I don’t care if that is right or wrong, that is simply the way it is.
Well thankfully, there are millions of people who do care. There’s nothing some of us love more, than challenging “the way it is”, especially when that way is wrong. A person’s rights are enshrined in the Constitution, and are not defined by “the way it is”.

People who cling to this culture of bowing to prevailing practice, whether “right or wrong” and worse yet, those who insist on subservience to it, will find themselves outvoted and outnumbered. What is “right” is exactly what “we the people” insist on.

I have an amazing idea:

How about we all let the DA do her job and stop creating a racist race story out of the blue

After all. smart people know what is going on here: Obama has failed on the economy, failed on jobs, failed on Iran, and his supporters want to fire up the black vote with this racist farce. Thats what this is all about

Simple: why did you arrest, detain or initiate a confrontation with this person? If you can’t give a specific reason based on a unique attribute or combination of attributes e.g. a tall, elderly black man in a green and white t-shirt, a shirtless, young blonde man with the tattoo of a ship on his upper arm…etc, then you have profiled. No more stopping of random young men only because a man of their skin color committed a crime in the vicinity.

It could be enforced by the men who have been detained or stopped, filing charges when they are so targeted.
So it’s OK to profile on skin color if you know the shirt color?🤷

Your proposed law could never be enforced properly.

Have you noticed that YOU continue to revive the “racist” talk?
How about you control yourself - really soon?

No, it’s okay to look for people who fit a particular description. Not sure why it wouldn’t work: it seems to work for non-“young black males” everyday of their lives…🤷 Like I said, you detain/confront/arrest somebody (from a law enforcement perspective), you’d better have more than skin color and age group/sex or you would be liable to be charged with racial profiling.

Hi, SwizzleStick,

I, too, have had trouble finding what I would consider national/objective sources of information … and it really has been difficult. Further complicating the matter was the intentional mischief that an NBC producer decided to try with editing a tape that added a negative slant to Zimmerman’s conversation to the 9-1-1 operator. Here is a USA Today link to the story: usatoday.com/news/nation/story/2012-04-07/nbc-zimmerman-call/54098132/1

This case is very complex and any attempt to channel it out along a pre-determined stream (e.g., racism, vigilianteism, gansta, etc) simply will lead nowhere near where the truth is. Ultimately, things have only gotten more complicated with the so-called ‘New Black Panthers’ putting a $10,000 bounty on Zimmerman’s head and now his lawyers are dropping out because they can not get in touch with him.

In my judgment, the Florida Special Prosecutor is acting in a proper manner and while she is not going to be rushed, I would hope that she arrives at a decision before the end of the week to charge him or not. Now, there are other issues that have developed as a result of this unfortunate event - racism is being played out both ways by SOME of the participants for both sides. Yes, racist whites and racist blacks all encumbering the criminal justice system. Here we have US Attorney General Holder receiving public complaints about the inflammatory statements and actions of the ‘New Black Pathers’. His job is to enforce the law in a color-blind manner. Why he has not publicly acted against this group for the offered ‘bounty’ is beyond me. But, he is certainly entitled to the benefit of the doubt as the Justice Dept gathers evidence. I would hope that he, too, would act before the end of the week - to at least stop those inciting a riot and truly threatening the safety of all citizens.

God bless
Hi tqualey:wave:

Good post with very good points. Thank you for your insights. This case has become complicated by a lot of things and I do wonder if justice will prevail. I hope so. But, it sure has been, um, interesting and some effects may be long-lasting and far-reaching for our nation. I hope we can get past the negatives and the damage can be contained and reversed. We need to pray.

May God bless you too!

In this particular situation, there was no profiling done by any officers of the law. The reasons Zimmerman found Martin suspicious are irrelevant. He was a private citizen reporting someone he thought was acting/looked suspicious in his neighborhood. It is what happened afterward that is relevant.

Let me tell you something: If I see someone dressed like a slug in front of my house I am going out to handle him and I don’t care what color he is. If some hoodlum is dressed like a hoodlum and he is in front of my house, he’s got something coming. And if I happen to be legally carrying a gun, and the hood attacks me, he’s getting shot. And if Al harpton does not like that then he can go rot in Hades

There is no law preventing racial profiling of “non- young black males”🤷

So will this law end all racial profiling?

Will my car insurance go down even with an 18 year-old white male in my home?

Will colleges end their racial profiling?

Are municipalites going to end their ‘race quotas’ and just hire the most qualified?

Dear Catholic GOPer,

How does it work? If someone cries “Thief, thief!” while snatching grandma’s handbag, grandma has no right to claim that she was robbed?

Just trying to figure out your mindset…

Hey, if you don’t like my posts, don’t read them
The whole story is racist, so how can I avoid commenting on the obvious

Did you read my post? Somewhere in there, I indicated the “law enforcement” perspective. That other stuff you mention would be up to the people involved in running or supporting the respective entities.

I am trying to figure out your tortured analogy.

“Dressed like a slug” is subjective to your biases.

This is a Catholic website.
You seem to be so angry about this subject -
as in WAY over the top. Please calm down.

Just keep posting, my friend. You are so helping show who you are…

OK, I got it. Some racial profiling is OK when it doesn’t affect you but when it may then it’s bad.

But that doesn’t negate the fact that people formed opinions that she was crazy based on her actions regardless if she was crazy or not. How you project yourself, effects how others see you.
What “actions” did Trayvon project, that we know of. And no, that does not include looking "like he’s on drugs’ as that is obviously not an action.

If this man started beating you, and you believed your life in danger, I would not fault you for shooting him.
If a man approached you with a gun after following you for several blocks, at night, and started accosting you, I would not fault you for defending yourself.

You know exactly what I am saying, you are arguing for the sake of argument. That or you are very naive or that you live in an ideal world of your own construction.
Yes, I know exactly what you are saying, and I think that you are very wrong for saying it.
