If there is little mitigating factor, there should be little leeway in sentancing guidelines. And it should be structured differently. Abortion, versus murder of born child/etc. Not because of value of the life, but because of principle. While a child is in the womb, there is a possibility of natural tragedy causing fetal demise. To put it in an agricultural context, a farmer who loses chickens and eggs to a neighbor’s dog has a right to reimbursement for the chickens, but not the biddies not yet hatched from the eggs. Likewise, premeditated abortion might not carry the same exact penalty as premeditated murder of say, a six year old (no reason, just off the top of my head).
So are you equating an unborn child with an unhatched chicken?

I agree that mitigating factors should be taken into account. There are mitigation experts who testify at the trials of people charged with murder. The sentence should fit the crime. A fourteen-year-old who is forced by her parents to abort a child, should receive counseling only, perhaps. The issue would be very complex, no doubt. But if abortion is murder, surely someone who chooses it would have to pay some penalty. We can’t say, “Well this kind of murder is okay, but another kind is not.”

Are you saying the life of the unborn is not as worthy as the life of the already-born? That’s the mantra of the pro-choice group.

Just watched several videos of the anti-Trump march in Manhattan yesterday, and after seeing these foul mouthed hoodlums try to shove there way through police lines, I’m amazed that people can still blame Mr Trump for violence on the campaign trail. I’m also amazed that only 2 or so were arrested.

I’m only speaking for myself here but I don’t think it’s an either/or scenario. Those who break the law while protesting should be held accountable for their actions. And Trump should not be egging on anyone.

Not to digress too long, but Sharpton should never have been where he is. He rose to prominence as a result of an outrageous and totally false rape accusation (Tawana Brawley.) No one should listen to a word he says.
Agreed.

Talking points and key words to send messages of hopeless discouragement are cleverly used by pros. Reason, demand, repeat failure of existing government, future doubtful - are revealed repeatedly by those who wish to have power over the people - not the power OF THE PEOPLE!

If you have ever played a word puzzle game of “search and find” the programmed use of words and phrases shows up clearly. The psych clincher is a closing statement to suggest personal sharing as in the above post: “And I can’t stand Trump”.

Another tactic is to use short two or three word chants as in cheerleading. Some phrase that reinforces the former message and this is done several times within a short period of time. Picture the crowds at sporting events shouting - an old one is “Push em’ back - push em’ back - waaay back!”

The only way to weed through a lot of the stuff on this thread is to play the game of word search. The message hidden in the words can be used to cause serious misleading.

How are reasonable people led to reason against their own safety? Seems like this predicament has been around for a long time.
Interesting…

And an excellent reminder, imo, as to why we should pray for discernment.

Check this out: Now Trump’s sister has received a threatening letter.

I heard Dennis Prager earlier, yes, a reairing of his weekly show, he was saying Liberals and Conservatives respect free speech; but he was saying, in Prager’s words, leftist do not.

Sounds like one of the news websites is reporting one of the main fellows in Arizona blocking the road is maybe some Soros worker from New Orleans. Of course, that should be in the mainstream news if so.

I say, if people oppose him for reasons of perceived hatred, fine, but don’t use more hatred to direct at him. 🤷

Your post shows a considerable level of maturity for a 14 year old. Welcome to the forum! Hope you have a good experience here. 🙂

Two wrongs never make a right and is completely counterproductive.
Martin Luther King, Gandhi, Abe Lincoln. Trump is one of a long line of peacemakers, of those who seek justice who has had to struggle with those who wish to limit free speech.

The image of Ghandi and Trump standing side by side almost made me do a spit take.

Just breaking tonight: Trump gave a speech to group of republicans tonight at Mar-a-lago. In order to qualm people’s doubts about him choosing conservative judges for the supreme court, Trump said he would compile a list of 5-10 conservative judges who are admired by all, and make a personal guarantee that his first nomination will be one of those judges.

What a brilliant idea to inspire confidence and bring the party together.
