What about the Dead Sea Scrolls? This are as original to the time of Jesus as possible

Could you provide links?
Nothing curious about it. They were burned because they were not authorized by the Church and contained errors. (see ref. “Wicked Bible,” “Murderer’s Bible,” etc.)
Many modern translations were revered (Douay Rheims). The first Bible printed on the Gutenberg press was a Catholic version in German.

Yes it is possible. Show me proof. Not true in many cases. That’s why they needed to be corrected.
Could you elaborate?
Links: call up- “Two Streams of Manuscripts”, also “God Wrote Only One Bible” on Google or most any other search engine will do. Then surf, surf, surf. Then run: " When Bishoprics and Papal rings were for sale".

There is a preponderance of evidence that when the Church at Jerusalem was scattered with the rest of the population in A.D. 70, that the gospel went to the uttermost parts. The Holy City was leveled, razed, burned to the ground–including the Temple. Surely the Word of God went with them. Copies showed up in the North of Italy, France and England; middle east and far east too; Africa, Germany. The Word does not return void. Did they have all the canon? No. They had whatever God provided including the most important part: The Holy Spirit–the One who came at Pentecost was still indwelling, leading in all Truth, His Church–He still does.

All the glory goes to God. We are all depraved and corrupted in everything we do. God said what He meant, meant what He said. Whether we believe it or not is irrelevant.

Peace,

James Least

I already know all that. What has this to do with the topic?

I agree. Again, what does this have to do with the topic?

We are washed clean and reborn in Baptism.

GERMANE TO: Trail of Blood is also the trail of the two scriptural streams. Interesting.

I thought you asked for documentation??? Are you interested in the rest of the story?

In the Acts scripture reference: what if the verb should be translated: having been washed away?? All scripture must harmonize. There are many scripture which say we are not saved by sacraments.

Only innocent blood washes sin away. Water, sprinkled or immersed, washes nothing–a little grime perhaps. Luther did not see this either. Baptism is a picture of death, burial and resurrection; not washing of sin. Immersion shows this; sprinkling does not. Dead and buried into the water; resurrection from the water–to walk in newness of life. A little sprinkle on the head does not seem to convey such. Baptismal regeneration is a man-made doctrine probably going back to the 2nd or 3rd century. It is part of salvation by works. We love to work for our salvation. See Eph.2: 8-10.

James Least

And, chronologically speaking, that would have been the Old Testament.

Thus, taking your position to its logical conclusion: “The Written Word [that] is the only rule of faith and practice…” is the Old Testament.

Wait – I see it – Sola Old Testament.👍
Are you sure? Why do you seem to gloss over some serious contradictions among the religious powers that be?

Where will all of this be in 100 years?

Are you sure? The man-made anchors will not hold.

are you trying to teach us Catholics what the Bible is really saying?

you better work for your Salvation. on the day of Judgement Jesus is going to say: "I was hungry and you gave me food. I was naked and you clothed me. I was sick and you visit me. I was in prison and you visit me… Now to others He said: I dont know you. these were the ones who did not do these things. where do you think you are going to be?
whether you like or not, you must work out your salvation in trembling.

Let the Holy Spirit do the teaching–after you open your mind. God’s children will not be judged at the white throne judgement, but rather the Bema Seat. Run that phrase through the www and surf, surf, surf.

I do many of these things you reference–not to earn salvation, nor to keep salvation but rather because I am washed in the blood of The Lamb, and have passed from death unto life. Jesus said, “It is finished”, the price has been paid; His sheep are redeemed. Why do we want to crucify Him every day?

I know of some Filipino fishermen who need $300 to buy a Nubian Milk Goat for milk for their starving children. Will you help? We already have $271.

Are you sure?
Yes - as sure as one can be based upon the historically accepted dates for the vairous books in the New Testament.
Why do you seem to gloss over some serious contradictions among the religious powers that be?
You are asking this in the present tense, so that’s the way I am answering your question. Thus, what do “…contradictions among the religious powers that be?” have to do with my original statement? Further, what are these supposed contradictions and who are these supposed powers that be?
Where will all of this be in 100 years?
Heaven I hope - with a most probable layover in purgatory.
Are you sure?
I’m as sure as anyone can be.
The man-made anchors will not hold.
I have no earthly idea what you mean by that statement. I’ve got to hand it to you James - you are a most impressive obfuscator. 🙂

what you know.

the HS is invisible because of that many try to use Him. you dont have the power to manipulate the HS. there is no forgiveness for sins against the HS. remember that.
but you people are constant use the HS to justify your disobedience to the Church. it is a grave sin against the Spirit of God. so please stop blaspheming against the Spirit.

you only thinking you know what you are talking about but we know you say things that is so off. we see so much ignorance in your part when you try to enterpret the Word. we see pride. yes, pride. you think you know but you dont.

humble yourself and admit you dont understand the Word and need help.

the Church is here to help us understand the Will of God. to help us to know Him. there is a reason why Jesus said: you are Peter and upon this Rock i will build my Church. He never said i will send each one of you a Book you all can understand when you read. the Church. do you know what is the Church? it is a blasphemy against God to disrespect His Church as if this Church doesnt exist.

you are not the Church. this is very simple to understand. Scriptures alone is no substitute to the Church. nowhere in the Bible says that. now we have dissagreements where should we go to settle the dissagreements, do you know?

HI James,

I have been reflecting on your remarks on how you experience Christ every day…in the spiritual sense of praying always, we Catholics are no different and experience the same.

Other posters are sharing with you that our faith also incorporates not just our personal, individual experience…that reflects the faith in Scriptures, but that we are also shepherded by Christ’s Church…

All the glory goes to God. We are all depraved and corrupted in everything we do.
Baptism washes the depravity away.

Does it matter? Is it saying something different? Are you are now a better Scripture Scholar than the Apostles and the Early Church Fathers?

Well that’s just plain unScriptural![BIBLEDRB]john 3:3-5[/BIBLEDRB]thumbsup: You are a better Scripture Scholar than Luther as well. 👍

:thumbsup:He said to be baptized. He told his Disciples to go out to all nations and Baptize them. [BIBLEDRB]matthew 28:19[/BIBLEDRB]:

hopefully, James will be able to see the false spirit deceiving him. you showed him what he says and then showed him what God said. very good. hopefully he believes what God says and not what himself says. hopefully, he will believe that God speaks the Truth. James doesnt.

Yes. I believe God says what He means. There is no need to bend inconvenient Truths to our misunderstanding .:bowdown:

Getting back on track: The way I see it, if the Baptists don’t accept the “trail of blood,” or whatever you want to call it, they are necessarily admitting that they are simply a man-made sect manufactured by Smyth, Helwys, and Wightman (who was, interestingly, burned at the stake by the same King who commissioned their beloved King James Bible) in early 17th Century England.

Are the “Trail of Blood”/Landmark Baptists grasping at straws to try and come up with some sort of theory of apostolic succession? Yes. Does it make a whole lot of sense when brought under historical scrutiny? No. But there needs to be some explanation for them to square themselves with “the gates of Hell not prevailing against” the Church. The other alternative would be to do like the Mormons: Claim a “great apostacy,” and say that everyone was wrong until they came along, but they don’t seem to want to go that route.

Whence cometh this blog? Sorry, for you–I see the www as a tremendous library of the world. All the bibles are available in dozens of languages. What an aid to study this is!!

More rattling: There is scripture which speaks of The Judgement Seat(Bema) of Christ. This is not the White throne judgement. There are two judgements and two deaths. God’s children are not judged with the lost. His children only die once–physical death. The lost die twice: once physically, the second when they go to Hell forever-separated from God.

Religious powers that be: Catholicism East and West do not agree on a very basic point: authority. The East does not recognize the papacy as having authority over them. This schism is unrepaired for 1000 years so far. This raises a couple of obvious questions: Which one is right? Both cannot be right. Could both be wrong?

This does not make for good evangelism folks.

I think I may have just excommunicated myself. I do not exist anyway–the marriage from whence I came was annulled, by the Vatican–6 mos. after I was born. I know my name is written in the Lamb’s book of life–that is all that really matters.

Peace,

James Least.

HI James,

I went to a parochial school that had abusive nuns…I met one of them recently from the same community and she was telling us they were taught not to even look at each other…some sort of penance…

Vatican II did away with some very unhealthy devotions and practices…I encountered some people so many years back, not Tridentines…but so judgmental…a priest told me that was Phariseeism…my daughter went there with her friend…they brought another class mate…when she asked where the bathroom was during Mass, some lady from behind slapped her on the head.

These kids that come out of these sects are so damaged, they can never trust the Holy Spirit working through the Church again.

You seem to be reflecting the minority viewpoint. I am a blaspheming heretic according to most of the posts so far. I did not crash this foruum–I thought I had an invitation to express my views. In all fairness, I was allowed a lot of leeway before getting snipped.

I was allowed to plant a lot of seed. Let us see what breaks the ground. The Word does not return void.

Peace,

James Least
