If I just wanted someone Hillary could handily beat, it would be Cruz. It will be close with Trump.
It’s not so much that we Democrats want Trump to be the GOP nominee. In fact, I think he would be a formidable candidate in the general election.
This narrative makes me think of Cecile Richards the other day saying that “A woman voting for Ted Cruz is like a chicken voting for Colonel Sanders” while leaving the GOP frontrunner alone. I guess y’all know better than to let facts get in the way. 😉

OMG, whoops (I thought you liked him). I agree with you on Trump being the awful, absolutely last choice that is. I am almost on board myself. But simply because we have hit the end of the road, and it is a wall (no pun intended). No other workable option.

I actually like Cruz too - but he cannot win, no way, that is a dead end. We have to ask ourselves do we want Hillary or Trump, guys.
Yep this is pretty much the case.Out of almost 400 million in this country and these two are what we are left to choose, sigh…

Neither one has been nominated yet! Clinton probably will be, but Trump, not so sure. And I don’t think Trump is changing or moving to the center. He’s back to calling Cruz “Lyin’ Ted!”

So out of nearly 400 million people in the country, the two people the electorate distrusts the most are the front runners. 🤷

I think you have been misled. Do you have any proof?

Emily’s list alone ,which is PAC devoted to promoting pro-abortion women has given her nearly a million dollars themselves Hillary gets a LOT of money for her support of abortion

PP gave 700,000 to the Clinto foundation in 2012 alone

:shrug:Indeed.

One has to wonder how that happened! I realize people talk about conventions being rigged, but the fact remains that more people have voted for Clinton and Trump than any other two candidates, and they did have other choices. 🤷

That’s what amazes me too 🤷

So much human potential, such a vast population…and Trump/Clinton are the best that can be mustered.

I agree 100%.

I find it kind of strange and kind of amusing that the only district Trump did not win in New York was Manhattan, his own home district.

New York City actually really dislikes Trump; the city is liberal, diverse. Trump does well in Long Island, Buffalo, upstate. Again, there are basically no Republicans in New York City, some in New York State.

It never ceases to amaze me how well Trump does with Republicans in New England, NH, RI, CT, VT, Mass. Those folks are LIBERAL, man, even the GOP. And they love Trump. That is what is changing my mind, making me see this “racist, bigoted” Trump as the straw man that he is - created by the left and the right anti-Trump movement. I see Trump as arrogant, aggressive, lacking in experience, diplomacy, knowledge, ethics (he is not “likable” to me). But he is smart, adaptable. I am impressed by how he put this new campaign team in place, hired insiders. Totally stopped the psycho tweeting. It tells me he is learning as he goes along. I think he could actually win outright or on the first ballot.

Politicians are not saints. They are usually arrogant, pushy, dishonest people, from Kennedy to Nixon, Thatcher to Putin to Reagan. If you look at history you will see this. The mud we are in here is nothing new. Read about Andrew Jackson vs. John Quincy Adams. Horrible stuff.

It’s not magic; they just can’t stand Democrats. And even the GOP hates Cruz.

Trump doesn’t have the Bill Clinton/Obama charisma. People have just flocked to him because he said what they were thinking. Now, if he moves to the center and “business as usual,” he’s going to lose his base - the people who want him to shake things up.
Do not fear. Trump reverted back today in Indiana from “Senator Cruz” to “Lyen’ Ted.” Back to “normal.”

I believe Andrew Jackson actually held a drunken party and partially destroyed the White House.

Well, there you go! I rest my case.

Actually Jackson saved us from the Brits (:D). He was a military man and I believe had a conviction here or there - a real man of the people, that sort of thing. I don’t think he started out a millionaire who went on to do reality TV and build lots of hotels… Oh well.
A living dog is better than a dead lion. Shall a man go and hang himself because he belongs to the race of pigmies, and not be the biggest pigmy that he can? Let every one mind his own business, and endeavor to be what he was made.

I think you’re referring to Jackson’s innaugural ball that got a bit out of hand with partycrashers.

On the Republican side, it suggests to me that we were badly divided already, even if the division wasn’t apparent till recently. I mean we had lots of good candidates, but none of them could gather more support than Trump’s 40ish percent (and of course that percentage includes a few who only went Trump after their first choice exited).

I think Andrew Jackson would have as much chance of winning the WH today as Donald Trump does.
