Trump’s Support Drops in Military Communities

Things sure changed in 1964.
Oh, you mean when the Civil Rights movement would have died had it not been for overwhelming Republican support in the House and Senate? Because the Dems would have defeated the bill with their own racists. And of course, LBJ with the quote of the century:
“These Negroes, they’re getting pretty uppity these days and that’s a problem for us since they’ve got something now they never had before, the political pull to back up their uppityness. Now we’ve got to do something about this, we’ve got to give them a little something, just enough to quiet them down, not enough to make a difference… I’ll have them n****** voting Democratic for the next two hundred years”.
The only thing that changed in the 1960s was the marketing of the message; deep down, the Democrats are still the same racists they’ve always been. If you doubt that, ask yourself why Robert Byrd served in the Senate for as long as he did without ever being condemned by his own party for his Klan history.

Wow! Watching MSNBC! Good for you. You may have noticed that the host at 9:00 is Stephanie Ruhl. Not a he.
Ummm, I’m the one who posted about the MSNBC hostess. Obama’s host Trudeau did basically the same thing.

And Republicans have not been racist? Racism is not limited by either political party or geographical region.

After the U.S. Civil War, the Democrats started up the KKK.
I think what you mean here is that the KKK was started by members of the Democratic Party. The Party itself didn’t start the KKK.

Are the KKK members of today more likely to be Democrat or some other political affiliation? Are KKK members of today more likely to support Trump or Hillary (i.e. how did they vote)?

Republicans fought to end slavery. The first black Speaker of the House (pro tem) was a Republican congressman. Republicans pushed hard to end Jim Crow. Republicans pushed the Civil Rights Legislation into law.

More importantly, Republicans don’t make everything in the world about race. Democrats do that, because there is notihing to them beyond skin-deep superficiality.

This is a silly peeing match. Both parties have their racists and when you look at the numbers they aren’t all that far off from each other. I will say Democrats and liberals who are racist keep it hidden more or don’t see themselves as racist (think of those that don’t want mass deportations because they’ll lose their maid). Many are guilty of racism of low expectations.

Look at the charts. Yes Republicans are “more” racist but it’s not by much and these types of polls aren’t going to be 100% accurate due to the social stigma attached to admitting you are racist.

Are White Republicans More Racist Than White Democrats?

That said, I think there are far too many white nationalists in Trumps circle.

So? That’s a pretty lame defense of Trump. “My man beat out a supporter of mass baby murder”. When you set the bar that low… why sure. If you admit Trump is a dangerous, incompetent joke of a president, but still better than supporters of baby genocide, then we are on the same page.
I’m pretty sure this isn’t even the first time in the last 24 hours that I’ve reiterated that criticism of Trump does not equate support of Obama or Clinton. “Lord, I know I beat my wife, but my neighbor killed his! Look how much better I am.” That’s the default position of Trump supporters when his more awkward flaws are brought to light. 🤷
But that’s important. It’s important that Trump isn’t as bad as Hillary. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have won the election.

Trump isn’t perfect and he sure isn’t as bad as you’ve imagined. I think we know both of those things. He is far better than having Hillary.

The idea that comes up over and over again here can be framed as a syllogism:
  1. The 2016 election polls were wrong
  2. The assessment of support in military communities is based on a poll
  3. Therefore the assessment is wrong.
The logic is invalid to begin with. Moreover, as you have indicated, the first premise is false.
I hate to be going this far back but you do what you do.

The general assertion is that polling is not nearly as predicting as it once was. It isn’t in elections and probably isn’t in other large polls.

It seemed some 20+ years ago that polling was very close. The science seems to be far behind the times.

Exactly. You get my point. And remember Sarah Palin? Granted she wasn’t president,
just running as VP and she received the same treatment.
Sarah Palin was certainly no prize but that’s all McCain’s fault. The democrats did and continue to show a basic lack of decency when they speak of her. Well, her and several others.

Oh … that is an interesting evolution; typically on the forum, whenever poll come out that are unflattering to Trump, we get a simple broadside against polls “proven” by the election outcome. You make a more interesting claim. For which, of course, you have not a scintilla of proof.

BTW, HRC electoral college landslide? Weeks out there may have been projections along those lines, with EC votes approaching 400, but the polls narrorwed considerably in the last ten days; who was predicting a this landslide on election day?

Well first let me say that I am happy that you were not reduced to head scratching.
But your logic is still invalid, as i am sure that you see; and the first premise as you amended it remains unsubstantiated.
I’ve already linked this story once in this thread. abcnews.go.com/Politics/hillary-clinton-leads-donald-trump-abc-news-electoral/story?id=39672451

Further, campaigns conduct polls and look at polls that go state by state. If those polls weren’t looking in Hillary’s and the democrats’ favor, why were they disappointed? You would think those at MSNBC were as well informed as anyone, yet it looked like she was going to throw up. I think her using words like “unthinkable”.

Yes. She was another one. Even Gerald Ford. Remember how they depicted him
tripping and falling? The democrats have been mean spirited bullies for decades.
I wonder what they said about Eisenhower? Do their accusations of incompetent idiots
go back that far?
Poor old Jerry Ford had a couple of ugly falls and he just had to take his lumps on that.

You don’t get to define our premises for us, then argue that we’re ‘evolving’ them when we correct you.

Good question. This is from election day.

Only to those who refuse to pay attention to underlying polling data.
I would never accuse dvdjs as not paying attention. Anytime he gets something wrong, I think he knows the correct answer. He will like many democrats defend the indefensible until his last breath.

In this day and age, it is not really so odd. Reality is just too frightening for most of us; fantasy is more reassuring. Trump is thought of as the new messiah; so was Obama. Hopefully, Trump will prove himself in the months and years to come.
I can’t imaging anyone would think Trump the new Messiah but, even Charles Manson had a fiance while in prison. Anything is possible.

If there are those that think so highly of Trump, certainly it couldn’t be many.

Deny all you want, and have fun with it. Really.

But all you need to do is go onto the Military Times forum…or other military-base sites, and you’ll hear directly from their mouths how disappointed and disgusted many military communities have become with Trump.

You can believe only what you want to be true, or you can look at the facts.

.
Military Times political forums are pretty dead with many threads not having been updated since 2016 or even 2015. The only thread I saw on Trump was about the Kathy Griffin incident, and most was negative toward Griffin.🤷

I bet they aren’t disappointed like they were with Obama!
