I don’t think you understand; I’m saying that the poster to whom I responded considers Trayvon Martin to be a wanna-be gangster because he is black.

Anyone can be a “wanna-be” gangster; there is no evidence that Trayvon was one other than that he was a black kid in a hoodie. Had Trayvon been a white kid in a hoodie, I think the poster to whom I responded would have thought “athlete”.
This is so dumb already. I can’t stand stereotypes and/or racism. Talk about going in circles.

I don’t understand it at all. But, I don’t think it is really to honor anyone, that is just what is said to try to excuse the behavior. I think it is revenge, pure and simple. Our “side” got hit, so we hit “your” side back. Not exactly the way toward peaceful resolution, eh?

Not to be too cynical, but the history of the world pretty much says “yes”. Overcoming that is the struggle of all times and nations.

trayvon was a young 17 year old teen at a vulnerable age for a black male. i don’t see anything wrong with him going to the store to buy some candy and soda. i don’t see anything wrong with him wearing a hoodie, especially, since it was supposedly raining.
i don’t have any evidence that he was a “wanna be gansta” either. i didn’t grow up immersed in black culture, but i did live in a community that was heavily dominated by african americans and i can understand the pressure these young teens are under wanting to impress their friends. he was in a new neighborhood and probably lonely and just wanted to get out of the house and go to the local convenience store. in the neighborhood i used to live in, even walking to the local convenience store during the day could turn out to be dangerous. at night, i would have never thought of going out alone to walk. i have no idea what type of neighborhood this was. perhaps it appeared safe to trayvon. it is a shame that because of the criminals in our society we have to be afraid to go out at night or be afraid of those wandering through our neighborhoods after dark.

No I don’t think you understand. The poster never stated that, YOU had to insert those words into his post.

It could be that he considered Trayvon Martin a wannabe gangster because he was acting like one, like many teenage punks do these days. Regardless of race.

Zimmerman shows signs of an attack, Trayvon was seen attacking him. Zimmerman has a right to defend himself.’
Trayvon followd Zimmerman back to his truck and started mouthing off and threw a punch.
That is enough to get you shot.
And what has the black community done in responce? Well nothing really. Nothing constructive.
Called Al and Jessie and got a posse up from the New Black Panthers.
Yea, thats justice.

Unfortunately, you are correct. And, no, I do not want to take it there. But, it appears others are taking us there no matter what I would prefer. Earlier in the thread, I indicated that I found the New Black Panthers inciting violence as worrisome and another poster thought it is not worrisome unless one wants to feel it is worrisome. If one wants to view it as a simple matter of perception rather than seeing it as actual reality, I suppose that would work. But, the reality of violent reactions does not change just because one refuses to acknowledge that reality.

I have been reading whatever I can find because I seek the truth. If you haven’t noticed, truth in this case has been a bit tough to come by because the media has been less than honest. You may have also noticed that several sources have, in fact, reported that the New Black Panthers have offered a bounty for Zimmerman. You can’t argue that fact even if you don’t like the sources of information.

Actually sweetheart I am on several boards and collect my news from all sorts of places. This just happened to be the first that came up when I googled the story from recollection. I apologize I didn’t scan the site for anything other than the story.

Idk what your ‘why’ is supposed to imply. Again, are we assuming the worst about people? That’s the real ‘why’ that needs to be asked…

What story. If true then the suspects are making malignant and opportunistic use of a tragedy to fulfil their violent inclinations.
