Kasich would be my choice, though he doesn’t have “rock star” appeal that seems to be the real qualification for most voters nowadays.
I’m surprised that you veer towards Kasich, who I as a European could actually see myself voting for, yet would ultimately back Trump when it comes down too it and seem to be defending his views on these threads, when he would be so far from the mainstream throughout most countries over here in this continent as to be unelectable.

I just don’t get how anyone could see those two men as sharing more than a modicum in common.

There are more than a few high-profile GOP politicians who are currently stating that they will NOT back Trump. Some are even saying they will vote for Hillary just to stop him.

Over here in Britain, many Conservative MPs have stated would support Clinton in a Trump-Clinton standoff despite the Tories traditionally being the sister party of the GOP (you know Maggie and her best bud Ronald).

Yeah, nice guy and as they say it could be why he’s in last place? 🙂 Or too cliche? Ben Carson I liked also.

You just doomed his candidacy!😃 (j/k)

I have a hard time understanding how one could foam at the mouth with every fiber of being insulting toward someone as we have been seeing, and then say this. 🤷

Carson couldn’t be elected in Europe either. Some of his views are really crazy.

Reagan and Thatcher shared much in common in the 80s but the GOP has swung so far too the right in that time that it has galloped away from the mainstream it once shared with elements of British politics. Only Kasich seems to be cut from the same cloth now.

I don’t know what your on about. I think you must have misread what I said or something

I just find it odd as I said that Trump could be so deeply insulted by Rubio, Cruz and so forth to the extent which is imho way over the top and then agree to vote for him when they are so opposed to him morally? I may not agree with Mitt with a good deal of what he said, but I do agree once morally opposed its a complete contradiction to vote for the man.

Or its just childish tit for tat? Certainly there’s a conviction apparently lacking?

They’ve swung left, actually, in comparison to RWR. Put another way, the Establishment took over. One good thing about this election is that it appears that we have thrown the Establishment guys out. 🙂

Ah, I get your point now 👍

I can’t really imagine Trump delivering “shinning city on a hill speech”. He is entirely lacking in the dignity required to carry it off.

In fact it is precisely to avoid losing to the democrats that Romney want the GOP to pick someone other than Trump.
Agreed. However, I am a bit concerned about this part of his speech:

“If the other candidates can find some common ground, I believe we can nominate a person who can win the general election and who will represent the values and policies of conservatism. Given the current delegate selection process, that means that I’d vote for Marco Rubio in Florida and for John Kasich in Ohio and for Ted Cruz or whichever one of the other two contenders has the best chance of beating Mr. Trump in a given state.”

Now don’t get me wrong, I understand how the process works. But for me the goal is *not *for so-and-so to get the nomination, but for so-and-so to win the Presidency; and a brokered convention may be the biggest PR gift that the GOP can give to Hillary Clinton.

True, but it is a bit of an unfair comparison. I truly believe that RWR is one of 4-5 best US presidents to hold the office.

Cruz seems to be his natural heir, but I don’t recall RWR speaking in such strident tones. I will probably vote for him in my primary, though.

Oh, Cruz certainly wouldn’t get elected in Europe. No Tea Party-er would. I guess that makes him a contender 😃

V he changes his mind daily and on stage in public. I mean you can’t help but notice? Its rather scary don’t you think, sheez, talk about blind faith. He went from water boarding to a new amended version of torture, to OK we’ll respect our military. 😃 I get it he has an inspired movement and people are looking outside the box, but I think proceed with caution signs should be added to the roadside with flashing yellow lights?
