I’m not an expert but it seems the Clintons have lined their pockets with hundreds of thousands (millions?) giving speeches - this seems to be less about “public service” and more about profiting from your public position. I am concerned that the Clintons may not be as passionate about the issues as they present but rather more using public service as a family for-profit business. This is not to say that Donald Trump may not be immune from this but I think that he is more legitimately interested in helping our country.

If Trump stayed on message and not fight the everyone, the media would have a field day with HRC, but when he goes after a military family, or doesn’t endorse when his campaign asked others to endorse him, or his spokeswomen lied about Capt. Khan and Pres. Obama, just to name a few, Trump will continue to dominate. the headlines.
I still think he will learn from his political mistakes. I figure he felt he could just do what worked in the primaries going forward and that would work. I think he probably noticed that is not working and we should see a change in the next few days.

No one gets to be a multi-billionaire without learning from past mistakes.

It’s millions.

Why do you give Trump a pass on greed, but criticize the success of the Clintons? I think he has been more financially successful, if you just want to criticize success. I personally do not criticize either of them for just being successful. That is the American way.

Pro-Life Group Endorses Donald Trump: Millions More Babies Will Die Under Hillary Clinton

lifenews.com/2016/08/04/pro-life-group-endorses-donald-trump-millions-more-babies-will-die-under-hillary-clinton/
First off, I am not a Republican nor Democrat. I would say I am an Independent voting for the best person for office based on values not power. I wasn’t going to say anything but I have to step in.

I’m curious. Where in the U.S. Constitution does it state that the founding fathers created a theocracy and not a democracy? A democracy was instituted to govern all people regardless of race, color, creed, religion or gender. There are many instead who want to create a theocracy imposing their religious viewpoints on the rest of society. Pro Life using slick slogans and easy solution without explaining any of the ramifications

The hyprocrisy is apparent when the same religious denominations which the Christian research group LifeWay at the behest of pro-life group Care Net, paints a very different picture of those seeking abortions than you might imagine. The study interviewed 1,038 women who had received an abortion. Surprisingly,** a full 70 percent of these women were Christian.**.

What did Jesus say about judging others? People in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones. Clean up your own house before trying to impose moral standards on those that don’t accept your belief system.

Oh, by the way, the GOP promotes a culture of death. How can i say that? Very simply, 35% of all teenage pregnancies end in abortion. Many more if you impose your view on outlawing contraceptives!

Who is going to pay for the prenatal care for the mother? Who is going to pay for complications arising from pregnancy? Who is going to pay for the medical malpractice insurance? Who is going to pay for the hospital costs? Who is going to pay for daycare? Who is going to pay for feeding, clothing and housing of the child? Who is going to pay for medical, dental, vision of the child? Who is going to pay for the utilties? Who is going to pay if the child has down syndrome or is autistic? Are you?

The GOP wants to end entitlement programs for the poor, the elderly and the disabled. Many cry out about the govt. paying for such services by taxing them. They don’t want any of thier wealth to be redistributed to groups mentioned above. They want to cut Medicaid and Medicare programs, cut food stamps where the majority of recipients are children and the elderly, they want to get rid of universal healthcare, cut section 8 housing costs.

Hyprocrisy and you just can’t make this stuff up. For an example, the Alabama Republicans are escalating their war against the poor on receiving food stamps or financial support if they own cars. They can have cars if they are employed. However in some counties in Alabama, the unemployment rate is 40%. The Anti-Gay Alabama GOP governor Robert Bentley who touted his Christian faith and conservative “family values” engaged in an extramarital affair with his former communications director Rebekah Mason Christian mother of 3 using taxpayer’s expense to fund their indiscretions. Her Christian husband at the time was the director Director the Governor’s Office of Faith-based and Volunteer Service. In the mean time, he removed salary caps on his advisers while cutting Medicaid, SNAP, and teacher salaries in his state.

Why is this important? Because the GOP plans on slashing funding to Social Security, Medicaid, Food Assistance and Pell Grants. Their strategy is to call welfare recipients too lazy to work. To arouse their base against those on food stamps, make claims that people are buying lobster and champagne at check out stands. GOP passed a bill slashing $100M from food stamps while boosting farm subsidies and boosting money for crop insurance. 45 percent of food stamp benefits went to children under 18, totaling about 20 million youngsters. Nine percent of recipients were age 60 or older, and nearly 10 percent were disabled adults who were under 60.

Why is this important? If you outlaw abortion, the children will starve to death, die for lack of medical care or freeze to death for lack of clothing, heating, and housing.

Of all developed countries in the world, data on the well-being of children in 35 developed nations the United States is 34 out of 35 only Romania is the worst. The bottom 90% in the U.S. hold 73% of all debt. 1979 and 2007 incomes of the top 1% of Americans grew by an average of 275%.The richest 1 percent in the United States now own more wealth than the bottom 90 percent.

My position is you cannot legislate your version of morality on immoral society under a democracy. Prohibition didn’t work in America. It only gave rise to organized crime. So where are the plans that will address all these issues if abortion is banned? Enough with the slogans. Will not God hold the individual women responsible? Mercy triumphs judgement James 2:13.

If a fetus is considered life, why are they not baptized and given a Christian burial by the church?

In the Christian Bible, Jesus stated: when you give a dinner or a supper, do not ask your friends, your brothers, your relatives, nor rich neighbors, lest they also invite you back, and you be repaid. But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind. And you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you; for you shall be repaid at the resurrection of the just. Luke 14:12-14

Yep, Trump is really hitting the skids. We’re back to trying to get a silk purse out of a sow’s ear. I am glad it is still relatively early days and that his opponent is Hillary Clinton. But I am surprised at how derailed he has been recently - can’t deny it.

In Politico, “Gaps in Melania Trump’s immigration story raise questions”
The Trump campaign and Trump Organization representatives did not address questions about the type of visa Trump first used to enter the country, but it has been widely reported that she came here on an H-1B work visa. Writer Mickey Rapkin, who interviewed Melania for a May profile in the luxury lifestyle magazine DuJour, said she confirmed as much to him. “When I interviewed Melania, I mentioned that she’d come to New York on that H-1B visa, and she nodded in agreement,” Rapkin wrote in an email to POLITICO.
Trump’s tale of returning to Europe for periodic visa renewals is inconsistent with her holding an H-1B visa at all times she was living in New York — even if it was the lesser-known H-1B visa specifically designed for models — said multiple immigration attorneys and experts. An H-1B visa can be valid for three years and can be extended up to six years — sometimes longer — and would not require renewals in Europe every few months. If, as she has said, Trump came to New York in 1996 and obtained a green card in 2001, she likely would not have had to return to Europe even once to renew an H-1B.
Instead, Trump’s description of her periodic renewals in Europe are more consistent with someone traveling on a B-1 Temporary Business Visitor or B-2 Tourist Visa, which typically last only up to six months and do not permit employment.

Why do you give Trump a pass on greed, but criticize the success of the Clintons? I
The focus is who is better for the job of President based on how much they can be trusted not to abuse their power and to what extent they view public service as “self service”.

It’s hard for me not to conclude that he got to where he is today by adopting the pugilistic style of the World Wrestling Federation (where he used to perform) and belittling a lot of people, mocking their appearances or gender or abilities. But that that’s not working as well in the general election where you want to expand your base of support, as it did in the primaries.

The issue of what kind of visa Melania Trump had when she was working in the US is starting to be picked up by a number of media sites including the BBC, the Washington Post, Mother Jones, The Guardian, The Atlantic, Huffington Post, Bloomberg, etc.
Melania Trump, the wife of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, has rejected suggestions that she violated visa rules when she started working as a model in New York.
In a statement she said she had followed immigration laws “at all times”.
Mrs Trump has yet to clarify what type of visa she used during a 1995 photo shoot in New York.
Mr Trump has taken a hard line on illegal immigration in his campaign.
Mrs Trump said she began working as a model in the US in 1996, but nude photos published at the weekend by a New York tabloid appear to have been taken in 1995 for a now defunct French magazine.
BBC Washington correspondent Gary O’Donoghue says this discrepancy has raised questions about her immigration status at the time and whether she had the right to work.
bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-36981502

One strange discrepancy is that she said that she came to work in the US in 1996, but the nude photos published by the New York Post were shot in New York City in 1995. It’s possible that she wasn’t paid for those photos although even airfare and lodging would count as compensation (according to the Washington Post).

Well, this certainly would be a unique approach…

Could Donald Trump Drop Out? Some Bettors Seem to Think So
As a starting point, let’s assume that Mr. Trump’s replacement is as likely to lose the election as Mr. Trump is. Note that the markets assess the chance that the Republicans lose — 74.2 percent — as being roughly three times greater than the chance of victory. As such, our assumption suggests that the chance that Mr. Trump’s replacement loses is also three times that of his chance of winning (which we already calculated to be 1.7 percent). It follows that the chance that someone other than Mr. Trump leads the Republican Party to a loss is then three times 1.7, or around 5 percent.
The odds that Mr. Trump drops out are simply the sum of the chance of an alternative Republican either winning (1.7 percent) or losing the election (5 percent), or 6.7 percent.
Perhaps instead, Mr. Trump will drop out only if or when the chances of a Republican winning have fallen sufficiently that continuing to campaign is not worth his time. If so, the previous calculation represents a lower bound on the odds Mr. Trump drops out. For instance, if Mr. Trump will drop out only when he has wrought sufficient damage on the Republican brand that his replacement has — to keep the math simple — a 17 percent chance to win the election, then similar calculations suggest that markets give Mr. Trump a 10 percent chance to drop out.
Perhaps the bias goes the other way, particularly if you believe — as I do — that the Republicans are more likely to win if Mr. Trump drops out. If so, my calculation represents an upper bound on the chance Mr. Trump quits. Perhaps an alternative Republican candidate has a 50 percent chance of winning, if given the chance. If so, then the chance that an alternative Republican runs and wins (which, if you recall, is 1.7 percent) is equal to the chance that an alternative runs and loses. By this view, the odds that Mr. Trump drops out are about 3.4 percent.
My own judgment is that it appears that the markets rate the chance that Mr. Trump drops out as being somewhere between 3 and 10 percent. The range of my estimate is wide partly because it is unclear precisely what assumption to use in extrapolating from market prices to the odds Mr. Trump drops out, and partly because these calculations are sensitive to small changes in betting odds.

His base voters LOVE this stuff though. During one debate the crowd went wild with applause when he said calling a woman a fat pig was okay because it was Rosie O’Donnell.Remember his comment about a female not winning enough votes? He said, “I mean look at her face”.

This is his voters idea of strong, assertive machismo and they eat it up. Unfortunately I think it says more about some of them then the candidate himself.

The focus is who is better for the job of President based on how much they can be trusted not to abuse their power and to what extent they view public service as “self service”.
With this focus, how do you see Trump as “more legitimately interested in helping our country”? Hillary has been in public service. Trump has not. Hillary has been in positions of power in government. Trump has not. Whatever you think of Hillary’s actual performance in these positions, Trump’s performance can only be inferred from his actions in the private sector. They are not exactly comparable positions, but I just wonder how you came to your comparative conclusion without any actual data on Trump? Is there any indication in his past life that leads you to believe he is more “public service minded”?

I am about as anti-Trump as they come, but its hard for me to get too excited about this. She wanted to come to the US. She did it whatever way she could. She may have thought it was legal; but even if she didn’t, she is a citizen now. I would give her the same benefit of the doubt I give to other immigrants. I would prefer that her husband did the same for all immigrants, but I am not going to sink to his level.

An interesting commentary on why Trump is struggling as of late. As many had forecast would happen, he doesn’t seem to understand the difference between the primaries and the general.

Donald Trump Might Be In Real Trouble This Time
In a way, having a candidate who treats the primaries the same as the general election is endearing. It is what one would hope of an idealistic candidate who always told the same truth all the time, regardless of who he was talking to. If Trump’s ideas weren’t so awful, I would applaud him for staying constant.

Excellent post…and you can almost bet those trumpeting the loudest to ban abortion won’t be found to put their money where their mouth is to support the mother and child if it is made illegal…and I’m pro life as well.

Yes. Except it rarely works…
Those who do not “pivot to the general” must deal with the consequences. Barry Goldwater in 1964, George McGovern in 1972 and Walter Mondale in 1984 were all running against incumbents, a tough row to hoe. But all stayed the course that had sustained them in the primaries, believing they would inspire new voters and scramble the electoral map. They lost in the Electoral College by a combined score of 1,537 to 77.

I support a women’s home for women escaping domestic abuse and forced abortion. I do not abandon women wage they chose life. That is a lie conducted by the pro abortion side.

I also know that my local right to life group has a mothers help fund. They also participate in a diaper outreach service…free diapers for those in need for up to two years old. The CPCs also provide free baby supplies, maternity clothes, parenting classes, etc.

The party line has been that such costs are an opportunity for individual benefactors to be charitable on their own, rather than have the government steal from them to subsidize others.
