Top papal aide says Vatican ‘worried’ about Trump’s refugee order

I wonder if the pope believes in the wall which encircles Vatican City? And how many refugees is Vatican City up to now?
This is the kind of rhetoric I used to hear from fundamentalists.
Lately I’m hearing it coming from Catholics.

haha, I deleted that comment because I plan another one with more substance, but my ‘worry’ didn’t consist of that.

I’m upset that news apparently comes out suggesting disapproval over Trump, but during the election, here we have a candidate (Clinton) who is rabidly pro-abortion among a host of other issues (Euthanasia, same sex marriage) that are gravely contrary to Church teaching and yet not a word, only a gaffe about how people who build walls are not Christian which was taken out of context by the main stream media and is not even in the Catechism.

See, it’s fine if the Vatican wishes to help refugees, but criticizing Trump over a temporary immigration ban from terrorist ridden and failed states until they can sort out how they want to do it in order to protect US citizens is not right. It’s the ‘wall’ gaffe again, but yet silence on the much more serious issues.

Are they going to champion Angela Merkel? is that their ideal? If not why not? If yes, then they have told me everything I need to know and like I said, I’m worried about the Vatican.

I hope this has helped

THIS, right here is what Catholics who did not jump on the Trump Love Machine are talking about.
Must be something wrong with the Vatican, not Trump.
Kinda scary.
Well, I’ll ask you, Is Angela Merkel your ideal? And platitudes condemning Trump over immigration, are just that, platitudes without any substance, put forth your ideal and then we can deal with that.

Also, where is the outcry over abortion, euthanasia and same sex marriage, unlike open borders and mass immigration, those things are actually in the catechism.

I do not think Trump is some kind of ‘Supreme Leader’ nor do I agree with everything he does or says. But there is a lot of unfair criticism and deceptive reporting.

Let me make this clear to the teen-age Trumpsters, I will defend our Holy Pope and his Bishops. I will not put up with disrespect or outright attacks because they do not line up with current Glorious Leader in the White House.
Catholic or Trumpolic.
I’ll stand with the guy in the white robe. 👍
Awesome, I’ll keep that in mind for future reference on other issues. Hope to see you in abortion, euthanasia and same sex marriage threads. 😉

Is your argument that the Vatican does not address abortion sufficiently?

Well, I don’t think it wrong that Trump has banned immigration from terrorist ridden and failed states for a short time until they can sort out how they want to do it. I think it’s a very pragmatic approach, and I hope they take in refugee’s and do a good job in vetting them, to make sure they have a fair idea that those who are being admitted into the Country are truly refugee’s and don’t have I’ll will toward the Country that is giving them refuge.
Matthew 7:6:
Profaning the Holy
6 “Do not give dogs what is holy; and do not throw your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under foot and turn to attack you.

Much of this is equally applicable down here (OK, I know we are a very tiny, insignificant place!!)
I oppose all the things you do, and support the identical things you do - public health care, for example, has served us pretty well since the 1930s (and I, personally, have nothing but gratitude for what I have received from it for 68 years)
We are certainly further to the left here than the US, even when, as now, we have a centrist right sort of government in office. The “father” of our social welfare system was a devout Catholic prime minister inspired by the Gospels and the Acts of the Apostles. Only Americans (some, anyway) would call it a “socialist” country. Secular, yes. But Pope Francis is very well liked and respected here even by non-religious people. He’s “our kind of man” in much of what he says, and for 99.9% of NZ Catholics in everything he says.

There never has been and I predict could never, ever, be a cult of personality about any politician here. It’s just not in our psyche. 2-3 have been particularly respected, but more in retrospect than at the time they were in office.

This might be a dumb question, but has anyone else ever wondered what the Vatican’s own news sources are? I admit I’ve often wondered where from and through whom news gets to the Pope. (Any Pope.)

Public health care has been a boondoogle. Nations that have universal health care are often forced into having some kind of a private market because government screws it up.

I think there’s too many people who are socially conservative but who just want a slice of left-wing cake for selfish reasons, like virtue-signaling on Facebook.

So are we. That’s why we want the mass flow of persons across international borders to be regulated.

That’s very good. I’m happy to read that. But you give Trump a hard time and what was your alternative? Clinton? (Would you prefer she won?) I think I made the right choice in backing Trump and Pence and I will pray for them and hope they do well. I know they are not perfect and there will be problems (Little worried about all the executive orders, I thought he would have to go through congress for certain things otherwise it would kinda defeat the purpose of congress), but like I’ve said before, it needs to be fair criticism, there is much unfair criticism, lots of exaggeration and deceptive reporting going around.

As for immigration, he is trying to protect you, unless you would rather live in Germany for a while or the Middle East, if one doesn’t correctly diagnose why they are fleeing in the first place (They are fleeing from someone), how can you be a refuge for what they are fleeing from?

I hope this has helped

Trump is a Catholic friendly President in such a long time. I hope he get to do what he wanted to do as pledged in his campaign promises. 👍

B]NATURAL LAW
urges that ways of migration” be opened to “needy people” fleeing war, unemployment or hunger in other countries. NATURAL LAW. And the “sovereignty of the State…cannot be exaggerated to the point that access to this land is denied to needy people from other nations”.

Understood, but the first duty of government is the protection of its citizens.
