TURN OFF THE CAPS LOCKS - IT DOESN’T MAKE ANYONE WANT TO READ IT ANY MORE!!!

I find it amusing that you think “voting like Jesus” is to vote for discriminatory racial laws that sound remarkably like nazi Germany’s, which will, as history has proven time and again, deepen the divides that allow extremeism to flourish in the first place. Perhaps, also, you’re forgetting that Jesus was of Middle-Eastern origin, certainly not white.
The caps make it easier to read for me on certain daysI had eye surgery. But, on Benghazi the caps probably can’t be big enough. There are no discriminatory racial laws held by the Rubliicans. I want legal immigration on all borders, as Jesus would. GIVE UNTO CAESAR,ETC. I WANT TO STOP ALL HOSTILE, ARAB COUNTRIES FROM IMIGRATING TILL WE HAVE A HANDLE ON THE VETTING PROCESS. I HAD A SWEET LEBANESE UNCLE,. I have more black friends than white. We have had friends stay w us till they got on their feet. I have friends that are gsy, my brother was bisexuals RIP? MY other brother was an alcohlic. They both were and both died hemorrhaging to death from esophageal varicies. I have had my house full of body piercers, gays and transvestites. Not a prejudicial bone in my body. Jesus was a Jew from the mideast w tan skin. His line is from Abraham. So, the Arab and Jew are half brothers. They say they will infiltrate the refugees and they will. If you don’t know the Arab Prophecy look up one of my past threads. It is a shame one can’t make a happy font. Italics maybe. YOU WERE DEFINITELY MISTAKEN. BUT, DISAGREE W LOVE. ILLEGALITY AND SAFETY ARE THE ISSUES.

As someone who is new to Catholicism, I’ve never voted in an election as a Catholic… before I was a hardcore liberal democrat and so I always followed elections and voted “blue.” Since I became Catholic, I’ve been kind of confused about how to proceed, because I can’t find myself voting for these libertarian neo-con hicks and war-mongers, “kick-granny-to-the-curb” and “screw-minorities” republican candidates… but I can’t vote for abortion-industry-loving candidates who advocate marriage equality either…

Sometimes I wish there was a Catholic Party, then it would be easy… even if we lost every year (which we would). At least we wouldn’t have to think too hard about it. hehe
Read the Bishop’s Forming Conscience for Faithful Citizenship in its entirety. It might not make your decision any easier, but it will give you insight that was approved by the American Bishops. It talks on the issues you mentioned above.

Why not vote third party? If you’re not voting you’re not stating a position on either of the two major parties, rather no position at all. And the two party status quo rolls on.

Third party means a vote for Hillary.
Not voting means a vote for Hillary.
If Donald Trump remains a Republican, and becomes the nominee, I WILL Vote for him.
Made my decision.
And I’m sure he’d be way better than what we’ve had the last 7 years, even though he isn’t now my candidate of choice.

A bit off-topic but since some people say a catholic should never vote for a pro-abortion politician, what should one vote for if there is no major politican who isn’t pro-abortion? Because that is the situation in my country…
I agree abortion is a horrible thing, and voting is hard.

He may in fact have had white skin while natural-bodied. There are fair-complected Mideasterns today, who are not Euro-Israelis.

Israel was a crossroads for three continents in Biblical times and s got everybody and every kind of DNA or skin.

We ought not attempt to turn our LORD into a poster boy for the racial/ethnic cause du jour.

If the choice isn’t offered, then we can’t be expected to make it. Full stop.

I think many people are overly quick to think that Trump will get the Republican nomination … just because he now has 20-30% of Republicans behind him, which is more than anyone else has, doesn’t mean that he will get the nomination. (If he were above 50% I would, naturally, be much much more worried.)

But having said that, I have been thinking recently that the “pledge to support the (eventual) nominee” might not be such a good idea after all. What I mean is, maybe it should only be “pledge not to run as a third-party candidate”. Heck, I think some who took the pledge are already finding themselves in a difficult PR spot, vis-a-vis the question of whether they would support Trump if (just if) he wins the primary.

I don’t want to have to stand before God and give an account for why I voted for Trump. 😛

Xenophobia, fear-mongering, hate speech, ego-mania, and recklessness to the point of jeopardizing the common good is not something I think Christ would want us to “support.”

But I won’t be voting for Hillary either. Abortion…etc.

I guess I won’t be voting for another election!
I know a lot of people and I mean a lot (including a lot if.democrats who have said that if Hillary wins they won’t vote) who have stated that if it is Trump.v Hillary they won’t vote.

No a third party vote is a vote for whomever you’re voting for who is running for that third party. The best way to break the two party stranglehold on this country is to stop playing by it’s rules. And one of them is this fallacy.

I’m starting to expect that Trump will break the pledge and run third party if he loses the Republican nomination.

My guess is that you are a Hillary supporter. In this day and time, a third party only mucks up the water. Until any party can get a viable ground with the election of representaives and/or senators, they are only going to hand the election to the Democrat. Perhaps that has been Trump’s plan all along.

In one post you managed to make it so very clear how much you still have to learn. hehe

I know you said you don’t want to think too hard, but which Republican candidates want to “screw minorities” and “kick granny to the curb”. Don’t give us democrat talking points or fear mongering. Actual examples, please.

And which, exactly, are the “neo con hicks”. You think that’s appropriate language for any Christian? Particularly a Catholic?
I second this request, Mark. How did you come to the conclusions about Republicans that you have? Facts, please.

And, welcome home.

I feel very similarly.

I know historically in the US many Catholics voted Democrat, and then many Catholics aligned themselves with the Republican Party, for the life issues. That’s what I’ve done personally.

But many Republicans barely tolerate us Catholics. Just as proof, look at Ann Coulter’s twitter feed from when Pope Francis was visiting, and the responses to her tweets. 😦 I know she isn’t poster girl for the Republican party. But so far for this election, the front runner has a lot in common with Ms. Coulter.

So if it’s Hillary/Trump, I probably won’t vote, or if there is a third party candidate on the ballot, I might vote for him.

**My guess is that you are a Hillary supporter.**You’d be guessing wrong. I’m not a supporter of either of the two leading candidates (nor a member of any political party). And if either of them are the major party’s choices, they won’t be getting my vote. Trump and Hillary are both ill equipped to be president.

As for a third party only handing the election to a democrat, people said the same thing about third parties handing the election to the Republicans 16 years ago.
I would say that the people who say that are correct. (Hey, a stopped clock is right twice a day.)

Nah only the people that say the Broward County commissioners handed it to the Republicans 16 years ago are right… 😃

(I kid, I kid…)

I haven’t voted for a long time. It’s pointless. No one is moral enough. I could write in a vote or vote third party (haven’t seen anyone good there either for a while), but that just takes a vote away from the ‘Lesser of two evils’. Whoever that may be. Though I honestly can’t say who that is in this election. When someone vote-worthy runs for office, THEN I will vote. 🤷
