low. Seems like local grocery stores are out of stock and don’t know when more will arrive.

I don’t understand why staying at home would make people need to go to the bathroom more than usual. 😉

From what I’m hearing if you go early in the morning you have a better chance of finding these items. Although, I’ve seen plenty of liquid soap around. I even found some hand sanitizer the last time I was out.

@Convert3 is a very blessed person to find hand sanitier 😉

I found toliet paper by showing up early when the store opened. Also you can always order it on amazon. Majority of TP is made in America so there is no supply chain issues which made it more curious when people started hoarding it.

In my area, TP is in short supply but paper towels are reasonably accessible. Just dont flush them.

We couldn’t find TP even on Amazon. Will keep looking around. Maybe I’ll go early to the store one day as some have suggested.

I just read an article earlier today that said online vendors have sold out while some supplies are still available in stores. In my area, too, if you show up early (here groceries now open at 7am), you’re likely to find some.

The problem we’re experiencing isn’t with manufacturing: it’s with transportation. There’s a bottleneck that will right itself but who knows when that will be.

The difficulty is that hoarding is a self-propagating cycle. Because it is scarce, when it appears it is bought up even faster, so remains scarce. Rinse and repeat.

In a country under quarantine, neither its manufacture nor its shipment can be much improved. I’d expect the virus to begin to subside before the TP/alcohol supply shortages begin to balance out.

By the summer, TP will be in glut, as so many citizens will have a stockpile sufficient into 2021.

I found hand sanitizer last weekend. The grocery store stock lady was filling the shelves with liquid soap and body wash (We have plenty of soap here) and I asked her if she had any hand sanitizer. Turns out she had three bottles and they were available “by request only”. If you didn’t ask, you didn’t get. So I got a bottle. You might try asking just in case they have a couple of the item you want stashed away somewhere.

No hand sanitizer for weeks here (France). I’m not sure when local supplies ran out, as that happened while I was out of the country.

Liquid soap has always been available. Antibacterial liquid soap, however, is hard to come by. Stores receive regular shipments but not enough to satisfy demand. It sells out within a couple of hours.

Ditto for wipes. All kinds of wipes are available but the disinfectant variety can be hard to get a hold of.

TP is largely available again, after being out of stock everywhere for about ten days. We tend to keep a six-week supply on hand at all times, so at no point were we concerned.

We do not hoard. There is a difference between having a reserve of something and hoarding it. If the current situation lasts for several more weeks, we will run out of certain things.
The problem we’re experiencing isn’t with manufacturing: it’s with transportation.
That a big problem here also. The government said that supply lines will be left open and protected, but unfortunately their declarations about other things have made it extremely difficult for truck drivers to find food, open restrooms and shower facilities on the road. This and other issues are slowing everything down. 😐

Just got back from an adventure at the grocery store this morning. There was TP on the shelves, but not much and won’t last long. I didn’t get any since we have plenty from Costco just before this thing hit. I did get some Clorox wipes and Lysol disinfectant spray cleaner. Plenty of veggies, meat, milk, bread, eggs and other staples.
They are guiding everyone into one way aisle traffic and enforcing six feet separation in the cashier lines. Entry into the store is in one door with the other door being an exit. All the carts had already been wiped when I got there.
Hopefully we’re good now for at least a week.

It seems to be regional.
Our supermarkets are out of toilet paper.
But the convenience stores and dollar stores have it, although they limit the amount you can buy.

I went to the supermarket this morning. They’ve stopped all restrictions now, except for TP, hand sanitiser (none in stock in any case) and nappies (diapers). Pasta is still out of stock, too.

Our supermarket and Walmart does that blocking and enter thing too. Not sure what it accomplishes, but whatever. The only thing I couldn’t get at the supermarket that I needed was canola oil. There was no oil to be found! 😂 So I won’t be frying anything.

I didn’t even check for toilet paper, we still have some from Dollar general. I did notice that my cats brand of dry food was out, I will have to keep watching for that.

Honestly, I don’t use hand sanitizer. We don’t have any, I don’t go out except to the grocery store but not for weeks at a time. So I just use good old fashioned soap and water.

And lots more hand lotion than ever before. 😊

Yeah, vegetable oil was out of stock in my supermarket… forgot about that. And pretty much all hand washes, except the bar soaps, were out, too. Not seen any hand sanitiser since this coronavirus took off.

We had the entry and check out controls in place, as well.

I put my one bottle of hand sanitizer in the car so I can use it on my hands and the steering wheel when I get in and out. I also have a pack of adult wipes in there. They aren’t antibacterial but they work to wipe off the wheel, etc.

Every church I have visited during this business also has hand sanitizer out for everyone to use.

As soon as I arrive home I get the antibacterial spray out to clean down door handles, steering wheel etc. Probably no better than regular soap and water, but it’s makes for a quicker job.

We’re not allowed to visit any churches in the UK 😦 and we’re pretty much restricted in the types of journeys we’re allowed to make… and my diocese shut all the churches anyway.

My sister found toilet paper at Costco on Saturday, with only one large pack per customer allowed. No paper towels there, however. She said people in the store were yelling angrily at each other to keep their distance. Lots of tension at our stores now, it seems. I’m having groceries home-delivered, and I ordered a box of folded paper towels like you’d find in a public restroom from Amazon.

Purchasing limits on diapers??! I would hate to be the mother of an infant and have to deal with that. It’s not like parents can restrict their children’s bodily functions…

That’s what they said over the tannoy. I don’t think they mean that the packs will be broken down to hand out a set number 🙂 rather that they can have a pack, of say 20 or whatever. Yeah, times are tough… I guess if you have a baby, you have to get a bit creative, or go into the supermarket twice if you need more?
