You’re a perfect relativist. You reject judgement except your own. You’re absolutely certain that things are relative. !!
LOL! Okay then, answer me these questions since you think appearances are as absolute and objective as morality.

Why is the color black evil?
Why are frills a sign of innocence?
What is the connection between the color red and the devil?
Why is a circle more moral than a square?
Why should stars have no more than five points?
Why is a sharp chin less attractive than a fat nose?

And, just for the pure heck of it, I shall finish with:

Why is a raven like a writing desk? :whacky:

How creative and challenging!

A man here from CAF messaged me, criticizing me on my views of modesty (that it is cultural) and making some pretty rash judgements about me, asking if i dress the way I do bc i like the attention or if i do it to purposely incite lust. (and by “dressing the way I dress” he means the fact that I wear shorts on a hot day and bikinis to the beach).

Anyway, my husband, who has been following this thread with me through my account (as he does not have one), got on my account and messaged him back, saying this:
Hi, this is Debora’s husband.
What is wrong with you people? My wife is constantly up in arms about all the outrageous things being said on this forum. My wife has even been told by a CAF member that she’s going to Hell because she wears shorts and bikinis. Is this honestly how the good Catholics of the world conduct themselves today? How dare ANYONE suggest that they would know who will go to Hell! And the fact that people like you say these things, and make so many assumptions about people you’ve never met is both unchristian and immature. Honestly. So go take a hike, remove the plank from your eye, and worry about your own life. Debora and I sought out this forum for support; instead, we’ve really been turned off by many of the Catholics posting here. I went through Catholic schools my whole life, and never met anyone like the people we’ve run into here, including fellow students, teachers, and yes even priests.
As a side note, as a fellow male, I personally have no trouble with lust while walking down the beach every weekend and taking in all the bikini-clad women. There’s a huge difference between seeing a women, acknowledging she’s attractive, then moving on, and seeing a women, then lusting for her. If a man can’t distinguish between those two, or can’t choose the right one, then he is probably the one who needs to change something. Lust will always exist, regardless of attire. If the solution were as simple as making women hide themselves under several layers of clothing, then why would Jesus have bothered to mention the struggle with lust? That’s how all women dressed during his time. It really upsets me to think that so many men would solve their personal issues this way.
I think the church has yet to overcome the sexuality-is-taboo attitude of Vatican One. I mean honestly, why is it that whenever someone mentions something about sex on these forums, most responders always tell the OP they’re being sinful on some level? Sure, there are plenty of opportunities for sin in sexuality, but there are plenty of opportunities for sin in all aspects of life. It’s as if the Church automatically assigns sexuality a black spot, and shuns the topic in conversation. It’s a shame really, because the gift of sex is one of God’s greatest.
My husband is my hero : )

If we don’t help others struggle, we’re not living a generous life in Christ.
If you’re tired of dragging your initial response out of the gutter, I’m tired of dragging out my response right after it.

Again, you want charity?

You really wanna help people who struggle?

You wanna help the perverts?

Teach them a lesson in human dignity (with an iron rod if need be).

THAT is charity.

Charity isn’t always about sweetness and giving away free cakes.

Modesty of dress is ABSOLUTELY relative. : > Is that really what you want to go public with?
Yes, relative to culture Edward. And I have explained why/how in my other posts. Feel free to go back and take a look if you’ve missed it. Let me know if you have any questions.

Yes, I want to help the perverts with Jesus, like Jesus.

Would you have said to Jesus after he saved the adulterous woman from being stoned ’

"Jesus, Charity isn’t always about sweetness and giving away free cakes." ?

Is that what you’d tell our Lord?

Like I said before – I hope my girls find a man like yours.

I disagree with your husband’s assertion (" whenever someone mentions something about sex…").

I see a wonderful and increasing number of Catholics (and some Protestants) who have done the hard work and struggled through the JPII’s Theology of the Body (or at least summaries of it), and who actually “get it”. They understand that sex, properly understood and practiced is a gift from God…and is wonderful.

That’s more of a legal question. Exactly how does stoning a woman help her see the error of adultery?
"Jesus, Charity isn’t always about sweetness and giving away free cakes." ?

Is that what you’d tell our Lord?
Yes indeed because this is the same Lord who preached about hell, how it’s for people who sin, and how desecrating the House of God is gonna earn you a whole can of whoppa!

So you’d tell the Lord how to help and heal someone because you know better.

I believe Jesus also said —Let you who are without sin cast the first stone.

There has been a whole bunch of stone throwing by the “religious modesty fanatics”.

You don’t read your own writing. Go back to your rod statement.
Wow you really like nitpicking words and being blind to the whole picture aren’t you?

Look, the point is if you want to exercise charity towards perverts, you don’t make it easy for them. You correct them, chastise them, find ways to demonstrate just how shallow their views tendencies.

I mentioned an iron rod because such correction will always have the possibility of requiring strict discipline. Obviously though, you like to think such things as oppressive and without compassion.

Don’t worry you’re not alone. I know a lot of liberals who would agree with you. They’re all for pampering the scum of society after all.
So you’d tell the Lord how to help and heal someone because you know better.
How can I know better when it’s the Lord Himself who believes that way… or are you not comfortable with being presented a side of Christ that contradicts your Care Bears perception of charity?

I can see why. That was a great response from your husband.🙂

I absolutely reject your statement here. I have never in any direct or indirect way written or implied any such treatment of what you call perverts.

Put up your proof…intact statements…or just crawl away.

By the way, you’d like to cast all men who have ever looked too long as “perverts”.

Such coarse grain labeling is childish.

Using names like “scum” and “perverts” in such a sweeping and dismissive way is arrogant…and I think it’s starting to belie something else inside you…present or absent…but definitely hidden.

he was referring to the crazy posts where ppl ask things like:

“i had a sex dream, was this a sin?”
“i get aroused sometimes when i am with my girlfriend, even though we are not touching. is this a mortal sin?”
“is watching ballet a sin?”

…and sometimes get pretty scary answers (“yes, it is a sin” “go to confession” “break up with your gf” “ballet is perverted”). Those answers appear WAY more than they should.

And his point was that ppl here are overly obsessed about issues with sex specifically, and not paying attention to other things that are also important, such as pride and gluttony… etc etc

He’s absolutely right. I think many of these posts seem to be trollers or plants. They pop up like dandelions.

Same on his points on gluttony / pride / vanity, etc.

Lesee, you compare people who struggle with lusts to people have a suffered a car accident or have lost a loved one.

That should be enough for anyone to tell how much sympathy you show perverts: Too much.

I call a spade a spade. If you steal something because you’re greedy, what do you wanna be called, a missionary?

Likewise, if you can’t put a lid on your hormones and start lusting after random women, what do you wanna be called, a saint?

You know, I pity how much you continue to reduce yourself with these arguments. You’re looking for Politically Correct labels for bad people. That’s just sad.

So now anyone who struggles with lust is a pervert, and lusting after random women makes you an evil person?

Do you not realize that sexually explicit images and content (particularly of women) are ALL over the place, from ads, product covers, movie covers, songs, to conversation by other people, and the way people dress. Have you no sympathy for the massive scale onslaught on purity a Catholic man has to deal with in this modern time?
