Although I question the president’s legal authority to take these actions, I am in favor of extending unemployment benefits and eviction protections. People need help. But…suspending payroll taxes? If you are unemployed and not receiving a paycheck, you’re already not paying payroll taxes. This isn’t going to help anyone. I suspect this is just Trump’s way of driving a few nails into the coffins of Social Security and Medicare.
 
The country will get rid of Trump before they get rid of Medicare and Social Security. They are immensely popular.

Umm, neither is dependent on payroll taxes. Congress has been stealing that money for over 50 years. Suspending them will have a minuscule impact compared to what Congress has done.
 
I wonder what people who are currently receiving social security benefits of any sort think of this.

I already suspect I will not be able to retire at 66 and 4 months (2 years from now) as I fully expect the Republicans to get rid of social security and medicare. I guess I should just remember that God did say we would have to labor all our lives.

If he wanted to help people, why not cut the income tax. Of course, this wasn’t really a cut, it was a deferment, which might or might not be made into a perm. cut if he is re-elected.

I would suggest anyone that receives this “cut” save that money because you may have to pay it next April.

They’re also on their way to being broke, not because of Trump, but because the Democrats in the sixties couldn’t resist spending that money.
Then the Republicans joined in.

I give credit to Trump for this executive order. The American people desperately need help, and the Congress is useless, particularly Mitch McConnell.

He said he will suspend them, then forgive them if re-elected. I guess those on Social Security are in for a rough time.

I am curious how this will play out in the courts. I suspect he is violating the Sixteenth Amendment. If there is some sort of moratorium on these taxes, I hope Americans are wise enough to hold on to that money for next April.
 
half of this is paid by the employer. I suspect most employers will not take advantage of this deferment. It will be easier to pay it each payday rather then potentially have a huge tax liability on the day after the election. No matter who wins, I doubt it will be extended. This is a blow at all people receiving Social Security benefits, if not now, soon.
 
Isn’t executive orders bypassing Congressional laws and statues the reason we were supposed to dislike Obama?

I believe Social Security might morph into "Stimulus " which then morphs into “Basic Income”.

Donald Trump is destroying this country, look at the budget deficits over 1 trillion per year (and people complained about Obama!!) THIS WILL MAKE THINGS EVEN WORSE! I honestly can’t wait until I can vote for Joe Biden.
 
As long as the president is going to have a pen and phone, I would rather it is in the hands of a nationalist rather than a globalist.
 
Trump is a business man that runs a multi-national company (Scotland, Turkey, Dubai,Philippines, India, etc) and out-sources his manufacturing to Asian companies. How is he not a globalist in fact even if he talks like a nationalist?
 
I judge him by his actions in office. I will also point out that he simply reacted to the US government’s globalist policies. Now he works on fixing them.
 
Has he brought his manufacturing back to the United States? Or does that not count as an action?
