OK, here’s my hypothesis about Trump. It is one which NONE of the so-called political experts and pundits on the news channels seem to understand. Basically, I believe he has no real set core of moral or political values. If you wish to call him a racist, a sexist, or whatever, that’s fine. But understand that he is not a true believer in any of these evil “isms.” He could just as easily become a progressive liberal if the occasion and the climate of the country called for it. Remember that he was thinking of running together for the presidency with Oprah Winfrey back in the 1990’s. It doesn’t matter to him whether he takes on the alt-right conservative ideology or the uber-leftist one. He finally through his hat in the presidential ring because the country was ripe for an ultra-conservative leader. He thinks only (or at the least mainly) of his own interests, and he ran for president not to help the country (what a naïve idea that is!) but to set a new stimulating goal for himself. Further, he doesn’t take the negative comments of people all that seriously (if at all so) because he is, in a way, having fun in his new position of power, although, being human, he would prefer praise and adulation to scorn and ridicule. He has that kind of personality which needs constant mountains to climb, and he has found one for three or more years in his role of president. In a sense, he is a genius, not so much of understanding policy or playing politics but of detecting what kind of leader motivates people at a particular period of history. That is why none of his disparaging remarks exhibiting racist and sexist attitudes stick. How could they in the social, political, and generational climate of our times? This the liberals–who keep talking about racism, sexism, xenophobia, and homophobia ad nauseam–utterly fail to understand, much to their present and future detriment.
