Actually, a 17 year old can enlist in the military with parental consent. So much for being a “boy” and a “child”.

Plus, it is looking like Martin may have ties to the gang that was burglarizing homes in the neighborhood and there may be evidence that he had stolen property in his possession during one of his school suspensions.

From what I’ve been reading, and at this point nobody knows the truth but the police who are trying to sort everything out, Trayvon was nothing like the poor innocent some people having been trying to make him out to be.
 
Please note that a Grand Jury is not a court trial. If they see probably cause, then at least there is a case for the prosecution. It doesn’t mean that the prosecution will win it in a court of law though. It is only the first step. This may take awhile.

This Martin kid had almost one and a half minute (from 2’34" to 4’01") to get away and enter his father’s apartment if he was truly scared and/or had a peaceful purpose. But, after Z lost sight of him and stayed on the phone an extra minute-and-a-half, M came back to confront Z - at least according to Z’s account.

If Z’s account is true, Martin was looking for some sort of confrontation at this point.

Was Zimmerman still following Martin @ 2:34?

Side note: Zimmerman’s account - while necessary, hardly seems like something we ought to be taking for granted in, you know, his potential murder trial.
 
Maybe you would have preferred to see Zimmerman dead from a skull fracture? Would that have made things okay with you?

Still, he lived and died as a child.
No one can make that fact go away. It’s a fact.
 
Zimmerman was the instigator in this story.

Police told him not to follow Martin. He continued to do so.

He was armed. Martin was not.

Martin had every right to defend himself, if he even did go after Zimmerman.

To all who say that Martin had previous transgressions with the law (which is highly debatable), can you not understand that such transgressions are IRRELEVANT to this story because Zimmerman had no prior knowledge of Trayvon and Trayvon was not doing anything wrong when he was murdered?

And anyone who dares to say that Trayvon likely would have done something wrong later in life is making a purely racist statement. Jesus wold not condone such a statement. I am happier every day that I longer follow an organized religion, but it would be nice to have a forum dedicated to good morals in this world.

I am absolutely sickened by the racist replies in this thread. If anyone knows of an actual religious forum, please point me in the right direction. Maybe just make another site and call it ConservativeAnswers and let people who are interested in faith and morals have their own place?

Seriously, what is the deal here? I’m honestly baffled. I’m going to head out for good after this thread, I think. I think I’m just completely wrong about the nature of this forum. If someone who agrees with me wants to send me a PM to try to explain why the forum is reacting this way, please do. I’m at a loss. This isn’t the subforum of a truck message board. It’s a religious forum. I expected the opposite. Racial profiling? Shameful.

I would have preferred for the instigator of this mess to have been killed, rather than the innocent child, yes. Of course, I’d rather that no one would have been hurt, which would have been the case if Z had never left the comfort of his armed SUV.

Children can also be declared emacipated,
that is, independent monors, by the court system.

“Nobody knows the truth but the police” is one of the most laughable statements I have heard so far. You’re not familiar with police corruption? Uhh…it was pointed out numerous times (and cited) that this police force was guilty of previous acts of racism. Let’s not forget that one officer “corrected” a witness about who she had seen and heard screaming. You can check the Orlando Sentinel for that evidence. I’m not linking it again.

Also, once again, it doesn’t matter whether or not Trayvon had prior legal transgressions because Zimmerman did not know him at the time. Trayvon was walking on a public street with iced tea and Skittles. He was doing nothing wrong at the time. Zimmerman is not officially registered on any neighborhood watch list. Also, who is reporting about Trayvon’s track record? There are many sources that say that he was never in legal trouble. His teachers described him as “an A and B student who majored in cheerfulness.”

I want Zimmerman locked up immediately (since I view the death penalty as barbaric) and this entire police force fired for incompetence and racism.
 
This case must have dramatically changed and new evidence brought to bear since last I tuned in. So now Zimmerman is the victim and Martin the perpetrator of a crime?
