In a classic authoritarian tactic, Trump also vastly over stated the extent of lawlessness and political violence, then promoted himself as the kind of strongman needed to restore order. And he tipped his hand over his new campaign tactic by opening his appearance with a boast about the stock market and a perfunctory mention of the pandemic that brought the country to its knees. Then it was on to his real topic: “left-wing political violence.”

In one sense, Trump’s gambit has already succeeded. He has moved the ground of the election away from the Covid-19 crisis and the multiple political corruption scandals that have clouded his term from day one. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, however, made an attempt to wrest the conversation back to Covid-19, using an interview on MSNBC to accuse the President of saying to Americans “choose me over your child” as some kids go back to school without the testing infrastructure and needed safety precautions.

This is totally made up. The tells are that when he knows something, he actually spills the whole thing. Also, the presence of “like you’ve never seen before” which is a rhetorical flourish added when he actually has nothing to say.

Trump added on “The Ingraham Angle” that an RNC attendee had traveled to Washington “on a plane from a certain city, and in the plane it was almost completely loaded with thugs wearing these dark uniforms, black uniforms with gear and this and that.”

The president declined to say who had told him the story, but promised Ingraham he would reveal it “sometime.”

“This person was coming to the Republican National Convention and there were like seven people in the plane [with] this person, and then a lot of people were on the plane to do big damage,” Trump insisted. “This is all happening.”

The president added that “people you’ve never heard of, people in the dark shadows” may be facilitating much of the left’s activism.

“The money is coming from some very stupid rich people [who] have no idea that if their thing ever succeeded, which it won’t, they will be thrown to the wolves like you’ve never seen before,” he said.

God bless the president, he speaks the truth and all needs to be told.

CNN is suspect, they post articles like this daily.

Hmm. A commercial flight had thugs in uniforms with gear. And they all got passed TSA, on boarded the flight.

To Washington DC.

And they all got off.

And nobody noticed.

Or took a picture.

Must be one of the president’s cute funny jokes that no one gets.

Yes, because that is how secret violent cabals work - they travel in their black uniforms carrying their thug gear. Of course no one usually notices them because of their ninja training.

You know, I totally didn’t think of the Ninja aspect. That’s why no one noticed them!

Trump will obviously say anything. I wish the news person had questioned him more closely on this claim.

The problem is that some of the naive folks in his base lap up these types of stories and believe them to be true.

What are Republicans saying about Trump’s claims?

" G.O.P. reaction. The Times tried to reach about a dozen leading congressional Republicans and ask for their reaction to Trump’s claims. “None cared to comment,” Mark Leibovich writes. Senator Mitt Romney offered one of the few public responses, calling the president’s comments “simply jaw-dropping.”"

It’s like Geraldo Rivera says, at first the Democrats said these were peaceful protests, now bait and switch, they are Trump’s fault. Despicable.

“In an audacious bait-and-switch, Democrats have been claiming for four months that the looting, the violence, and the disorder are just peaceful protests – now, Joe Biden and company are admitting that the upheavals are, indeed, riots, they’re riots.

The news person isn’t actually a news person. Laura Ingraham is a trump supporter.

An interesting part of the interview is when he started to ramble about how officers “choke” (poor choice of words 🤦‍♀️ ) and shoot someone. And started to compare it to playing golf.

She interjects “you aren’t comparing police shootings to golf.”

Yes he was.

Gaslighting.

Trump is very pro-life, he’s not the one who stands for violence. CNN should try to report things honestly.

If anything the Dems are quick on their feet re their pivot on the riots looting, assaults.Nary a word for nearly four months.Only after their polls start dropping do they speak out and true to form blame Trump.
Think anybody is buying their bs ? Well, only those most ardent Trump haters.

Of course he does not openly stand for violence. Neither did Chancellor Palpatine. But violence does benefit him politically.
More unfounded mudslinging.

Anyone collaborating on abortion per the Vatican does support violence. Trump is not doing that.

No, it doesn’t benefit him politically, he is for America.

Yeah, sure, the Democrats said nothing or indeed, gave tacit support, didn’t Obama?

Common wisdom is that violence in the cities benefits Trump if he is able to tie the violence to the Democrats. You can read about it in any number of sources.

That’s why the Democrats are starting to push back.
