For what it’s worth Gov Rauner (R-Ill) had already announced he won’t be attending.
Many Illinois voters would probably say not much and not unexpected considering he voted for a bill striking at the religious freedom of Catholics and has to jump through hoops to get union votes Downstate and elitist votes in suburban Chicago.

It’s also okay to not have all of your eggs in one basket, which is why I generally support Kasich and Rubio as well for their position even on Trump.

You mean like when Trump lied about seeing thousands of New Jersey Muslims cheering 9/11?
According to the official account 9/11 was carried out by Muslims with a hatred for the US. There were Muslims worldwide, and in the US, who celebrated this day. Lewis claimed that at a specific event he was called a specific word. There is video evidence that this did not occur. So no, not like when Trump ‘lied’.

…who were not standing on the Jersey shore cheering by the thousands. (one of many Trump lies)
Lewis claimed that at a specific event he was called a specific word. There is video evidence that this did not occur.
The video evidence is incomplete. Several of Lewis’ colleagues also heard it.

How is it you know no one was standing on the Jersey Shore cheering? What is the evidence this didn’t happen? How is it you can refute that and call it a lie yet the incident reported by Lewis and others, which we have video tape of which does not capture a slur, you consider to not be a lie?

That’s an easy one. Trump is the devil incarnate and not to be believed. Even when Trump says the sky is blue, he is lying.
Democrats are as pure as fresh snow.

It is vastly more difficult to hide thousands of cheering Muslims than it is to miss one protestor shouting a racial slur. Did Trump witness this cheering personally? No. He said he saw a video of it. Yet that video has mysteriously never been seen.

So the fact the video hasn’t been produced means Trump is lying. At the same time the video produced which does not back up Lewis’ claim means he isn’t lying. I think I get how this works.

Trump may be wrong about the numbers or the location. But it is corroborated that Muslims in New Jersey were celebrating. The point he was trying to make stands.

The problem isn’t that he says the sky is blue and no one believes him.

It’s more like “Did you all see that green sky?”

And people get annoyed at those that point out that the sky is not actually green.

And he insists it’s green, until he says that he never said it was green, the media made it up.

And then people say, “The fake news people say Trump said the sky is green” followed by tweets that say “The crooked media lied about what I said about the sky, SAD.”

And if you point out “Here’s a video of him saying the sky is green.” “Well, you’re a liberal and you’re just mad that your candidate lost”

Lovely: hope you don’t mind one addition in brackets:

[First they say, “Well your candidates said that the sky is red, so they are just as bad and they set the precedent for all lies about the color of the sky” (leaving out that the reference was to a particularly vivid sunset). Then they say,

“Well, you’re a liberal and you’re just mad that your candidate lost”

Of course he lied, because Trump said the video did exist, but nobody else saw it.
So nobody else saw the video just like nobody, except John Lewis and his race baiting friends, heard a slur. And Trump is the liar.
The claim was thousands cheering" .
Why do you raise the question of “no one” cheering?
Because Trump could be wrong about the number. Or he could have meant thousands were cheering all over the world (and they were). The point was, I think, not so much about numbers but about aliens in this country who are cheering for us being attacked.

Point #1: Lewis and his friends. That’s several. No one besides Trump claims to have seen what Trump saw.

Point #2: It is a lot easier to believe that only 3 people heard the race baiting by one protester than it is to believe that only one person saw thousands of cheering Muslims on the Jersey shore.

You can think about whatever you want, but that does not change what Trump said. And if you are going to start making poetic excuses for Trump, how about considering that maybe Lewis was thinking about all the times he was beaten and spit upon and called all sorts of names while marching with Dr. King? It is amazing the lengths some people will go to to excuse an obvious lie.

I never saw any (on the news or in person), and I live here. Frankly I don’t think any of the Muslim immigrant communities would have been so brazen as to do so, given how on edge everyone was in the days after the attack.

Whatever good Lewis might have done doesn’t change the fact he isn’t trustworthy now. He claims all sorts of laws are designed to bring back segregation and likens modern politicians to George McGovern. He is like the little boy who cried wolf.

Throw anything on the wall and see what sticks, eh?

In response to a news report about Obama, a friend said to me, “Now I know what Obama is going to do. He’ll lead the effort to “equalize” wealth in the world.” I responded, as follows:

I think that has been his goal from the beginning. Global Warming Alarmism is one way of bringing that about. Jacque Chirac said, “It is all about global governance”.

Obamacare is a transfer of wealth scheme more than a healthcare plan. Open borders is another way of transferring wealth, in that illegal workers who pay no taxes and often receive welfare benefits, and send a lot of money back to relatives in Mexico. For those of us who still believe it is a sin to steal, ends do not justify means and this is a form of international communism.

Alan Keyes probably hit the nail on the head when he said, “Mr. Obama is a communist”. His mother was a radical, his grandparents were left-wingers, and his mentor, Frank Marshall Davis was a card carrying member of the Communist Party. In my opinion, Obama, if not a full-blown communist, is at least a communist sympathizer.

Communism has been the major heresy/apostasy since the French Revolution, And, as Our Lady said at Fatima, “Russia will spread her errors throughout the world”. And they are still spreading even after their demise in Russia herself. They seem to have a persistent foothold right here in what should be the bastion of freedom and a shining light of liberty.

Trump’s election is a reaction to the realization that we are headed down the road of global totalitarian control of everything and everyone. Watch Europe. The same realization is dawning on the benighted people of Europe as well.

Perhaps Trump plays the latter day role of Cyrus, to free us from captivity.
