I have to sleep.
Goodnight.
Goodnight.
Uh-oh, somebody is having a tantrum …Using the phrase “homosexual lifestyle” is no different than saying “f****t,” and it should be banned from these forums. It is a code word that has been used for decades to refer to gay people as drug abusers and sex fanatics. Seriously, where on Earth did the concept of charity go amongst hardcore conservative Christians? I don’t talk about the “heterosexual lifestyle” of abortions, abortions everywhere, not to mention the rampant contraception usage, despite that actually being more accurate and exclusive to heterosexuals than the underlying meaning of “homosexual lifestyle.”
Ugh, it’s stuff like this that makes me wonder why the hell I’m Catholic. There’s no sense of charity here whatsoever. Newsflash: being polite to someone doesn’t mean you’re telling them to have sex or approving them having sex. And encouraging people to be polite is not the same thing as trying to “normalize homosexual behavior.”

Will you please stop the drama and listen to the other side, SMG? Drug abuse and sex addiction apply to both heterosexual and homosexual people, so why would you and your friends think said behaviors come to mind with the so called code “homosexual lifestyle”. That is paranoia.
As explained, when someone uses the phrase, what comes to mind are same sex behavior and its legitimization and wish of practitioners for acceptance by society. Sure, many, not just conservative Catholics, think that same sex behavior is not good, but “homosexual lifestyle” is hardly along the lines of pejoratives like “f****t.” As you can read from posts by others in this forum, I am not the only one who thinks this way. Perhaps you need to tell your LGBT friends to stop being super sensitive. What do you want, to “fix” 95% of society to fit your worldview, be the forum word Nazi on behalf of LGBTs? And if you fail, you will de-convert from Catholicism?
In previous threads, you have defended gay pride parades and festivals, which actually offend many heterosexuals and traditional families, because of exhibitions that cross the line of decency in public. But it falls under freedom of speech.
You can connect abortion to the “heterosexual lifestyle” if you like but I doubt heterosexuals would even notice. I don’t know anybody who would be offended, not me nor any in my social circle. But dictating disuse of an objective phrase is ridiculous. Get over it.

…which includes lots of studies with horrible methodology, a complete overanalysis of many more, a reliance on studies by right-wing conservatives with horrible methodology, etc. etc., aka modus operandi for the conservative movement (as is done with transgender people [e.g. Paul McHugh] and gay parents [e.g. Mark Regnerus]).
This is one of a humongous number of references of “lifestyle” to “insert horrible pejorative here [drug user, sex addict, violent partner, molester, etc.]” It is an onus on Catholics to avoid such pejoratives, and so yes, it should be banned from Catholic Answers to say it, as it is equivalent to “f****t” or “d**e.”
Calling it a “tantrum” does not change its inherent offensiveness; it only reveals your ideology.
No. Open another thread if you like and I’ll follow you there. Enough of this phrase to which you object.Read the ridiculousness found here:

I think I understand how you feel about the use of the phrase. The reasoning, as I see it, is that people who say “homosexual lifestyle” are, either intentionally or inadvertently, targeting the sexual differences of gay people. The term “heterosexual lifestyle” is not used because straight people do not define their lives as consisting only of sexual relationships. But that is precisely the way it appears they are defining the lives of gay people. Ironically, many people who use the phrase, also maintain that the identity of gay people should NOT be defined only in terms of sex, that they are so much more than a sexual being. I believe that for most straight people who use the phrase, it is a matter of a lack of awareness rather than a lack of compassion. In fact, many, I would say, are using it as a euphemism so as not to offend, but do not realize they do offend by unwittingly denying all the other attributes and behaviors of gay people apart from their sexual behavior and by grouping all gay people together as if they are all essentially the same rather than INDIVIDUALS who have different personalities, different interests, different strengths and weaknesses. This is exactly what we do when we stereotype people based on religion, ethnicity, age, and gender, and it is usually the other group that we stereotype rather than our own, in part because we are not as familiar with other groups compared to our own.Read the ridiculousness found here:

Really sad that after all these discussions you just don’t get it. I will pray for you.…in the meantime, I demand an APOLOGY from all those folks who commit or threaten to commit suicide causing the rest of the community stress and trauma because of THEIR gutless and psychotic attention-deficit disorder - ME, ME, ME, it’s all about me.
"…I don’t care if it hurts my parents to ‘identify’ me in the morgue. I don’t care if it causes PTSD for paramedics who discover my body. I don’t care if my brothers and sisters grieve for decades about my death. I don’t care that other humans - with problems 100 x worse than my 1st World problem LGBTQ sexual idiosyncrasies - have real LIFE & DEATH struggles.
I want an apology from the subject of the Op.

I’m sorry that I was so mentally screwed up in Iraq that I placed my sidearm against my head and save for the grace of God would have pulled the trigger. I’m sorry that mental state at the time was so far gone that all I was concerned about was me and the pain I was going through. I’m sorry that my nightly nightmares that woke me up either crying or having pissed myself or both, my inability to stay focused on anything other than the crippling sense of doom and worthlessness I had, and the ever present sense of rage that I did my best to control led me to such a state. But most of all, I’m sorry that my own personal Hell somehow caused you some sort of harm. I hope you can forgive me, because your forgiveness is somehow more important than the reborn shame and guilt I still feel over my attempted suicide. Thank God we have individuals so caring as yourself that we who have attempted suicide or suffer depression can have constant reminders of the Hell that we endure within our own minds.…in the meantime, I demand an APOLOGY from all those folks who commit or threaten to commit suicide causing the rest of the community stress and trauma because of THEIR gutless and psychotic attention-deficit disorder - ME, ME, ME, it’s all about me.

Would you say then that all or most suicides are selfish and designed to punish those loved ones who remain alive to grieve. I doubt it. So why do you say that about this transgender person? Could it be this teen was in such anguish that she was not thinking clearly about the effect she would have on her parents by her suicide? Her own words say as much. Your statement sounds as if you are blaming her for punishing her parents and as if that is the main reason why she committed suicide. People commit suicide because they are tormented, not to even a score.No. Open another thread if you like and I’ll follow you there. Enough of this phrase to which you object.
This thread is about the unfortunate suicide of the 17 y.o. transgender to punish the parents who did not agree with transitioning of their son.
It truly boggles the mind that people insist on referring to Joshua as :her or she" as if these feminine pronouns would actually change something immutable.Would you say then that all or most suicides are selfish and designed to punish those loved ones who remain alive to grieve. I seriously doubt he was thinking about that. From my own personal experience of feeling suicidal all i wanted to do was escape. I never gave as much thought to how much impact it would have on others. The possibility of him doing it with that much malice is low.…in the meantime, I demand an APOLOGY from all those folks who commit or threaten to commit suicide causing the rest of the community stress and trauma because of THEIR gutless and psychotic attention-deficit disorder - ME, ME, ME, it’s all about me.
