Yes and no I suspect. Remember Jews, Italians, Irish, Muslim immigrants all face(d) the same resistance. Some of these groups assimilated in due course. Look at Marco Rubio. Hispanics can assimilate and be fully accepted.

I agree though with those who note that the last two or three years (under Obama) immigration has become so lax that large numbers of Hispanics are now coming to take advantage of lax policies and government mismanagement - I believe they are seeking a better life but not necessarily to become “Americans” or assimilate. This mentality triggers nativist resentment. Not that I am justifying this attitude.
Casting out negatives, lack of substance, we know people have moved out of California because of illegal immigration and in turn, there has been an uproar in many Western States that those Californians have turned states like Washington and Oregon into liberal havens as well.

We don’t need sky high abortion rates as those who stand for an underclass for the Democratic party advocate in every state.

To me, this argument is similar to the refusal of the DOJ to go after banks like HSBC for money-laundering because they were too big and it would hurt the economy.

(Side note: I have no solution, just this observation.)
I don’t have a solution either. I don’t think anybody does. I was just trying to expose the absurdity of a plan to deport 11 million people. It is a fact that illegal immigrants do a lot of low end menial tasks, especially in California. Anyone who has ever lived there knows this is true. It is of course true to a lesser degree throughout the country. African Americans and others who are unemployed will go on unemployment before they pick grapes. I am not being snarky, just citing the reality of the situation. If anybody is going to figure out what to do we have to be able to get all of this out on the table, no? A lot of American companies (particularly small ones) take advantage of cheap labor. My contractor uses Hispanics to do his paint jobs. If you go to Home Depot, any number of Hispanics are all standing outside waiting for small jobs. Americans take of advantage of that. I am thinking about it - water pressurizing off moss. 🙂

All I was driving at again is the simplicity of “just send them all back.” It’s not helpful.

As Sanders is coalescing the socialist left, so is Trump coalescing the nationalist right. I predict this could well be the new Tea Party - nationalism - the US answer to the National Front.

It is apparent that a lot of the American people are dissatisfied with politics as usual and the establishment political candidates of either major party who are controlled by and beholden to their party organizers and lobbyists. Both the Trump and Sanders candidacies feed into this dissatisfaction and hunger for a better way. (It reminds me of the Robert Redford film of the 1970’s, The Candidate.)

Does this come with an English translation?

Yo no hablo español.

No argument there.

It means your points are debunked. I win and I will remain civil. We don’t need liberal voting blocs voting for abortion and who knows what else.

Entiende? Capiche?

:yeah_me: I’m not rude! Bravo for your debate! Have your liberal policies, euthanasia and whatever else the left brings if it is that important but please don’t resort to accusing others of bigotry as a catch all for foisting a liberal agenda on the country.

I am actually not sure how one determines immigrants will turn into liberal voting blocs.

Latinos are normally Catholic and/or Christian.

By the way the Italian Verb Capire is conjugated:

capsico
capisci
capisce
capiamo
capite
capiscono

It means to know or understand.

Not a single point made it through or came anywhere close - but I agree it is best to step back.

The Right and Left, Republicans and Democrats should take responsibility for the damage illegal immigration does because it has support on both sides.

It brings in diseases, a significant criminal element and guess what? Illegal immigration breeds more illegal immigration and organized crime capitalizes on this, women get raped, migrants die in the desert.
According to your last statement, illegal immigrants bring with them diseases, crime, benefits to organized crime, rape, and their own death (as well as that of Americans, I assume). And if the Mexican immigrants entered this country legally, do all these things disappear because the law-abiding people are a different crop, or would they be more or less the same kind of migrant people? If the latter, then maybe we should ban legal immigration from Mexico as well.

And use subsidies from the Government more than others, illegals of course, would be much more likely to use subsidies. I’ve heard Hispanics as a group are more likely to use government subsidies.

They’ve, they meaning illegals, have been polled, they are to the Left of Occupy Wallstreet. Also a big demographic change happened in the one party state of California. We don’t need liberal policies every where.
The stats are out there and this is in a sense, just buying votes with entitlements.

I think 100 years ago the same stuff was said about my ethnic group.

I actually think be allowing Mexicans to come in a more “liberal” fashion, the criminals and those carrying diseases would be screened. The criminals would not be allowed in, the ones carrying diseases would be treated.

Ellis Island worked that way.

I have at least at least 3 great grandparents that came to the US. They bought a ticket, got on a ship and were processed at the port of entry.

I have 1 grandmother who did the same.

They all left to go back to Italy.

Don’t mess us up with logic. It’s a cheap commie ploy for government mind control.

Mario Cuomo died, hopefully in a state of grace.

And curious why you would bring them up. Are they examples if Catholic Democrats or Immigrant Democrats?
They are Catholics. That is all the point is, okay, Andrew Cuomo. Again, you made the point that the “Latinos” are Catholic, well, these people are Catholic too.

Maybe our school districts, unemployed, and hospitals shouldn’t be subsidizing the price of table grapes. Maybe the people who like the grapes should just man up and pay a higher price for them.

I recall that the United Farm Workers union, founded by Cesar Chavez, the largely Hispanic union that represents agricultural workers, opposes open immigration. Can’t say I blame them for that.

Keeping to mainstream sources, Illegals go Democrat 8 to 2 over Republicans. This is a demographic shift, if it were the opposite way, I doubt if we would see this fake compassion for illegal immigrants.
Are unauthorized immigrants overwhelmingly Democrats?
In 2012, the Pew Research Center’s National Survey of Latinos found that among Latino immigrants who are not U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents (and therefore likely unauthorized immigrants), some 31% identify as Democrats and just 4% as Republicans. An additional 33% say they are political independents, 16% mention some other political party and 15% say they “don’t know” or refuse to answer the question.
