So … Iran and North Korea are thinking: hmmmm … Comey gave the election to Trump and Trump just fired Comey. So … what is Trump going to do to us??? [Iran and North Korea.]

Sell them visas for $1 million? 🙂

[And just to confuse things further, Comey will probably file to run for Mayor of New York City.]
Yeah, he threw the election for Trump and this is the thanks he gets?

I smell impeachment…

Against Hillary? 😃

Trump might get impeached someday, but it won’t be for this.

I felt a long time ago that Comey needed to go. Not because he might have hurt Clinton or helped her, or because he said there was no “there” there with the Russia conspiracy theory, or because he said that investigation was ongoing. And not even because he made numerous amazingly elusive statements.

No. It was because he got himself mixed up in the election at all. I truly don’t know what possessed the man to do that. His job was to direct investigations and give the information to the U.S. Attorneys for their further action or inaction.

Exactly!

Thank God we’re finally going to get an independent special counsel to investigate Russian ties to the Trump campaign.
“You don’t have to provides us with any classified information, Senator, but do you believe—do you have evidence that there was in fact collusion between Trump associates and Russia during the campaign?” asked CNN’s Wolf Blizter

“Not at this time,” replied Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), a member of the Senate Intelligence Committee.

No Evidence.

I ask again: Was it worth the damage Trump is doing to the U.S. for a lousy SCOTUS nominee who might not even vote to overturn Roe?

I think not.

This is not what U.S. presidents do. Ever.

I think you are mostly right, but I fear that is not why Comey was fired. The president seemed perfectly happy with Comey’s involvement in the election for 5 months, and now suddenly fires him. Why now? I agree with those that say the optics are terrible.

The left media will make it seem like the worst crime ever committed. But I suspect a lot more people than just me think Comey went way out of his proper place in doing some of the things he did. Maybe now we’ll get an FBI director who does what he’s supposed to do.

Maybe, but I wouldn’t bet my bottom dollar on it.

Firing avoids the dems screaming conspiracy! Trump didn’t collude to make Comey say the things he did…

Good. Now President Trump can appoint a new director who will help ensure that Hillary Clinton is imprisoned. 👍
Something tells me imprisonment of Hillary Clinton isn’t the imprisonment he was concerned about in firing Comey.

Half the country is probably glad. The other half will just put it in the queue of “what can we say to make the Trump Administration look bad today” news slot.

Personally, I don’t think he should have kept him on in the first place and believe it would’ve eventually turned into a very bad mistake.

Honestly I liked him. When both sides attack you, that’s a good sign he’s just doing a good job. Probably the first thing I haven’t liked from Trump. What Comey did in July was heroic. People had a right to know about Crooked H, and he let us know when he saw that Bill and Loretta were trying to cover it up. God bless him.

Although I admired the way he laid out the situation in July, lettng us know she would have been prosecuted if it hadn’t been for her position, the reason he did what he did was to keep Lynch, who had improperly (and insanely!) met with Bill Clinton in the La airport.

From the OP article: “‘The Director was wrong to usurp the Attorney General’s authority on July 5, 2016, and announce his conclusion that the case should be closed without prosecution. It is not the function of the Director to make such an announcement,’”

Another repugnant move by the most repugnant administration in my lifetime. 😦
