Why don’t you give it a break? you are not american. I can’t understand why you’d so be concerned that our country might try something that won’t work.
I appreciate the voices of non-Americans here. Heaven knows Americans have enough to say about what happens around the world – and what happens here also impacts the world. We would be naive to think the presidential election won’t impact anyone outside the US.

Your use of the word “exponents” here is neither sustainable nor practical, and it has no merits.

This is interesting regarding Trump and the New York primary:
In state after state, Trump’s support among registered Republicans has been lower than among Independents. In New York, if you were a registered Independent, you needed to switch your party registration to Republican in October 2015 in order to vote in the primary for Trump on Tuesday. Trump’s own children, and one of his top surrogates Michael Cohen, failed to do so and can’t vote for Trump. If three of the members of Trump’s inner circle didn’t know about the registration law, it is highly probable that many of his fans did not either.
This can skew the polling, because most of the pollsters have not used a voter file to pre-screen for Republicans. They have relied on the self-selection of voters. Siena pollster Steven Greenberg confirmed to Conservative Review that his poll does not pre-screen for only GOP voters, yet relies on respondents to say they are likely to vote in the primary. This is accomplished through a series of screening questions.
There is a very real possibility that hundreds of thousands of Trump fans will show up to the polls on Tuesday and be turned away, because they are not registered Republicans. This is one of the strongest indicators that Trump may be kept under 50 percent.

No, it is a reflection of the value of your argument, not the wall. Your confusion is quite evident.

Catholic parents have a duty to teach their children the sanctity of ALL life and teach them while they are young. If they did that, abortions would drop dramatically.
I agree that parents do need to step up to the plate, but they need to also teach their children about important health issues, including STD’s and contraception. I taught high school for 35 years, and I guarantee you nay sayers that parents who stick their heads in the sand and only promote chastity are not doing their kids any kind of favor. Without correct information concerning their sexuality, we will continue to have teens finding themselves pregnant. I can’t imagine sending a son or daughter off to live in the dorms without first having a serious discussion concerning all manner of sexual issues, including the rampant date rape epidemic that seems to be spreading. Young men need to understand that when a girl says NO the first time, that is it! Information and education regarding sexual issues is a safety must for our teens. Please realize that by making sex a big mystery and forbidden to speak about that we are putting our children in danger. Of course, as usual, the views above are just my most humble opinion…

I wonder if anyone has done a study to find out what percent of CAF posters are Americans and what percent are foreigners (or whatever).

Practicality of the “wall” along our southern border is more mandatory, required, desired, and resulting in solutions to: smuggling dope, humans, weaponry, counterfeit money, prevention of criminals, stolen goods, disease prevention, and that is enough to start.
The cost of this “wall” which really translates to mean a physical barrier enhanced by electronic technology that will provide prevention of crossing - over and under this border.

This is an important issue that American people have identified as not being addressed for too long. As for paying the cost, it will be a bargain! Mutual business will be the basis for providing the money.

It would be a nice change of pace if the US got a little friendly encouragement instead of what has been given. The news on the other side of the pond does not reflect the US
extending insults, negativity, or bashing. :tiphat:

Ireland and England have problems with crimes and compare in severity, not quantity. The fact that they are both smaller land masses surrounded by seas does not require the same level of physical protection. Nature helps out in that area.

And the money is already allocated, and has been for years:rolleyes:

I would like Trump to explain how he is going to build a wall in Texas when most of the land needed for such a wall is on private property. I know he’s a big fan of eminent domain but I would think seizing thousands of miles of private property would give even Trump pause. There are also treaties which prohibit building in the Rio Grande area so a wall in Texas would need to be set far back from the actual border.

If he does use eminent domain to seize the land will he compensate the landowners not just for the property seized but for the loss of value that comes from having a big, ugly wall in your backyard? What happens when a few ranchers decide they don’t want the government to seize their land and call in the militias? It will make Bundy ranch and Malheur look like a church picnic. Good luck with that.

Google “Texas border wall” if you think I’m imagining any of this. As an added bonus, hit “image search” and see what has already been done to some people’s private property with the current fence.

Actually, it appears walls do work if they’re done right. As I understand it, the wall at San Diego is quite effective.

A good portion of the border is, in effect, protected by severe desert or other natural barriers. I think there is general agreement that a series of wall segments actually would work. If one combined that with something like an import tax equal to the cost of guarding the border and returning illegal entrants, it’s likely that Mexican business interests would press the government to patrol it’s side of the border too and stop encouraging emigration. Mexico does guard its southern border and resolutely returns illegals that cross its southern border unless, of course, they’re on their way to the U.S. We’re the patsies in all of this.

What disastrous results do you foresee if waterboarding were used and whatever you think Trump is going to do to women? Do you not think it’s remarkable that there are no complaints coming from female Trump employees? Do you think for a minute the Democrat operatives have failed to search high and low for one who claims they’re underpaid, sexually harassed or something?

Well said, Grace. I, too, appreciate the (name removed by moderator)ut of our friends from other countries and am shocked that the moderators allow their contributions to the discussion to be denigrated with comments such as “you’re not even American.”

Frankly I think we posters scare a lot of them off. I think they are water in the desert if I am being honest about it.

How is it a denigration to say he’s not American? It’s the truth. Posters have the right to respond or not, to offer explanations or not, to take opinions into consideration or not. I didn’t insult the foreign poster at all, only saying that I wouldn’t consider his opinion very weighty as we are talking about the national interests of Americans. You have the right to judge his posts however you wish and I have mine.

Contraception use is against Catholic teaching.

Pope Francis had something to say about sex education in the recently released Apostolic Exhortation:
“Frequently, sex education deals primarily with ‘protection’ through the practice of ‘safe sex.’ Such expressions convey a negative attitude towards the natural procreative finality of sexuality, as if an eventual child were an enemy to be protected against. This way of thinking promotes narcissism and aggressivity in place of acceptance. It is always irresponsible to invite adolescents to toy with their bodies and their desires, as if they possessed the maturity, values, mutual commitment and goals proper to marriage. They end up being blithely encouraged to use other persons as a means of fulfilling their needs or limitations. The important thing is to teach them sensitivity to different expressions of love, mutual concern and care, loving respect and deeply meaningful communication.”

Same thing as Obama going around the world apologizing for America. As long as foreign nationals agree with your stances on certain things (such as trump-bashing), they are so much better than fellow Americans.

I actually don’t think “elite” is a bad word. I don’t think you and I will ever see eye to eye and I suspect we are both pretty thankful about that.
